Baller Andre Posted August 5, 2023 Baller Posted August 5, 2023 I remember seeing a post about ZO display and someone repairing them. Anyone knows who? My ski finish in 16.95 but my ass is out of tolerance!
Baller jpwhit Posted August 5, 2023 Baller Posted August 5, 2023 I've repaired a few. PM me and give me a little more detail. What boat / year and if it's just fading or the display is completely dead. 2
Baller addkerr Posted August 8, 2023 Baller Posted August 8, 2023 I have done a few screen replacements. 1
wakeraider Posted August 8, 2023 Posted August 8, 2023 I have a fading screen, believe it's the original in a 2010 Prostar. What is involved in fixing the screen?
Baller jpwhit Posted August 8, 2023 Baller Posted August 8, 2023 The standard LCD panel in all the Zero Off head units that I've repaired had a semi-custom LCD assembly. It's pretty similar to a standard 128x64 LCD, but it has an FFC connector directly on the LCD that's not typical. To repair them, I ordered a high quality standard 128x64 assembly that is based on the same LCD controller and fabricated an adapter to go between the LCD and the FFC cable. I also had to add a level shifting circuit for the LCD contrast control to work correctly.
Baller Dockoelboto Posted August 9, 2023 Baller Posted August 9, 2023 I had a fading screen on a 2013 TXi. I ended up replacing and "upgrading" to the single puck. There is a guy on ski-it-again selling kits. big advantage is they come pre-programmed.
Baller_ aupatking Posted October 16, 2023 Baller_ Posted October 16, 2023 I need to get a PP multiline (current style) screen replaced. Anyone done on of those? Any idea if the same 128x64 screen would do? I also need a ZO screen done too.
Baller motoxr Posted October 17, 2023 Baller Posted October 17, 2023 I was lucky enough to have jpwhit complete our screen repair. I can't say enough about how helpful he is! He's terrific!
Baller jpwhit Posted October 18, 2023 Baller Posted October 18, 2023 I haven't been into a PP unit in quite a while so I don't remember what screen they use. The screen used in ZO units is a semi-custom part in terms of how it connects to the ZO main circuit board. I designed and had a PCB made to allow the connection of a standard LCD to the ZO circuit board. @motorxr glad your 7" ProStar screen is working well ! 1
