Baller_ Wish Posted September 14, 2011 Baller_ Share Posted September 14, 2011 That's not exactly light in the line. But soooooooo impressive, especially after recovering from ball 2 and catching every bit of 4 ball. Looking forward to watching 43@43.

Baller 6balls Posted September 14, 2011 Baller Share Posted September 14, 2011 I remember when he when he became the first to rip 41 at 36 mph in a tourney to set the record at the time. I think I was in high school and he did it on a Jobe...I went out and bought one! There was a WS mag article contrasting him w/many pro skiers at the time b/c he was working long hours...I want to say in construction business...and had far less time to train than most pro's. It's stretching my memory, but I also recall the article saying something like he ran 28 off at 36 or something his very first time ever in the course. Crazy gifted talent. Baller_ Wish Posted September 14, 2011 Baller_ Share Posted September 14, 2011 He is a well driller I believe and it's a family owned business. He was the only full time working skier at the top at the time. Still is I'm guessing. Gives me hope that it can be done. What I hear and have read over the years is the fact that he is simply just a nice guy through and through. Truly a role model for the next generation of skiers. Oh.. And 1967 was a great year. 43@38.... kinda sorta.
Baller Jim Neely Posted September 14, 2011 Baller Share Posted September 14, 2011 Wish, You are right. I received some coaching from Jeff in June.
Baller Razorskier1 Posted September 14, 2011 Baller Share Posted September 14, 2011 He isn't light on the line, but he runs a tight line. Some guys seem to be able to ski aggressive, like Jeff, and still get it done shorter line. I find that if I'm aggressive it is just a total crap shoot. The lighter I try to ski, the better I ski. Now, what I really wanted to say was I thought Jeff skied particularly well, especially while rocking that old school Overton's vest!
Gold Member Than_Bogan Posted September 14, 2011 Gold Member Share Posted September 14, 2011 Dude's a beast. That 2 ball at -39 was hideous, but he was practically early at the end. IMPRESSIVE!
Baller Chef23 Posted September 14, 2011 Baller Share Posted September 14, 2011 That is awesome. I love the old school nylon overtons vest. Has there been a documented 41 run at 43 mph?
Baller Jim Neely Posted September 14, 2011 Baller Share Posted September 14, 2011 I think the 43@43 is 43off at age
Baller_ Wish Posted September 14, 2011 Baller_ Share Posted September 14, 2011 Yes it is. That's why I said 1967 was a great year and I'm 43@38....sort of. @Jim Neely how is Jeff as a coach?? Does he have a good understanding of some of the latest techniques??
Gold Member Than_Bogan Posted September 14, 2011 Gold Member Share Posted September 14, 2011 pretty sure Chef meant 34 mph and wasn't refering to the 43@43 thing.
Baller Chef23 Posted September 14, 2011 Baller Share Posted September 14, 2011 Right Than that was what I meant. It was a typo. Has there been a full 41 run at 34 mph?
Baller wtrskii3156 Posted September 14, 2011 Baller Share Posted September 14, 2011 Didn't Mapple run a few at 43 in a class C at Trophy a few years back?
Baller MattP Posted September 14, 2011 Baller Share Posted September 14, 2011 I do not know if Mapps did it in a tournament or not but I have heard that he can run 43@34. @Chef23 his only sponsor I believe is Overtons thats why he still uses their product and he is the only if not one of few skiers sponsored by Overtons
Baller ForrestGump Posted September 15, 2011 Baller Share Posted September 15, 2011 A few guys have run 41 at 34 in practice. I know Chad has recently. And Mapple did it once in a C tournament in 2005 just after he retired.
Baller 9400 Posted September 15, 2011 Baller Share Posted September 15, 2011 Andy ran 41 twice (34mph) in 2 rounds. He was also dominating open at the time..he just happened to be old enough to ski mens 3. Scored 2 and 4 at 43. 2003 or 2004 For what it's worth.....C tournament, floating course. Baller Roger Posted September 15, 2011 Baller Share Posted September 15, 2011 Lucky ran 41 in a C tournament a few years ago in Georgia. I believe he came up short of the one ball at 43 after a not so great gate (these guys really need to practice their 43 gates more...).
mrpreuss
I skied just before Andy the day he skied M3 unofficially. He ran 4 @ 43 in the second round so he score 14 buoys more than my 2 @ 39. Makes for a good story.......
Baller Jim Neely Posted September 19, 2011 Baller Share Posted September 19, 2011 @Wish, Jeff is more old school, "pull harder", "pull longer." But there is no denying his results.
