Baller dbski Posted May 2, 2018 Baller Share Posted May 2, 2018 After this spring I wasn't sure I'd ever get here but today I finished getting all the dock, lifts and posts in. Now the fun part of dropping in the boats and enjoying the summer!
Baller xrated Posted May 2, 2018 Baller Share Posted May 2, 2018 Man that is a long dock! Ice just went out on our southern Canada lake yesterday. Snow fence down and hoping to get some docks in this weekend. Boat likely won't happen until closer to Memorial, still have to wax, etc.
Baller oldjeep Posted May 2, 2018 Baller Share Posted May 2, 2018 Only thing in my folks lake is ice. I guess it is 60 feet from shore now, but it only takes one good wind to change that ;)
Baller_ DW Posted May 2, 2018 Baller_ Share Posted May 2, 2018 Your setup looks like a perfect place for a Red Bull Flugtag contest, starting from your deck.
Baller dbski Posted May 2, 2018 Author Baller Share Posted May 2, 2018 After cranking in augers for 20 sections it feels a mile long! I have to change to pads. Even after all that dock I'm only chest deep and I'm short! At least its sand all the way out. I'll reveal my age, what's a Flugtag contest? Baller Keith_Menard Posted May 2, 2018 Baller Share Posted May 2, 2018 Do you use the kayaks to get out to your boat? :) #yesiamjealous
Baller dbski Posted May 2, 2018 Author Baller Share Posted May 2, 2018 The labs get up to full speed when they dock dive!
Baller RAWSki Posted May 2, 2018 Baller Share Posted May 2, 2018 Wow that's a lot of dock! I'm sore just looking at it. We put in 10 sections total and it's PLENTY. Hope @Shell and I get to ski with you this season DB.

Baller PatM Posted May 2, 2018 Baller Share Posted May 2, 2018 @dbski Love the deck. What is the wood and how is it finished?
Baller dbski Posted May 2, 2018 Author Baller Share Posted May 2, 2018 @Pat M It's cedar with Sikkens Dek finish, cedar color. I 'm happy with it but beware cedar is pretty soft and if you have a bunch of rambunctious kids they'll beat it up. Maintenance is a fresh coat about every 3-4 years. Being a woodworker there's just no way I can own a plastic deck. House is all all natural wood too. @RAWski Lets go for a ski when you pick up your ski. Baller tlarocque Posted May 3, 2018 Baller Share Posted May 3, 2018 Just gorgeous. Where in Michigan? My cousin is moving back there in June. My mom said the ice is all but gone from her lake in WI. Better be warm by the time I get there in June!
Baller dbski Posted May 3, 2018 Author Baller Share Posted May 3, 2018 I'm in southern MI about 5 miles from the MIS racetrack. Our ice was out the beginning of March. The last two days its been 85!
Baller 6balls Posted May 4, 2018 Baller Share Posted May 4, 2018 It's so late this year...got dock/lift in but not adjusted today on public lake. Saturday hoping dock and life on ski swamp. Baller 6balls Posted May 6, 2018 Baller Share Posted May 6, 2018 Getting closer. Dock/lift/boat all in at the swamp. Dock/boat/lift all in at home. Gotta throw on canopy cover at home then done. After that we need to find time to raise 2 courses and SUMMER IS ON!!!
Baller braindamage Posted May 7, 2018 Baller Share Posted May 7, 2018 Got everything in today, but boat had 3-water leaks in the engine compartment. Had to replace the impeller pump. I’ll take her out tomorrow for the initial ski/cruise!!

Baller xrated Posted May 7, 2018 Baller Share Posted May 7, 2018 Final dock is in, lift is in. Now just need no rain on Friday so I can wax the boat and splash it.
Baller_ DW Posted May 7, 2018 Baller_ Share Posted May 7, 2018 With all the chatter on getting the season started, I decided to name the day after the first day of water ski season - "the day of pain". Does not seem to matter what I do for the pre season fitness training, that day after the first hard blast always seems to be the one the CFO pokes her finger at those tender spots on the back just to get that sadistic chuckle after I writher in pain...
