Baller_ RichardDoane Posted September 27, 2013 Baller_ Report Posted September 27, 2013 still practicing for Imperial in October, then continue for Honolulu in February, then it's only 3 months until May's tournaments start all over again
Baller tfriess Posted September 27, 2013 Baller Report Posted September 27, 2013 End of season= Start of high intensity workouts for next season!
Baller Texas6 Posted September 27, 2013 Baller Report Posted September 27, 2013 I hurt everywhere and I will ski myself into a full body cast if I am not forced to take a break at some point.
Baller otisg Posted September 27, 2013 Baller Report Posted September 27, 2013 This has been the worst summer for skiing that I can remember - too much wind and from the wrong direction... Skiing once every ten days doesn't cut it. And Then - The entire State of New Jersey moved here because Hurricane Sandy wrecked their beaches. So they came here and littered our roads with REALLY BAD drivers....
Baller Ed_Obermeier Posted September 27, 2013 Baller Report Posted September 27, 2013 Usually its a welcome rest. I'm like @Texas6, if the season never ended I'd never heal up. This season it's depressing - was really starting to get comfortable with 35's, getting 3 and 4 consistently, felt close to running it for the first time. Labor Day weekend I somehow buggered up my GOOD knee (the one I don't already wear a brace on...), lost 4 weeks of the best part of the season. Just now getting back on the water but the rust definitely set in. Be happy to run decent 32's again before the weather craps out on us. Bummer.
Gold Member Than_Bogan Posted September 27, 2013 Gold Member Report Posted September 27, 2013 I enjoy taking November completely off. Then the 2014 season's preparations begin in earnest in December. But I need an "all of the above" choice. I hate to see the end, but I also enjoy the rest.
Baller ALPJr Posted September 27, 2013 Baller Report Posted September 27, 2013 A welcome rest. Two kids in high school, with honors classes and both playing sports 6 days a week. Working 50 to 60 hours a week, enjoying a few autumn bicycle rides and time to start prepping the home for winter. Then the first week of December basketball season starts - my son's senior season and I ref' 3 to 5 games a week. Then we hit early spring when softball and track begin. By the end of June the start of skiing season serves as a rest from the past 9 months. Hmm' starts as a rest and ends as a rest...
Baller kstateskier Posted September 27, 2013 Baller Report Posted September 27, 2013 Usually I find the end of the season a welcomed rest. However this summer was a complete workaholic nightmare. New job, new city, no skiing. Its October and I'm just now getting my ski out of the bag and trying to get back to running buoys. I will say however that by the middle of 2012 I was BURNT OUT. Skiing 6-10 sets a week I literally lost the joy in it. But now having taking considerable time away from the water - I'm recharged with a newfound sense of desire to run more buoys and enjoy the lake again! My October future holds some time in Orlando as well as a new ski purchase, and if I find the right one maybe even a new boat!
Baller rayn Posted September 27, 2013 Baller Report Posted September 27, 2013 In 2 years when my kids graduate HS, I am going to figure out a way to work in FL Jan-Apr. then come back to MA for the ski season up here
Baller ski6jones Posted September 27, 2013 Baller Report Posted September 27, 2013 As much as I hate for ski season to end I really need it to so I can get caught up on things I didn't do during ski season. I'll still get out for a set any nice weekend we have during winter.
Baller Skoot1123 Posted September 27, 2013 Baller Report Posted September 27, 2013 I'm really going to miss those after work sets. But the rest of my ski family needs to heal up! Hockey and snow skiing are around the corner though!
Baller BRY Posted September 28, 2013 Baller Report Posted September 28, 2013 Moved to FL a few months ago, water was 89 for my set this evening. Not sure how no snow ski season is going to go though, prob miss that. I guess I can figure that out mid-winter, after I take a set...
Baller sunperch Posted September 28, 2013 Baller Report Posted September 28, 2013 Still skiing without a warm top in KS, so hopefully the end is not near, although my body could use a break. I'm not sure my body would let me ski year round but sure would like to try!!
Baller OTF Posted September 28, 2013 Baller Report Posted September 28, 2013 Not really so much the rest a guy needs but the time to get done everything I've neglected during the season.............let the yard work begin.
