Baller swc5150 Posted June 30, 2011 Baller Share Posted June 30, 2011 Does anyone know if there will be a new Prostar hull for 2012? I've heard rumors it's true, and the contrary.
D-Law
They had better because they are playing catch up now to the SN200
Baller 9400 Posted June 30, 2011 Baller Share Posted June 30, 2011 I just hope they lost the mold to that 1998 hull!
Baller swc5150 Posted June 30, 2011 Author Baller Share Posted June 30, 2011 That hull and the foil rudder! I haven't really cared for a Prostar hull since '91-'94. Something similar to that boat, with modern day technology would be cool.
Baller ForrestGump Posted June 30, 2011 Baller Share Posted June 30, 2011 They wanted to have the new hull ready for 2012 production, but it's not. '12 production started using the current 197/190 hull.
Baller swc5150 Posted June 30, 2011 Author Baller Share Posted June 30, 2011 Is there a chance they would introduce it mid-season, or would that mess with the promo boats being built/delivered?
Baller ScarletArrow Posted June 30, 2011 Baller Share Posted June 30, 2011 I've heard, from what I would consider a pretty reliable inside source, that they are working on a new hull. I wasn't told a release date.
Baller ForrestGump Posted June 30, 2011 Baller Share Posted June 30, 2011 They are definitely working on a new hull. Have a couple of test boats built. Wasn't ready. They want a game changer like the 200 was.
Baller skibug Posted June 30, 2011 Baller Share Posted June 30, 2011 how are they going to do that....make a hover craft that has no wake?
Baller swc5150 Posted June 30, 2011 Author Baller Share Posted June 30, 2011 Maybe they bought 196 molds from CC? ;-) I'm just glad to hear they're putting some R&D into their ski boats, versus just wake barges. I don't blame for going after that market though.
Old MS Accout
You can bet it wont be as nice as the Carbon Pro
Baller waterskicorey Posted June 30, 2011 Baller Share Posted June 30, 2011 I hear that Malibu is also coming out with a new boat to replace the Response, anyone hear anything else?
Baller skibug Posted July 1, 2011 Baller Share Posted July 1, 2011 I heard something along those lines for the Malibu from a credible source (don't ask who).
Baller_ DW Posted July 1, 2011 Baller_ Share Posted July 1, 2011 Malibu had a proto version at the King of Darkness. Many of the items on the boat very skier friendly (opposite of wakeboard / bling friendly) along with hull changes.
Baller swc5150 Posted July 1, 2011 Author Baller Share Posted July 1, 2011 I wish someone would take ideas from the ZX-1and utilize the center mounted V drive, with center mounted gas tank. That boat handled and skied like few others.
Baller_ Wish Posted July 1, 2011 Baller_ Share Posted July 1, 2011 I think that Zx-1 or Svfara/Infinity Sv One was great for erganimics. Huge up front legroom with big bench seat, easy step over transom. Big walk around room. One of the best interior desines for the 3 event purest. IMHO. :-). http://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?topic=Search&category=Comp_Boat&postid=14559
Baller rodltg2 Posted July 1, 2011 Baller Share Posted July 1, 2011 Theres a reason the svfara and infinity did not succeed. i know, that one above was mine. I will say it was a great boat as far as build quality and comfort. but it sucked as a 34mph boat. the wake at 15, 22, 28 was like hitting a curb. the 22 wake felt like a fire hydrant was open wide. also the boat did not turn well around a right turn island at a ski lake. the nose would dunk in and you get spray all over the windshield and the rub rail would constantly fall off. Theres a reason why I sold a near perfect condition 2008 ski boat for 15999. it sucked for my use. better barefoot boat probably!
Baller_ DW Posted July 1, 2011 Baller_ Share Posted July 1, 2011 The proto Malibu featured some hull changes to improve the wake, there are visible differences between it and current, it is the same size as an LXi. Interior sported a matt black dash and a taller/shorter windshield, both to cater to the ski crowd. Tank was in the current spot, or at least no mention of it being moved. Old MS Accout
Infanity sucked. If it would have been great it would be the boat to buy. I hated the wake and it didnt handle well. Nautique 200 and Carbon Pro Rock
Baller ForrestGump Posted July 1, 2011 Baller Share Posted July 1, 2011 DW, how can you have a taller AND shorter windshield at the same time?!?!?
Baller_ Wish Posted July 1, 2011 Baller_ Share Posted July 1, 2011 Rodltg2 .... Ya I did hear the wakes kinda sucked. Did not know about turning issues. Wow. I still agree with swc5150 in that they had some good interior ideas and similarly so did Sea Rays inboard ski boats but they sucked for wakes as well. bxroads
I must sit down more than you fella's. I hate the ass end of the 200, no where to sit you or your stuff when getting situated to ski.
Baller ScarletArrow Posted July 2, 2011 Baller Share Posted July 2, 2011 Agree, the aft end of the 200 is really bad, especially compared to the CP
Baller 6balls Posted July 2, 2011 Baller Share Posted July 2, 2011 Order the "folding chair" option instead of the backboard.
MCskiFreak
There are cg regs that make designing a mid-mounted tank difficult, and the new regs for permeation barriers and charcoal canisters makes it even more difficult.
Baller_ DW Posted July 2, 2011 Baller_ Share Posted July 2, 2011 Shorter on the sides so you can reach out or talk to someone beside the boat. Taller in the vertical plane for better visibility. Sorry for the missing word.
