  1. Both are useful. Is it just me or does Horton have a comical flare, like he could be a stand-up comedian or satirist? So the video has a certain entertainment element. :)
  2. I'm 6'2" / 192. The 68" in both were very 'skiable'. 34mph and 35/38 off. @Skijay - did you feel the NRG was a little more fast? IOW, maintained speed through turn and required a less effort to achieve width?
  3. @dbski - Not yet. But I at least have one of your clipboards!
  4. @Than_Bogan - I love trying new skis, for fun and yeah, for knowledge and possibly helping confirm the current or go-to ski is the right one. Friends joke I have commitment issues. Also, a few on that list are one-time rides. Skis being demo'd by friends, etc. (T1, Arc, NRG, GT, '18 Vapor at Nats) Yes, not full demos but nevertheless fun and useful. Actually of those demo'd I haven't send many back. SIA and skier friends are an awesome thing to have. :)
  5. @Buoyhead69 - I've ridden a ton of skis in the last 2 years. None of them were "bad", but all had their own personality. (like women? ha) There were a couple that many people rave about, that I didn't go for. I agree with the common opinion that there are fast skis and sticky skis, and that each style or design has advantages and disadvantages. Likely, the challenge for designers is finding the right blend of both characteristics? My opinion is the only way to know if you will like a ski is to demo it. My list from last ~2 years: XTR (in different sizes) XT Rev6 (in different sizes) XTM (in different sizes) XTT Flextail N1FT GT ('16, '17, and '18) Denali ('16 and waiting on the new one) Vapor ('16 and '18) VTR T1 T2 T3 Arc NRG
  6. @mwski - do you have a blank spot on your dash (gauge cluster) I did, so that's what drove the decision to place it there. (removed PP) It would take a while to get a pic, but imagine a filler plate where the PP controller was, with the MW4 attached to the plate. Yes, it doesn't fit flush and looks a bit out of place but, it works and is easy to reach.
  7. @ErikBerghiller - Back in the day we called a rear highwrap boot a "rear plate" and the only other option was a toe piece. (or a toe plate perhaps) So I was referring to a rear highwrap binding. Are you calling an "open" binding a toepiece or a hybrid rear (like the Reflex hybrid rear)?
  8. Erik, the one time I tried a rear "plate" it was scary. I couldn't cross the wakes without feeling I was about to either bury the tip, or get catapulted off the back of the the ski out the front.
  9. I would remove that one and position the new one as best possible there. It should have threaded inserts in the back allowing a backing bar to be in place. Mine is keyed so I didn't have that space. I went with the MW4 over a blank spot on dash panel.
  10. Goode website has some alternate fin settings.
  11. Regarding toe plates, I don't see how anyone could use any stock setup, let alone someone coming from doubles. But, take an ordinary Wiley-type plate, remove the rubber pad and replace with anti-slip tape and it becomes a different animal.

    NRG?

@Cent - IMO, of all the Goodes, it would most compare to the Rev6. The Rev6 carries speed easier whereas the others are more sticky.

    NRG?

I got to ride a 68 last night. Perhaps a 67 would be better since I'm at 190lb right now. To me, it feels nothing like a Goode. It feels more like the new Vapor, except more forgiving and less twitchy. IMO: -quick pivot turn instead of carving -decent amount of forgiveness if you end up on tail. Not so much on the tip. -low effort cross-course -carries speed well -do the right things past the 2nd wake and space/width is easy to attain. So it was different, and can't say I HAVE to go buy one after 1 set, but I give it a thumbs up.
  14. We did ski Christmas day a couple years ago, but it was like record highs in central AL. I think the air was like 80 and water mid 60's? Sunny and mild breeze.
  15. In the spring I 'break the ice' with water and air in the upper 60's. I won't really get into it until upper 70's with the sun out. In the fall it's pretty much the inverse. I love to ski, but I put so many things on hold while it's hot that I have to take advantage of the cooler weather. Plus, I HATE cold water.
  16. @Horton - I think it's time you come visit (bring your ski).
  17. Talked to Brooks at Nats about a glove that came apart prematurely. He hooked me up with replacement. Big thumbs up.
  18. Yesterday, while driving back from Nats, I spotted a small lake with a course. It was adjacent to I-12 in Slidell LA. I'm just curious who skis there, or what's the deal.
  19. My opinion is skewed. I'm not a fan of the flipflop option BUT I don't want to ski against Chet, Jeff, and the Boys either when I'm trying to simply trying to place. Once I feel like doing that I'll bump up to MM (as if I could....what's the minimum for MM?)
  20. Driving the distance (instead of flying), for the first time since maybe '95 Okeheelee?
  21. I would suspect the coil pack.
  22. I generally try to move or correct only when there is load on the boat. I hope that's the right thing to do.
