Baller B_S Posted February 6, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 6, 2013 I have a Mapple-Siege, circa '99, which I skied until a couple of years ago (grey clear coat so you could see the carbon fiber, with Andy's signature in gold on the lower half). I tried an '06 SIXAM a few times, but could just had a heck of a time trying to get it on edge (looking back, that might have been due to those Bio bindings more than the ski that gave me problems). I finally upgraded to a '10 Elite with Prodigy bindings a couple years ago, and that has worked for me quite well. I still miss that old beast sometimes. I remember it being a bit twitchy and pretty unforgiving of mistakes, particularly unforgiving about stepping on the front to slow down, OTF anyone? Once used to it, though, it was like I just had to think what I wanted to do, and it reacted. It was fun!
Baller JohnCox Posted February 6, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 6, 2013 I skied on Connelly for years, and always felt really stable and comfortable on them. Concept, Rocket, Attack, finally Prophecy. But never too terribly much short line on them.
Baller_ Wish Posted February 6, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted February 6, 2013 Line of MasterCraft AKA LaPoint skies. First time I ever felt something so stable and fast...ish.
Baller JohnCox Posted February 6, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 6, 2013 I still have an old black and gray Mastercraft Lapoint mounted on the wall in my shop. With stress fractures up the entire ski. Somewhere, I have a black, satin Mastercraft skis warm-up suit. :)
TylerR
Origional CDX has my number. I love that ski
Baller PatM Posted February 6, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 6, 2013 CDX. It was one of the first ones, the fin stuck up out of the top of the fin box. I had to hacksaw it down flush with the fin box at regionals due to it being a safety issue. Great ski. I know people who still ski well on it today. Baller B_S Posted February 6, 2013 Author Baller Share Posted February 6, 2013 Another really old one was the original O'Brien TRC from '84, I think, when it actually had the Titanium Reinforced Core.

Baller skier2788 Posted February 6, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 6, 2013 Connelly rocket. Wish I hadnt outgrown that thing. Ran inti 22off @36 on that ski at 16 or 17. Grew to 6 foot 2 and it was too short. My concepy was good but the rocket was better.

Baller Ed_Obermeier Posted February 7, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 7, 2013 Pre 2000? I'm with @6balls, hands down the CR7. In fact I still have one (got way too many old skis laying around here), a low mileage 70" from my heavier days. Probably could still rock it despite the size. bogboy
5, that I can remember. The rear tow piece of combo's, around 1967. wood shop, around 1971. Used the shop class 2 piece forms, with ply, glue, laminent, top cap, table saw for the concave, and traced a little wider and longer(still have it in my rafters). world team comp, green glass bottom, wood top (around 1973). World teem comp, green aluminum top, green glass bottom around 1974, BFS, around 1995. All a lot of fun, but I regret no coaching.

Baller_ The_MS Posted February 7, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted February 7, 2013 Monza was still under 1k. @Ed is correct on the yellow CR7.
Baller estrom Posted February 7, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 7, 2013 I used a Kidder Redline, Connelly HP, Jobe, HO...but the Mastercraft LaPoint Pro was the first one that I said "WOW - that is a step above the rest".
Baller B_S Posted February 7, 2013 Author Baller Share Posted February 7, 2013 thager, while my intention was pre year 2000, I did think about it being construed as less than $2000. Figured I'd just leave it ambiguous and see how it was interprete
Baller_ The_MS Posted February 7, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted February 7, 2013 Oops, pre 2000 makes the Monza out of the equation. CR7.
Baller swc5150 Posted February 7, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 7, 2013 Mastercraft LaPoint Radius was the first ski that moved my skiing forward. I liked my Connelly Attack too in the 90's.
