Baller MitchellM Posted June 4, 2023 Baller Share Posted June 4, 2023 Strolled through the Mastercraft dealer yesterday where a beautiful Prostar sat in the showroom. I am in the market for a boat, but thought only of buying a late model used boat. When I asked the price, I was told $140k for the boat but that the price was negotiable. Realistically, what's the price of a new prostar from a busy dealership? They would obviously like to move a boat they have sitting in stock. I might be interested in buying if the price was right. I had foolishly hoped this would not be as painful as buying a car. Sadly, I was mistaken.
Baller bananaron Posted June 4, 2023 Baller Share Posted June 4, 2023 You can probably find a new one for $120,000.Also can pick up a 2022 with low hours for $85,000.....
Baller Stevie Boy Posted June 4, 2023 Baller Share Posted June 4, 2023 I know the price of boats is eye watering, but it's about how long you intend to keep it, and it's about the value when you sell it, never going to make you money, realistically how much does a new boat devalue, if you look after it ? $35,000 in one year seems a lot. Baller MDB1056 Posted June 4, 2023 Baller Share Posted June 4, 2023 From a purely financial point of view a new boat is as poor of a decision as a new car. No different . Neither can be rationalized by the numbers
Baller dave2ball Posted June 4, 2023 Baller Share Posted June 4, 2023 Boats are not moving as fast as they were. Throw out a price and see if they bit. You can always walk away. There loss.

I might bite at $

Baller dave2ball Posted June 4, 2023 Baller Share Posted June 4, 2023 @MitchellM the boat is only worth what the person is willing to pay. 2022 Promos are going for 80K or so. Low ball them. You can always go up. Just can’t come down.
Baller swc5150 Posted June 5, 2023 Baller Share Posted June 5, 2023 (edited) Wait until next year when it's still sitting there, then shoot them an offer. That's how I practically stole my '15 Prostar from a dealer. But if you put in an offer now, shoot for 25% off MSRP + the government's vig. Baller dave2ball Posted June 5, 2023 Baller Share Posted June 5, 2023 (edited) @swc5150if this boat is in fla that tactic will not work. The boat will be gone either here in Florida or Michigan. Edited June 5, 2023 by dave2ball

Baller swc5150 Posted June 7, 2023 Baller Share Posted June 7, 2023 Do you know how long the boat has been in stock? The longer the better obviously.
