Baller Not_The_Pug Posted September 9, 2015 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2015 If you were coming down from South Lake, you probably saw Sierra Springs and Ski Oasis. They are both south of Carson City. I think Sierra does memberships, not sure about Oasis.
Baller igkya Posted September 9, 2015 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2015 I'm a member at Oasis, PM if interested.
stretch
Going to Reno 9/9-9/12/16. Any slalom courses close by to get my fix?
Baller LoopSki Posted August 29, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 29, 2018 Just saw Sierra springs. Work brought me to Minden NV. Stopped by to take a look as one as early for my meeting. Butts up right against freeway.
Baller_ The_MS Posted August 29, 2018 Baller_ Share Posted August 29, 2018 Vegas needs to build a 5 lake site and host Nats every year
Baller Drago Posted August 29, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 29, 2018 Bako is close. Different smell
Baller LoopSki Posted August 29, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 29, 2018 Vegas would make a great location. Assuming water is expensive
Baller oldjeep Posted August 29, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 29, 2018 @MS seems to be an empty spot big enough right here outside my window.
Baller dvskier Posted August 29, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 29, 2018 Nevada is the driest state, Utah is the second driest state. I'd predict that citizens would protest ski sites as being unwise use of scarce resources.
Baller igkya Posted August 30, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 30, 2018 I can help you with Ski Oasis (next to Sierra Springs), not so much with SS. There's also a private lake just south of Reno but you need to own land or have an invite. Send me a PM.
Baller LoopSki Posted August 30, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 30, 2018 Is ski oasis one of the lakes behind Sierra Springs ? I was early to my my meeting , saw some bouys and gave myself a self tour. On my way back home , their was someone skiing. I'd take you up on an invite , but not sure when I will make it back out That way. I was amazed at the great weather. Always thought that area was blown out. Baller_ The_MS Posted August 30, 2018 Baller_ Share Posted August 30, 2018 Probably use less water then the MGM grand
Baller igkya Posted August 30, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 30, 2018 SS can be seen from the highway and skis east/west. Oasis (skis north/south) is a bit off the hwy , ~1/4 mile away. Wind can be an issue in the afternoon, but typically great conditions in the morning or evenings.
Baller thager Posted August 30, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 30, 2018 Laughlin, Nevada has water and gambling. Land would be cheaper I would think and attracts huge numbers of water lovers to the river. I would think a lake system with a ski school could be busy all the time. Baller bigskieridaho Posted August 30, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 30, 2018 There is also the site across the 580 From washoe lake. Not sure who’s that is though.

Baller LoopSki Posted August 30, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 30, 2018 It looks like Sierra would easily get blown with hardly any trees around it
ToddF
The washoe site is short, but they extended it a few years ago. Originally it was dug out from the freeway construction. it is private as well, and I haven't skied it so I don't how well it skis when there is enough water washoe lake used to have a course too
