  1. It is not the same location but I had a screw removed from my tibia to allow compression after a break that required internal fixation. They did the procedure while I was awake using a local and a few Vicodin. Walked into and out of the procedure, went on a 20 mile bike ride the next day. Hope your removal is as easy as mine was.
  2. Thanks Jim. I live and ski in northern Illinois at an old quarry.
  3. After not really skiing for 5+ years I got back into it this year and it was GREAT. I am still a far cry from where I used to be but it is nice to see some progress and look forward to next year. This season I 1) lost 45 pounds 2) ran 15off @ 32 and 5 @ 34 3) hit the ramp again with a few decent singles. Thanks to BOS for providing guidance, motivation and entertainment. Looking forward to loosing more weight, running 22 next year and jumping over 100 (stretch goal).
  4. Looking to put a used Stargazer (SG) unit into our existing boat with PP. The SG came out of a Malibu that was drive by wire, the Nautique I want to put it in is not drive by wire and has the PP servo. Can this SGbe converted to work with the servo? I am hoping to use the SG and buy a Z Box to do the upgrade on the cheap.
  5. Just saw this today, too big for my son but thought someone else might need one. 63" Senate c for $150 new. http://www.wakehouse.com/products/radar-senate-c-jr-63-water-ski-2012.html
  6. That looks really cool. Love to see some jump data from it.
  7. Ok, got a video but it is only one pass. Current thinking is I need to move the binding forward one? For reference I used to ski into 28' at 36, been out for many years, currently in the process of getting back into shape, have dropped ~35 in the last few months and gettîng stronger. This all feels familiar but not second nature again. Thanks for any advise you guys can provide. http://youtu.be/uLJKUNcHwEo
  8. Just back into skiing after several years off. I am on a 69" senate, fin setting per this thread http://www.ballofspray.com/forum#/discussion/2173/settings-for-a-69-senate skiing at 32 mph right now. Current weight 235. I used to ski with double fixed boots but this year started with a rtp to try and help with some back pain during deep water starts. With the stock fin settings I am well balanced on the ski, my pulls are strong and feel good. My issue is in the turns, I just cannot get the ski to come around. Should I go back to double fixed and see if that helps or try a fin adjustment? I would rather stay with the rtp... Thanks Scott
  9. I am getting back into skiing after several years off partially due to injuries. The first couple times i skied this year my back was so bad I almost gave up skiing again, the main culprit seemed to be the deep water start. Even after healing up a bit and using a drop ski to get up I could feel my back tightening up as I skied even with only running 2 passes. I had been stretching my ham strings and quads and thought I was limber enough to ski. I don't know what caused the epiphany that some if not all of my problem may still be due to muscle stiffness, but I found this stretch that seems to have made a world of difference. Last night was the first time I was able to ski more than 2 passes (did 4). I am sore (arms and legs) but my back back is just a bit tight. Seems my issues were all related to the tightness of the hip flexor and glute. Hope this can help someone else get over the back pain...
  10. In prepping our ramp to go in this year we found that we are in need of an overhaul this fall. Our ramp is a steel frame (in good shape) that is decked with 5/4 treated boards and a ~1/4" 3 section fiberglass surface that we bought used. At a bare minimum we need to replace the underlying wood decking and do some glass repair, at that point I think we may be looking for a whole new surface. There are 2 options I am aware of; 1)A Beeman surface - any idea the cost of this? 2)I know that Jeff Smith and Rick Oppenlander had purchased a 2 piece surface that was intended to be sides for a box truck. Any idea how this held up or does someone have contact info for Jeff or Rick? Any pros or cons of these options as well as any other options would be appreciated.
  11. I had a micro discectomy with laminectmy about 7 years ago. Wish I had done it sooner. Recovery was a couple weeks and the pain was gone immediately. One of the docs I saw prior to the surgery said if they can clearly see the damage and the symptoms are consistent with the damage the chances for success are very high. He said where you get in trouble is the "well this might be the problem" and the patient is in enough pain to try anything. That is where the horror stories come from. Good luck.
  12. Thanks John. Not expecting miricles when I get back out there but hope to be running some 34 15's this year. I know, less all more ski...
  13. For the most part I have been out of skiing for about 10 years. Injuries, family, etc have kept me off the water and mostly in the boat. I was never a great skier, a few at 28 off, 36 and jumping about 100 on singles, 5 ft. By no means am I in skiing shape but am working on it. I just bought a 2012 Senate 69" (I weight around 250) and am looking at bindings. I have some Wiley's that will fit the ski but am curious about the Reflex. I have some knee and hip issues from an accident several years ago and like the idea of releasing more reliably from the ski. My question is being a big guy will the Reflex keep me in the ski, can it be adjusted correctly for my weight? If not what is the ~ weight where Reflex begins to work? While ultimately I plan on getting to ~200 lbs it probably won't be this ski season. I am in men's 3 now so will max out at 34. Thanks
