  1. When filmed from the boat the skier appears quite a way away on playback depending on line length of course. It usually suffices however because of the high quality picture so you can simply move your head closer to the screen to see what your doing if that makes sense! When it is attached to the skier it gives an awesome video but I'm not sure how good it would be for training because rather than showing you and your movements it shows the tip of your ski and the buoys coming at you. This is where the iPad comes in because someone sitting in the boat can see what the camera is seeing in "real time" (about 5 seconds behind at best). I had problems with the wifi (how the video is transferred to the iPad) - it kept disconnecting which is frustrating. You can also attach it to the front of the ski facing up at you which would be more productive for training with I'd say. You can see all your movements - where your hips are, where you are looking, knee bend etc... When I brought my camera I was under the idea that through the inbuilt wifi you could transfer the GoPro files onto an iPad or iPhone for playback so you can slowmo and pause it etc. It can't do this however - all you can do is watch it live which is pretty useless IMO. The only way to play it back therefore is connect it to a computer and then play it through that. In 1440hd however most computers will lag because its just too much for them to handle. If you do want to watch it through an iPad you need to download a movie player app because the stock iPad movie player does not support the kind of files the GoPro produces. You need to transfer it onto the iPad through a computer because the USB adapter cords that apple makes (so you can plug a camera straight into an iPad) packs a fit when you connect a GoPro. All in all I didn't think the Hero 3 lived up to all the hype. GoPro missed a heap of seemingly obvious problems for example when you get it to use it you need to download NEW SOFTWARE for it just so that it works. That should be done before it leaves the factory door IMO. The brilliant image it produces almost makes up for all this however.
  2. Haha That'll be enough to cover the new maple
  3. How much for your Nano 1 in NZD? :P
  4. I don't know much about jumping but how about a downhill mountain bike helmet? They are extremely light and you could take the visor off?? http://www.torpedo7.co.nz/products/2DHLFN2RN/title/demon-2012-option-dirt-helmet
  5. A few of you have talked of adding zero off to the Excalibur engine. How can this be done and what are the costs?
  6. I am a kid! How bout a poll for parents? hahaha Mine have never been into skiing but dad has the money and drives the boat so I sorta need him
  7. @OB hahaha! I must admit I had never heard of him before now - Sorry Schnitz if you ever read this. Have you purchased any of his explanations? Would you recommend it?
  8. @scuppers then what does he mean by "and get my FREE report"?
  9. @Jim Neeley what does this guy mean by "Click on the button to the right and get my FREE report on how to "EDGE CHANGE LIKE THE PROS" for only $19.99 (for the beginner through pro skier. Includes "X FACTOR"). Once payment is received, I'll e-mail you this report within 12 hours (usually much, much sooner)." Is it free or $19.99!?
  10. Could someone give a link to somewhere where the "reverse C concept" is explained?
  11. @allycat as @rodltg2 put it "I guess I need to water my money tree"! Even importing a boat from australia is rather expensive especially with the way the different dollars are sitting
  12. I like your thinking but that's when it starts to become a hassle! I am definitely jealous of how cheap dd boats are in the US
  13. @rodltg2 yes you are right about how expensive they are. Importing works out at about the same in most cases once you consider all the costs :(
  14. Here's a link to it http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=445429503 note: the price is NZD and inboards are generally more expensive over here
  15. Thanks @ski6jones we would be skiing at that sort of speed quite a lot unfortunately because we are often getting people into the course. How bad is it? I'm skiing into 22off at 36mph at the moment so should be alright at that speed?
  16. @Wish true true - it would need to be checked out. However I am more interested in what people thought of the overall model rather than this particular boat. I worked out that it was not a 1993 because it has a 1994 windscreen on it
  17. Just realised that it is in fact a '94. The seller doesn't know this however
  18. I have been looking at a 1993 Ski Nautique with 500 hours on the clock. Do any of you have experience with this model? How does it perform? Anything that this model/year was notorious for? Thanks!
  19. I skied 4 sets on a Reflex + RTP last night. It took a little getting used to with the kicker but soon I was nearly back up to speed. I couldn't believe the amount of angle I was getting out of the turn. It was seriously fun!! My profile picture Is a snapshot of one of the videos.
  20. When they say "be light on the line" aren't they just trying to put it in a way that you can understand? I believe the goal is to FEEL like your being light on the line which can be accomplished by a good body position ie stacked etc and therefore you are not using so much energy because the load is being transferred straight through your body to the ski rather than your muscles having to transfer it and therefore you are using less of your own bodies energy (when you activate your muscles). So you are in fact putting the same load on the line but using less energy and it FEELS lighter. This is skiing more efficiently because you are using less energy if you are stacked. It is the same concept behind the Goode Powervest. It makes it easier because it helps transition the load of the boat to your lower back automatically and into your ski meaning that you can handle the load better and get to the next ball with max speed and having used less energy. That's just my understanding of it anyway (I hope its easy to understand)
  21. Any of you heard of Jonah Lomu? Best wing rugby has ever seen. He had to give up playing for the All Blacks at a young age and have a kidney transplant because he took too much creatine.
  22. Nautique should take a leaf from Ferrari's book. At Ferrari they forbid anybody customising their new cars in colours that will bring shame on them ie. toddlers spew
  23. Thanks @DanE. I think I might just do that. I had never thought of doing it but now three different people have told me to try it - it must be a good idea! If I can run the 55k this evening or tomorrow I'll try cutting straight to -22
  24. Thanks @richarddoane I may give that I try next time if I start getting frustrated at not getting the full pass at 58k or even if I do just drop it back to 55k -22 anyway. Thanks :)
  25. Guy here. I live in New Zealand. I started skiing when I was 12 and now I'm 16. I started the course in Feb and now I'm on the brink of shortening up the rope :) We have a SeaRay 180 with a 200 merc on the back but I usually ski behind a SN200CB. I ski at a local lake which was recently built - check it out http://backpaddocklakes.co.nz/ (it has developed a lot since those pictures were taken). I use a Syndicate A2 and most importantly I LOVE SKIING!!
