Sorry no 3event related. Has anyone tried a foil board? Apparently it’s an alternative to wake surfing where you need a big wave . you can ride a foil board on a very small wake or no wake at all. Apparently also rides fine in very shallow water like ski lakes. I’m having a rep for one of the companies that makes these come out so we can try one.

I do know some people who do it. They have a Malibu surf boat, and used to wake board/surf a bit. They do this a lot now. Sounds like it is a ton of fun.

Yes, If you get a higher quality foil you can definitely ride it behind a regular ski boat unassisted by a rope.

My buddy uses one off a 2007 196 stock. Maybe trick lever engaged. We just go in a gradual circle.

I've been thinking about one of these for awhile. How big of a front wing do you need to have fun behind a DD? They make them pretty massive now for small wakes, but big intro price on this for never witnessed someone foiling before.

We watched a foil windsurfer off the coast of Stonington CT last week. Very impressive speed and smooth riding above the chop in a steady 20~ mph wind from the south and many boat wakes.

I have one, great fun and can "fly" using an unballasted prostar at 10mph, can even use it without at boat and just pump around the lake and catch other peoples wakes. Infact we did it behind a 12ft zodiac with a 15hp yammy

 

On Nicolas LeForestiers advice we bought a GONG mast and wing/stabiliser (350 Euros) and bolted it to an old wakeboard. I rode it for 5km before my back got tired

 

I'm 180lb and use a 1900mm2 920mm wide front foil (but the same setup worked for my son below, he just had to stand a bit further forward than me)
