  1. I never liked the N1, but my all time PB is on a XT.
  2. Don't forget our man Jody. I endorse both. They are great resources for inboard expertise.
  3. @Deep11 - I would send video to Martin at Goode and ask for feedback. I think the general consensus is that the Rev6 is a slower ski that doesn't glide as easily as others...like the 6.0 evidently. It takes a more conscious effort (with back arm pressure and later release) to maintain outward direction....o.k.a. width and being early. The reward is a overall easy stable platform to ride, and one that doesn't do odd, bad things at the bouy. I've demoed/bought/tried more skis in the last 12 months than ever, in the same time span. I wasn't skiing particularly well on anything this summer and ended up strapping on a Rev6 in between rounds at a tourney. Literally first time on the ski had the best 1 ball at 38 in maybe 2 years. I freaked out at being too early at 2 ball and fell. But anyway, looking at the video, I think you would benefit from placing a bit more bias of weight/stance/hips forward on the ski, to get more centered. I would also work on protecting the angle and outward momentum you worked to achieve, by keeping back arm pressure (tension) in the spray, and roll the ski onto edge with that tension, and with both hands closer to your body/waist. Particularly approaching 1-ball, you appear to release early and reach out and back in to the buoy with your hands. Also, from 1 to 2, I don't see much back arm pressure at the 2nd wake....which will put you on a path straight to the buoy. Sorry, I don't mean to over-critique. These are things I struggle with myself. But I do believe that ski would work much better if you implement those things. * as an aside, I am surprised how many people still really like the 6.0 I would like to try one myself.
  4. a) I agree with the riverrat, I thinks it's a good idea. b) As for the fishermen comments, try actively bass fishing a large body of water (like Barkley) in sometimes gnarly conditions for 8-10 hours. It's not for the meek or lazy. c) I love skiing, and bass fishing is a not too distant 2nd. c) Fish n Ski?
  5. Short Rulebook Link but hmm, is it really a short link? I could expound but that would be circumlocutory
  6. AHA, Google is your friend....Duh My Bad, Page 8 Competition for the three major events shall be separated into the following divisions as determined by the contestant’s age. The “ski year” shall begin on the day after the conclusion of the Nationals, and shall end on the final day of the following Nationals. The contestant’s age on December 31 of the ski year shall determine his division for the entire ski year. For example, if a skier's birthday within the "ski year" could result in an age division change and his birthday is between the day after the conclusion of Nationals and December 31 inclusive of that "ski year", he will ski in the older division, beginning the day after Nationals. Otherwise, he will remain in the younger division for one more season concluding with the end of the following Nationals.
  7. @dbutcher - yeah, that makes the most logical sense. Why don't they specify that?
  8. Inclusive to what? The "ski year" that runs from Nationals to Nationals?
  9. Combination of 1)expense and timing with work, 2) it's been an 'off' year for my skiing, meaning I've been kinda struggling...so remote chance of placing. (I've done the 6th and 7th place before)
  10. snipped...... Men 1/Women 1 18 - 24 years inclusive Men 2/Women 2 25 - 34 years inclusive Men 3/Women 3 35 - 44 years inclusive Men 4/Women 4 45 - 52 years inclusive..... How does one determine exactly when they bump up to the next age division?
  11. @LeonL - Hey Leon, I could REALLY use many of sets with Chet. My perception is the older you are (yes, I am an old enough guy, 51 & 361/365 years) the more set in your ways you are, and need more help to deprogram the bad habits. I bet if you had a few days with Chet (or some other top notch coach) you would improve. In the scheme of things, it's worth the $$ if you can make it stick. At least that's my experience. The closest I ever got to placing was the 98 Nats. (btw, some guy name Dray Wanamaker won it with 3@38) 1.5@38 got a 3-way runoff for 5th. I see this year, 1@38 got 5th alone. Not sure how that fits into the thread but seemed kinda related.
  12. Those are my two skis right now. To me, a huge difference in feel.
  13. My perspective is, being an 'average' Nationals qualifier, my only shot at placing is a one-shot deal. Maybe I bust out a good score (above my practice average) and some of the other Level 9/MM/Big Dawg skiers have a bad day. If we did some sort multi-round event, or something that shakes out scores near skiers tournament/practice average, it essentially takes me out of any chance of placing. That doesn't make Nationals more appealing to me. The gambling, roll-of-the-dice element of it does.
  14. Low 170's and a 68"... interesting
  15. @Horton - Did you ride that one out?
  16. ...or how about, skier gets up and settles just outside the wake, boat spins the island a bit wide and nudges the skier into shallow water. Skier drags the bottom and falls. Reride?
  17. @jhughes - We have lots in common. I've ridden 7 skis this spring. The last was the Vapor (until 3 days ago). Yeah, it easy to get wide, but for me it was like riding a bi-polar bronco at the bouy. Strapped on a Rev6 for the 2nd round of Lymanland tourny and bam...best 1-ball at 38 I've had in a long time. I screwed up 2-ball and only got 1.5, but went on to get 4@38 on Sunday. I agree with all 6 of your observations. For me, the stable, fluid, predictable turns on both sides trumped the slight edge the Vapor (and others) has over the Rev6 on speed and carry.
  18. Congrats. After 2 cervical fusions, I totally understand the difficulties of a herniated disc.
  19. Got to talk to Brian some this weekend. He's a cool, humble guy that has the skills and REALLY wants to knock down 41. I think he'll do it.
  20. @Horton - That's the same thing that happened the 67 I demo'd at the TX BallSpray tourny. Actually I missed 2 28's. It was cool having WA drive/watch. And, yes, it is a different ski. Not anything like an A2 or S2 IMO.
  21. @LeonL @RB - Best I can tell, #59?
