  1. Ryan Dodd doing a pass up while we sat on the ramp
  2. I Have been seeing the mention of backwash in many threads due to high water and was wondering why the high water makes the backwash so bad? Is it the gradient of the bank changing or the depth of the water? Also how many lakes which are built for skiing have adjustable water levels? The lake we belong to has an vertical outlet so that the water level can be controlled to what suits. Is this common? I know that if its set up high the rollers get unbearable so I really feel for the ballers that put up with this! Thanks
  3. One footed is hard. I think there is a video of Seth Stisher doing it somewhere.
  4. Thanks guys for explaining that. And @woolly110 I'm sure it would! However I'd be keeping my old reflex boot - an all black setup... Batman?
  5. What colors is it available in? I saw that Jason was riding a black one in the videos but was it just a prototype? The green and orange are a bit out there for me..
  6. @scotchipman just saw that! Engine cover?
  7. @GregHind same thing happened to us except with a chest strap. Skier was floating right next to the boat and took it off and when it started to sink he couldn't get to it because he was wearing a life vest. Luckily the water at the lake was beautifully clear because it had sunk several metres by the time someone in the boat had dived in and it was a deep lake! They swam around for quite a while before they picked up its fading silhouette far below! We had only had it a matter of days so were pleased not to lose it.
  8. Gurglegurgle: The sound heard when the bung is absent from bung hole in your new Nautique 200
  9. @Horton Which ski last invoked this kind of sadness at its departure?
  10. Would any of you recommend it over say an A3? (For a skier running into 32off at 36mph?)
  11. I was amazed at how grippy the D3 Enzo gloves are. They are also by far the most comfortable I have worn
  12. Has a compass on the dash so that you can find your way back to the dock
  13. Haha Now you got to explain exactly what that comment of yours meant @AB and how it applied to you...
  14. @will how accurate is this radar gun of yours? A few weeks ago a cyclist friend of mine put his Garmin GPS down the back of my wetsuit and set it to record the top speed reached. It was cold and getting dark and so I pulled the pin after a pass at 16m 58k and when I got back in the boat it was reading 82.6kmph (51mph). This is significantly more than the 42mph you are talking but of course does not contribute to your theory of 15off being faster because that speed of mine may have been recorded at 15off or 22off. Hindsight tells me that I'm an idiot and should have checked after each pass! In the near future I hope to use it again and record the different speeds
  15. Thought I'd share with you my attempt at a home made R-style boot. I was close to buying an actual reflex one but when I saw a pair of secondhand rollerblades for $5 I couldn't resist giving it a go and making my own! I simply drilled out the rivets holding the cuff in place and removed the bottom buckle the same way. When I took the wheels off there were big blocks of plastic that were molded onto the base of the boot which I ground off. After some more grinding and a paint job I had a boot that looked like it would work. I drilled my own holes into a radar plate and then bolted it on. When I put it on the ski with the reflex front I encountered the problem many get when using reflex double in that they were too close for the release to work. Being impatient as I am I simply hacked the toe off to give more space. I think I will leave it buckle-less to give piece of mind of release and coming off a toe plate it's going to give me way more control hopefully anyway.
  16. Thanks @horton that explains a lot. Next set I shall be working on that.
  17. @horton I read your article about taking the wing off your fin until you were at (32off??). I looked at the fin on my a2 and decided to shallow it up a bit (first thing I've ever done to the fin/wing) as a compromise to taking it completely off. I run into 32off at 34 quite often and deep 28off at 36. After the change I was running 22off so easily and smooth (much more speed through the turn) but when I got to 28off I had huge tip rise on my onside and struggled to get much further than ball one. Can this be explained by the change or was it the skier? Thanks
  18. What about a jump cut style pullout?! pull out to the right then go left, simulate a turn and then your heading through the gates and on the way to one ball. Hmm I Havnt tried it yet but one day I will.
  19. I can't remember where I read it but I'm pretty sure Nate or his coach said Nate had got round four ball at 34 In practice sometime. It may have been in the article on Nate in the waterskimag recently
  20. Looks so stunning with the neatly mown banks!
  21. @klindy oh you need to come over again! Come and see your friends and maybe go for a tour of nz. We would be happy to give you a couple of days skiing at the local (purpose built) lake and a bottle of your Craggy Range Syrah at the end of the day!
