  1. Lymanland Record is that weekend, so can't make it.
  2. Solution: 1) Confirm strainer cup o-ring (actually its a seal, not an o-ring) is in place. 2) If it is not, dig around transmission mounts and bilge to find missing seal 3) Reassemble strainer using aforementioned seal 4) test it out and wonder how the he!! you missed it in the first place 5) Ski 6) Take girlfriend out on the "big lake" for mixers and cruising
  3. Thanks for all the feedback. Won't be able to investigate until this weekend, so I'll report back.
  4. I already emailed Jody, but thought I'd run it by you guys... For the 2007 196.... Just starting this spring (coming out of boat hibernation), I'm seeing when I leave the engine idling (worse when already warm) the temp rises abnormally. It's not super-quick, but after running hard and idling, it could hit 200 deg in a few minutes. Also, revving in neutral doesn't help. I have to plane off to bring temp back down. Also, the heater stops circulating hot water (blows cool) as soon as I come off plane and idle. So there's a direct correlation between the engine water temp behavior and heater behavior. I replaced the impeller (which appeared in good condition) and it made no difference in the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks, Boozer
  5. Hmm, Anaheim, can't be a coincidence bassettracing.com/index.htm
  6. My hypothesis is tournament boats are a niche market and there are too many other marketing options. Ski-it-again, BoatTrader, etc. (I bought my first boat...1979 Southwind w/454)....off Ebay) Not sure if the rates are the same for high dollar items, but for typical items, Ebay charges the seller 10% (+10% for shipping), which is ridiculous IMO. But its free country/market right? If you don't want to pay 10%, don't use Ebay. Maybe Bernie can fix that to be fair to everyone...oops, don't ban me Horton.
  7. Ahh, Water Skier Magazine, either 78 or 79?
  8. @harddock , beat you to that last year, ;)
  9. @Horton - You crack me up Dude I demo'd and bought one of these at the BallofSpray Texas tourny. I'd been skiing on Goodes, so it was quite a difference. In one set, I went from missing 2 or 3 passes, to running 35. I had to readjust to really use my front foot and stand up on the ski correctly. When that is done correctly though, wow, very quick change of direction in the turn without bleeding off speed, and fast from side to side. I like the ski.
  10. @Texas6 - yeah, I'm using a 5s and it does the same wavy thing.
  11. Which company/agency do you use? (I'm in AL if that matters)
  12. This was my first sight of The Sweet '07 196 spring 2015, after a long awful winter.
  13. 1) I had virtually zero proper instruction (it was the 70's...we know so much more now). It was about big turns and big spray. I would have benefited from the knowledge of how important the stack is, and how important that spray-to-centerline zone is. I can say though, that I soon figured out I couldn't have those big turns and spray without speed and width...which requires a strong angle/pull/lean/etc through the wake. 2) A strong 2nd would be the importance of staying connected to the handle late rather than releasing early to slow down and sneak up on the ball. 3) It was all about generating maximum angle and speed right out of the bouy and slowing down as much as possible on the other side. Conservation of speed and momentum? Huh? LOL Geez, I still struggle to de-program those habits formed from the early days. I didn't get trustworthy or valuable advise and coaching until just a couple/few years ago.
  14. TESTER I'm missing something, but did a workaround by editing the string
  15. @jdk99 - That's interesting. Why does osteophytes complicate or interfere with the disc replacement procedure?
  16. I am curious to see someone speak from experience regarding the total disc replacement versus a fusion.
  17. I had C4/C5 in '93 and C5/C6 in '13. I am still skiing, and agree with jdk99. I take care to minimize stress on the adjacent discs, and use this...

@SkiJay - Thanks for the reviews. I've been riding a 67 VTR since the BoS-Cash tourny, so it's nice to get some comparative objective info. The VTR feels very different from the Goode's I've ridden the last 2 years. In fact, the first set (with Will at the Austin tourn) I missed 3 passes. (though I did go on to run a 35 last pass) I'm so used to turning a ski with the back half rather than the front half...which is a must with the VTR. But a nice result from that, is a conservation of speed I'm not used to, and a more forward CoM stack. I ran mostly stock numbers on the Goodes (more short and deep), whereas the VTR has a more long/shallow fin. I don't remember the numbers, but Will set it up "for 35 and 38". Front Reflex is as far forward as it will go, ~29.75. Will suggested trying 30, which I suspect I'll like. But that will be a mill/drill/file project for the Winter. For even Alabama, the season is drawing to a close. I'll look forward to experimenting with fins (and no doubt, skis) in the spring. Now, if I only had some good reading material on ski and fin setup to keep me busy...
  21. I had a great time. Enjoyed meeting alot of interesting people and fellow slalom nuts. Makes me feels more normal, LOL. Huge bonuses: skied a set with Will, was in the $, and a got a Wakeye! Big Thanks to the Aquaplex crew, HO, Centurion, Wakeye, and last but not least...The Horton.
  22. @Horton - Rubbin it in, eh? lol Would it be uncool to trash talk Will or Regina on the dock?
