Baller TEL Posted August 6, 2016 Baller Share Posted August 6, 2016 Been struggling to run 28off, but today it happened. I was reading some old post from 2013 or 2014 stating that 28off was the first pass if you do not get a good gate you can't get anywhere (when your first trying to run the pass.) so my second set today I went of the dock at 28off to practice my gates only, on the 4th practice run I pulled off a decent gate and a good ball one and the rest was history. Getting high on the boat now makes since and not leaning on the tail of the ski to make my turn into the gates makes it all happen.

Baller Steveo Posted August 6, 2016 Baller Share Posted August 6, 2016 Way to go @TEL ! Guess we both have something to celebrate today as my Dr gave me the go ahead to ski. It was just a free ski making turns with both hands on the handle. It was great to be on the water after missing most of the summer.

Baller cragginshred Posted August 8, 2016 Baller Share Posted August 8, 2016 Awesome! I ran -28 the first time last year and am now running it at full speed this year too!! Early edge change is key but what makes that happen is getting up on the boat as you said! Still working on that myself.
Baller skihard Posted August 9, 2016 Baller Share Posted August 9, 2016 Feels good doesn't it? Just wait until you run 32! :) I've only managed 32 once and still hacking away at it!
Baller TEL Posted August 9, 2016 Author Baller Share Posted August 9, 2016 The only down side to this sport. The high only last till you get in the boat and someone says, now you can work on the next loop.
Baller VONMAN Posted August 9, 2016 Baller Share Posted August 9, 2016 Tel, is that a AMC Javelin? I was a designer at AMC 1970 to 1987. Ernie Schlager
Baller TEL Posted August 9, 2016 Author Baller Share Posted August 9, 2016 69 SST Javelin 390, It's my pro tour car I built. You can google tom's amc javelin been featured in Hot Rod, Car Craft and Mopar magazines. Built a few cars when I took 14 years off from skiing. Caught the slalom bug again 3 years ago. Pretty cool you worked as a designer for AMC.
Baller cragginshred Posted August 9, 2016 Baller Share Posted August 9, 2016 @TEL what works for you on the pull out/glide/gate -drop in timing width ect differently at -28 than -22 for you? How long did you ski at -22 before getting into -28? 34.2mph I assume?
Baller TEL Posted August 9, 2016 Author Baller Share Posted August 9, 2016 Hated the bump at 22off of my 2008 196 so I had In-Tow make me a rope with 25off loop made it 2014 for the first time started running it comfortably this year. In-Tow also made a 18off loop so I run that first, odd but works for me. When ever I free ski I always ski at 28off I think that really helps. I only ski once or twice a week so it was a big deal. Love my D3 H2
Baller cragginshred Posted August 11, 2016 Baller Share Posted August 11, 2016 @TEL that's exactly what I do/did to get into -28! In fact I am now coming off the dock at -25 because -22 feels so long. I made back to back -25's last night then one -28 in my second set so I was super stoked!
