  1. @Joelh - I did...particularly through the gates.
  2. Reminds me of this one...
  3. I hear you. But have faith. Last year I had hernia surgery and could not even touch a ski until mid May. It went on to be one of my best ski years ever.
  4. Wileys with pad (which is thin and not bad) removed and no-skid laid down instead. Used it for years. I don't like heel straps or thick pads.
  5. Jhughes is right, the only difficult part is pressing out the races. IMO, if the wheel spins quietly and does not "roar", the bearing are ok. I like to place the axle on a jackstand on concrete in a quiet space, so the noise/vibration is transmitted sufficiently to hear.
  6. Broke the ice for 2019 this past Saturday. I've been working out and in decent shape...but my traps and upper lats got destroyed!
  7. @mfjaegersr - Hmm, aluminum enclosure. I like it. Thx
  8. Cheap generic amazon car OR boat cover.
  9. I labored over options in my 196 as well. It had no audio at all when I got it. I opted for a Clarion glove box DIN unit (wiring already in place) with a wired remote. If you dig around behind the coaming pads at the back you'll find the factory ~6in holes. So currently I'm using just those 2 holes with Polk 6.5 coax's. I kinda like just the 2 speakers. It's not sufficient while cruising, but sounds quite good and balanced with engine off. I am planning to add an amp and maybe a small sub. Installing those speakers wasn't particularly easy. The foam is very thick and getting the speaker mount holes drilled in the right location was tricky.
  10. Isn't it common practice for Law Enforcement to broadcast a 'if anyone has info regarding this crime, contact the fill in the blank Police Dept) ?
  11. ...ok I will concede to the possibility the tail of the ski went literally over the ball...to the precise extent in which the ball was deflected neither to the inside or outside of the ski path.
  12. If you look a few feet after he passes the ball, you can see where his ski path in the water was deflected. The tip of his ski was inside the ball, and the tail was outside the ball. Period.
  13. +1 on supercharger over turbo. Less complexity regarding exhaust manifolds is an advantage. IMO of course.
  14. Use restraint in jumping on different skis. The concept of staying on a ski to extract all its potential is starting to make sense. I'll probably try one or two, but that will be it. (except for 'fun' days....strap on the bindings to an old Duvall or Mastercraft and see how it rides) ps: Fins may be an issue though. Jay's new fin, the CG, the strange fin Lucky gave me, different wings. ps2/segue: What ever happened to "ventrals"? It seemed to be a fad. For me it was inconclusive. It did smooth things out, but did add drag, which definitely doesn't work in my favor.
  15. Just stumbled upon this one...and I thought I had seen all the vintage Youtube tournament videos.
  16. I tried the 67 and I'm ~190lb and 34mph. It wasn't bad slow, it was just similar to the XT.
  17. It's a very good ski. No doubt. I got 4 @38 the first set I tried it. But ultimately (me being an old heavy guy LOL), I determined I needed a ski that was a little more free (less drag). For that reason I've shelved the trusty XT and will be giving the Revo full priority for 2019....unless I can get my hands on a 34mph Caldwell/Cord Special. ( @adamhcaldwell )
  18. @jay - "Clarification: unknown men's slalom skier. The greatest unknown 3 event skier in the world is CLEARLY Martin Kolman"
  19. @block - I think that was Mike Ise? I think he was predominantly 34mph? I always though of him a cross between Jeff Rogers and Chuck Forrest. I think Mike Morgan gets a nod. He's been very good for a looong time.
  20. Yeah, Andy was an incredible talent, athlete, and competitor. But so is Nate, and he has refined a technique and style that is unconventional and very effective at 41/43, to say the least. Yeah, option #3.
  21. @Golfguy - maybe it just goes without being said. Me being a person who rides, arguably of course, as many sticks as Hortonism, I can say it really is much like Chevy vs Ford vs Toyota vs Dodge, etc etc. Goodes have consistently over a period of time resonated with me more so than the other brands. Who's to say if I stayed on a Vapor or Omni or GTR or any other high end ski, could I ski as well or better in the long run? It's hard to say. But I have respect and props to all the guys at the different companies and have nothing bad to say about any of them. @WideManiv - I think you should speak to someone at a ski shop/dealer and get a ski that is easy to ride. It's analogous to...say...you need a simple inexpensive vehicle to carry around kids and groceries and such. Most of the car manufacturers have offerings that could fit the bill. A Porsche Panamera would ceratinly be nice, but a Ford minivan might be easier to use every day. It's gonna come down to what feel and features you like best.
