  1. @Jayproyou need to drag that thing down to Tennessee. Those UT boys would be all over it! I know of a 2023 at a dealership that had the deal fall through. You could have a factory, brand new, one in your driveway tomorrow, but it’s gonna cost you an extra $60 G’s. They also have a 5 hour 50th anniversary but Jaypro’s price smokes that one too
  2. How do you guy think @RAWSkigot @Shell? You call it bribery, he calls it ?
  3. When I first got back to skiing I was traveling a lot for work. The first time I skied Bel Acqua Brett met me there and pulled me behind his boat. He was a great help to me progressing in my skiing and just a great guy. I’m very sad to hear this. Prayers of comfort to his family from mine
  4. The fact that Miss America knows competition water skiing is even a thing is a plus, to me. Maybe she’ll give it a little exposure. Maybe even bring tens of more people back to skiing.
  5. 1 in 1004, so you’re saying there’s a chance!
  6. @HockdogI would think you’d need the ballast more if you have a single observer. 2 observers in my boat is rare. Driver with 1 observer typically balances the boat, in a standard boat.
  7. Holy thread resurrection. I’m loving seeing the 2011 gear lists. My ski bag is about a year older than this threadski: D3 NRG R2Sock: D3 Neo sock with Fin-Firkin tailBag: very old O’Brien padded 1 event (needs replacement soon)Boots: Reflex Supershell front Reflex R-style rearglove: Radar Vapor BOA Kevlar (3 pair)Liners: Masterline palm protectorsHandle: In-Tow 1.092 SpectraRope: In-Tow -39Vest: Eagle PlatinumWetsuit: Eagle and Radar Heater topsTrunks: PranaRadar Digital Caliper bag with Hex/Allens and Phillips head screwdriver.Boat: 2002 Ski Nautique with ZO conversion
  8. I was thinking exactly what @Bufootin said, the D3 Arc, if you can find a 68, would be perfect. That’s one of my favorite skis they’ve put out. I’m on a D3 NRG R2 right now and love it too. I just don’t know if you’re looking to drop that kind of money on one, as it’s a current offering. The Arc is a few years old and can be found cheaper. One thing you’re going to have to do is get bindings that the plates fit current skis, and boots are another thing that has changed tremendously since the Redline skis. At least in the beginning, you’ll probably want to stick with rubber bindings, as it’s what you’re used to. The D3 leverage boots are that “old style” rubber boot.
  9. I was thinking very much along the same lines as @Horton just said. Skis are very adjustable now, and settings matter a lot. I’d love to give advice, but ultimately you are going to make your decision based on criteria known only to you. I was thinking that I would NOT BUY certain skis under your circumstances, but I want to avoid “bashing” any ski or brand. The reasons being, some skis don’t ski well when not set up FOR YOU. Typically, I have found the Radars, Connelly’s, and D3’s are very comfortable, out of the box at standard settings. The last couple HO’s I tried I did a good bit of adjusting on before I liked what they were doing. Other people may feel the exact opposite, so I am DEFINITELY NOT bashing HO, it’s just me. And to round out the major ski brands today, Goode brand skiers often have adjusted their skis exactly how they like them. That said, a ski not riding well for someone not used to adjustable fins will not be a ski you enjoy riding. No matter what you decide on, I’d ask the seller to set it to factory recommended settings before sending it to you. Just about everyone on this forum will be happy to help you from there
  10. @skiboyny thanks. That will do it. I forgot about that old document. I probably have that printed out in some old folder from my 9800 :D
  11. @BraceMaker my point is the current speed control system for tournaments is not yet usable for the electric conversion options, so I’m not currently interested, at least not seriously interested. Why would I even consider converting my boat to something I can’t get tournament type practice behind?@swc5150 EControls spent years developing Zero Off and it still gets development. They figured out a dead steady train pull was doable, but pretty brutal.I’d love to see more companies in the market but until we get Elon Musk addicted to slalom skiing, my bet is we won’t get the best possible solution any time soon
  12. Are the settings Goode publishes on its website using proprietary Goode calipers?I need stock settings with real world calipers for a 68 XTRCC
  13. Until EControls puts out some kind of interface with an electric engine it’s really just a mild curiosity to me. How many, and what batteries are required, and what else? Where do they all go? Some could be put where the fuel tank currently sits, but due to weight, I don’t think I’d want them all there and I don’t know if amperage loss due to them not all being in one “battery bank” would be an issue. It’s an interesting thought, but much like the early days of solar on houses, it would take 30 years to pay for itself. At least that’s how it looks
  14. At $1,400 Perfect Pass 3-Event is such a worthwhile investment for ski boats that I really suggest just biting the bullet and buying it from Perfect Pass new. You can wait around and lurk on Ski-it-again forever or you can order it and install it this winter and be ready for next season as soon as it’s warm out. I’ve got a ski buddy who looks for years to get “deals”. For me, my time on the water is worth so much more than the few hundred dollars I might be able to “save”.
  15. At 210 lbs, the 69 of either ski would be the right size. I’ve ridden the Senate through -28 at 34 mph and I own a Union I teach people on. I actually really love the Union. I free ski it sometimes on the river at -35 at 34 mph and it is really fun. It turns great and swings out very easily. I’ve still never ridden it in the slalom course though. For your level, if you want to get into trying the slalom course, you’re going to want to slow the boat down to 24.9 or 26.7 in order to make a few buoys, so I’d go with the Union. Even if you never try the slalom course, I still think that ski will be a great ski
  16. Rubbing alcohol will leave top sheets discolored, at least it will on D3 skis.
  17. I’m just happy that it’s not close to me.
  18. Cold front pushing through tomorrow. Got a set in today. Still heater top only weather but that may change. Either way, it will warm up again a few times through December. Usually able to get heater top only sets at least a couple times a month all winter long. I did put the hard top back on the Jeep tonight.
  19. Asher is selling that 01 just by skiing. That guy is on ?
  20. PB’d today. November 1 is a good day to ski! I’ve been telling everyone. No one cares ?
  21. I know Horton’s original point has been let out of the bag but, I really like Joel’s high handle in the turns. It allows the ski to rotate well under the line and he’s back on the handle with both hands never really having to reach for it. I know most top skiers do this well, but that’s the first thing that jumped out to me. That and good line tension into the turn.
  22. @ski41off_dave D3 NRG R2, stock settings. 67” 6.935 2.460 0.750 8° 30” front boot. I really don’t want to change the setup, honestly, but my basic -28 pass I keep blowing the tail, even when I feel like everything is good. I keep coming in miles early, and then the ski tip over-rotates to point back to 1 ball. I’m thinking about just sliding the boots back a click or 2 on the Mikro-Just and leaving the fin as is. I spent all day building the walkway to the new boathouse looking at perfect calm water on the lake, not getting any skiing in. Torture. I told my ski partner who was helping that this kind of work was like Cross-Fit, but for men
  23. Water has dropped about 15+ degrees and now, all of a sudden, I’m consistently blowing out the tail on my offside. Should I move boots or fin? How much? I was skiing really well and now I have to really baby the offside or it blows out.
  24. Your throttle cable running on the top of the engine is connected to the potentiometer that electronically detects throttle position. That’s the black plastic box at the end of your cable
