Baller lakeo Posted October 11, 2012 Baller Share Posted October 11, 2012 When the CC200 first came out there was talk of the bow being loaded with extra weight to produce a different wake or perhaps a look as to how it sat in the water. Anyone know anything about this? Was it to produce a different wake , purly cosmetic or it never actually happened and I'm dreaming.
Baller usaski1 Posted October 11, 2012 Baller Share Posted October 11, 2012 while not a CC, I have about 80 lbs of sand under the front seats of my open bow Moomba. I think it makes the wake better, but It also could be a placebo.
Baller Razorskier1 Posted October 11, 2012 Baller Share Posted October 11, 2012 Some drivers I know like some weight in the bow of certain boats to make them drive better. I put 50lbs under my passenger seat when we don't have a spotter just to level the boat off.
Baller Chuck_Dickey Posted October 11, 2012 Baller Share Posted October 11, 2012 Balance ballast weight can help the wake shape be symmetrical. Bow weight helps improve tracking and tends to lower the wake. About 80 pounds centered in the bow. I have a 40 pound bag under each bow seat. Baller ForrestGump Posted October 11, 2012 Baller Share Posted October 11, 2012 I like 25lbs in the front left of a 200. To me that gives a better feel of the wheel. On a 196, we'd put 50lbs under the eyering. On MC197, 75-80lbs up front equally spaced. Some it improves tracking. Some it improves wake. I never do it for looks. Baller east tx skier Posted October 15, 2012 Baller Share Posted October 15, 2012 I tried nose weighting my 98 and all it did was make it handle horribly at idle and plow the water getting out of the hole. I noticed no difference skiing or driving.
Baller Chuck_Dickey Posted October 15, 2012 Baller Share Posted October 15, 2012 @MS My guess is they don't know how you are going to load the boat. My PS-197WTT also has a ballast tank under the passenger seat, flip a switch and I can put up to 180 pounds of water in the tank. I can compensate easily for small or no weight on that side of the boat. Beats having Sand bags and such to move around. Surprised cc doesn't offer something like this. Would be nice if you could balance front to back this way as well.
