Baller jbwann Posted June 11, 2015 Baller Share Posted June 11, 2015 I have heard that some skiers might choose a different Zero Off Setting on different boats. I typically go with B2 on our Nautique 200. In a 3 round tournament, we usually see the Nautique, a Malibu, and a Mastercraft. Anyone have any thoughts on this?? Change settings for each boat?? Thx guys
Baller webbdawg99 Posted June 11, 2015 Baller Share Posted June 11, 2015 Depends on the engine. I skied behind one of the Malibu Open boats and had to change settings bc the engine was so much more powerful than I was used to. Same thing when I skied with Tom and June Asher. They had a 6.2 (I believe) Malibu. If it's a 5.7, I'll use the same setting as I do on my home boat, a 5.7
Baller acmx Posted June 11, 2015 Baller Share Posted June 11, 2015 Start at your normal setting, you can adjust during your turn if you don't like the feel.
Baller Chef23 Posted June 11, 2015 Baller Share Posted June 11, 2015 I am not sensitive enough nor have I had enough time to mess with different ZO settings. I ski A2 all the time.
Baller Marco Posted June 11, 2015 Baller Share Posted June 11, 2015 I have changed settings after running my opening pass. Run your opener then adjust as needed.
Baller_ The_MS Posted June 12, 2015 Baller_ Share Posted June 12, 2015 Use B2 on them all unless you feel something strange. You can switch settings after each pass if you would like.
Baller webbdawg99 Posted June 12, 2015 Baller Share Posted June 12, 2015 @scotchipman I ski C2 behind the 5.7 and 6.0 Nautique. I also ski C2 w 5.7 MC. I have not skied behind a larger MC engine. The larger Malibu engines I went to C1
Baller Stejcraftben Posted June 12, 2015 Baller Share Posted June 12, 2015 At a malibu tournament here in aus we had 5.7 response and a 6.0 response. I run b2 and had no issue behind the 5.7 but everytime I skiied behind the 6.0 I was a full pass down, it was like being pulled by a frieght train. Baller John Brooks Posted June 12, 2015 Baller Share Posted June 12, 2015 C2 behind 5.7 liter, B2 behind any 6 liter.
Baller_ MISkier Posted June 12, 2015 Baller_ Share Posted June 12, 2015 I switched yesterday between round 1 and round 2. Went from C2+ to C2. First time behind the 2015 MC. I can't say for sure that it was the difference between the MC and our usual 2015 TXi, as I had massive first tournament jitters that made my round 1 passes look like a train wreck. Will retry C2+ on the MC later in the summer when the jitters lessen a little. The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears.
Baller webbdawg99 Posted June 12, 2015 Baller Share Posted June 12, 2015 @Stejcraftben That was my exact experience as well. Skiing behind a 6.0 Nautique seemed easier and slower. But the Malibu definitely felt like I was skiing 38mph!
Baller Chef23 Posted June 12, 2015 Baller Share Posted June 12, 2015 I usually just figured I skied crappy when I feel different behind a different boat. Never thought it might be the settings.
Gold Member Than_Bogan Posted June 12, 2015 Gold Member Share Posted June 12, 2015 How would know what to change? I can barely explain how I chose my setting after trying them all. I can't imagine being able to guess a better setting based on one pass!
Baller_ The_MS Posted June 12, 2015 Baller_ Share Posted June 12, 2015 I started at -28 C1 with a 6L 200 and it felt good. I Switched to B1 at -32 and it felt out of sync so I went back to C1 for -35 and 38. This was after I wasted a round at B1 and never felt the boat was with me. Baller webbdawg99 Posted June 12, 2015 Baller Share Posted June 12, 2015 @Than_Bogan Picking you up too soon off the ball? Too late? Having a hard time getting free of the boat off the second wake? Feeling you're throttled too hard through the edge change? Just gotta go with what you feel and use the following chart as your basis for change:
Baller Andre Posted June 12, 2015 Baller Share Posted June 12, 2015 Looking at that graphic,C3 looks brutal! Love my PP Classic! My ski finish in 16.95 but my ass is out of tolerance!
Baller_ The_MS Posted June 12, 2015 Baller_ Share Posted June 12, 2015 No more brutal then A3/B3, just in a different location.
