Baller Shell Posted June 17, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 17, 2019 Can anyone explain this strange happening in SE Michigan about noon today? @RAWSki captured this site ----- the water was unusual. No drops in it. No white edges. It almost had a mirror like look to it.

Baller 2Valve Posted June 17, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 17, 2019 my buddy and I have been getting out every night after work. The water's at least 10F under norm for this time of year, but my wife has been getting in serious driving time with nobody else on the lake. Baller LOTW Posted June 17, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 17, 2019 Late start in northern Ontario also, getting pretty frustrated. I had to get the fireplace going last night as I watched the rain.

Baller epnault Posted June 17, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 17, 2019 It has been a slow, cold, and wet start in the upper Midwest too. Not sun bathing weather yet but if you are a skier it is heaven. No tubers or other wally weekend warriors out messing up the water.
Baller Jetsetr Posted June 17, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 17, 2019 Most of the lakes in SE WI have no wakes due to high water :(

Baller WoodySkier Posted June 17, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 17, 2019 Been skiing 2-3 times a week in SE Mich, but conditions haven’t been ideal, water is still not 70 degrees. Weather has been pretty awful.
Baller Andy Posted June 18, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 18, 2019 Looks that way here too this particular evening. Enjoying the heater top so far this season.
Baller BOS_Shirts Posted June 18, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 18, 2019 Seriously. Our 5:45 a.m. start temp in MN last week was only 47 degrees. I actually put on my drysuit.

Baller_ MISkier Posted June 18, 2019 Baller_ Share Posted June 18, 2019 We had our first tournament tonight. It had been rescheduled due to the previous date having rain, 25 mph winds, and a high temp of 55. Today was calm, rain free, and in the low 70s. Water temp is still 15-20 cooler than last year. The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears.

Baller oldjeep Posted June 18, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 18, 2019 Keeps raining and staying cold here in MN. Had the boat out exactly once and it was a no wake day due to high water. Been getting a lot of miles on the bikes and no hours on the boat. Hope it gets better soon, but until then.

Baller oldjeep Posted June 18, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 18, 2019 @2Valve Thanks, it's a 2003 FZ1. The other toy just gets used in town 81 KZ750, with no wind screen it is a little sketchy on the freeway. Still in the midst of some cosmetic upgrades on that one. Baller_ DW Posted June 18, 2019 Baller_ Share Posted June 18, 2019 Lets just hope @oldjeep doesn't go postal and take start using the vehicle in the background. Nice ride!
Baller DaveD Posted June 18, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 18, 2019 @Horton It doesn’t look like that at your place because the sun actually comes out there. Between the rain, wind, cloudy days, downturn in the auto industry, and road construction, I can’t believe there isn’t a line of moving trucks heading for the Michigan boarders. On the positive side, we’re not using much sun screen.

Baller 2Valve Posted June 18, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 18, 2019 @DaveD On the positive side, the cool water is keeping most of the other traffic at the docks and allowing our club to do some 'four legged spotter' training.
Baller_ MISkier Posted June 18, 2019 Baller_ Share Posted June 18, 2019 @2Valve, the way that dog is sitting up on that seat, just get it to wear a hoodie and I think you’d be good to go all summer (should it actually arrive) without getting busted. The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears.
Baller 2Valve Posted June 18, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 18, 2019 @MISkier he even barks when the skier falls. A hoodie might be in the works. I like it!
Members Greg Banish
Only happens when we have to work... Day jobs are overrated. At this rate, Wade is going to have his work cut out trying to fix my skiing next month.

Baller BraceMaker Posted June 18, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 18, 2019 I took my set Sunday 2 weeks back as wind picked up. Then tricked because hey why not. Baller 2Valve Posted June 19, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 19, 2019 water temp hit 70 yesterday.....finally. Boats didn't hit the docks 'til 9, so we waited a few minutes and ran our sets under a gorgeous MI sunset.

Baller BrennanKMN Posted June 19, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 19, 2019 I am digging these 'cold & rainy' conditions myself. Less bozos on the lake! One of the many reasons I much prefer using the boat before Memorial Day and after Labor Day. All the crazies pack it in for the season.

Baller_ MISkier Posted June 21, 2019 Baller_ Share Posted June 21, 2019 One thing I know about this particular year is that I have had to select mowing the lawn over water skiing more than once. That should never, ever happen. The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears.
Baller RAWSki Posted June 21, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 21, 2019 @MISkier I totally understand that, Are you considering investing in multiple Dry Suits??
Baller_ MISkier Posted June 21, 2019 Baller_ Share Posted June 21, 2019 @RAWSki, you and @Shell won't believe this, but I have actually been in just a heater top and shorts. Skied that way in the first tournament on Monday and various (but not all) practice sets since last week. I'll also ski with just top and shorts at the Meijer State Games on Saturday. And, I already have multiple drysuits. Always need a backup. However, with this weather, I may have to start buying them by the gross. I know I definitely need to increase my Camaro heater top inventory. The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears.

sixball
How true this has been one of the worst Michigan summers yet! when its been good we have had so much debris its hard to get good runs. Public lake. Had a night late May early June air temp @ 39. Hat to say it but even dug the dry suit out once in June.
