Baller ballsohard Posted August 12, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 12, 2018 What mods are the best for the reflex hardshell in order to increase performance? Maybe @adamhcaldwell and @AdamCord could chime in and tell us what to do and how to do it?
Baller jimski Posted August 12, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 12, 2018 Cut the back of of it for starters
Administrators Horton Posted August 12, 2018 Administrators Share Posted August 12, 2018 @ballsohard unless you're trying to fix something specific just use the bone stock shell. I have modified shells and I have a shell that @AdamCord customized for me but in the end the bone stock shell is as good as everything. Baller C5Quest Posted August 13, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 13, 2018 @jimski. What’s the advantage of cutting off the top ? Never thought of that. I was going to try and pin the upper in a forward canted position as others have here. I think I have way too much movement going on and need to keep ankle and shins forward. Baller Ed_Johnson Posted August 13, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 13, 2018 Cut the back, pin the cuff, and heat the toe to straiten it out. That's about it. The only other mod I have heard of, is cutting slits between the buckles to allow it to flex more. I havn't done that one yet.
Baller C5Quest Posted August 13, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 13, 2018 I get pinning the cuff. What’s cutting the back and heat the toe do? Ye the way Ed I used your advice and used the washer on my fin. Thing is crazy good onside now
Baller rockdog Posted August 13, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 13, 2018 I wish I hadn't cut the back off, did nothing for me but make it harder to put on. Slit is a good idea though between bottom two buckles, it helps to distribute the buckle pressure better on your foot.
Baller eleeski Posted August 13, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 13, 2018 Best mod for Reflex? Size it for an Intuition liner, get an orthotic and heat mold the liner. Perfect fit makes the biggest difference. Eric
Baller jimski Posted August 13, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 13, 2018 Cutting the back off for me took away some of the leverage when my body position gets behind my ankles. I also heated the bottom of the toe where the ball of your foot sits and the toe so it sits flatter on the plate Less stress and reverse flex on the plate and ski. I tried cutting slots in the toes of one boot I have and compleatly made it un skiable for me way to sloppy.
Baller MrJones Posted August 13, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 13, 2018 It cut the back and built a bondo footbed that mimics the one that Reflex sells. Regular black boot. (I'm not sure either really matter...)
Baller bkreis Posted August 13, 2018 Baller Share Posted August 13, 2018 leave the boots alone unless you're ok with the risk! They work great as they are....
