  1. One time I had a loose horseshoe pull through and wear the plate... it was carbon. I had some painfull falls and got a new plate for free and now I just check it every few weeks.
  2. I feel like 36 mph skiers will have an unfair disadvantage. These tournaments being catered towards 34 mph skiers strike me as odd but whatever, they're the majority of the skiing population it seems. And God forbid a pro shows up and rains on anyone'a parade.. making a retired pro ski at 36 and then scoring him for 34 is just trying to knock him down
  3. I didn't see the entry fees and didn't know they were different. Makes sense now
  4. Only 16 firkins? But there will be 32 finalists with the 2 divisions! I'm also curious as to why the cash prize is SIGNIFICANTLY larger for the 34 skiers, as well as why only they get the night finals... seems a bit biased. Or is it simply that a larger turnout is expected for 34?
  5. Tomlin is coaching at the Stallings' place just a few miles away from me
  6. @Eric Kelley that sounds good. So to clarify... ALL skiers ski the record qualifying and then sweet 16 finals broken up into 34 and 36 divisions with 34 being at night and 36 during the day?
  7. For the 36 mph head to head what are the qualifications? I definitely fall in the category of not going to win anything, but it sounds fun!
  8. I've always wanted to know, how do these pro-am type tournaments work anyway? I mean for us average joes
  9. Transition- making it a little earlier and riding the line and casting the ski out instead of skiing straight at the ball. Pretty crucial for me at 32 and 35
  10. With a substantial amount of skiers in each division I think it would be more fun. Because we don't have that, and so many skiers are on different levels, something has to change.
  11. For those who say "travel" and "ski the larger events," take juniors into consideration. I'm 17 and when skiing local tournaments there is NO ONE in my division. most guys are skiing 34 instead of 36, and only a handful are on my level (usually run -32), some are much better and some are worse. I don't really have anyone to ski against so it isn't as fun as it should be. There are only two tournaments a year where I actually feel like I'm competing and that's regionals and nationals. "Larger" tournaments still have avery small participation from juniors. I believe that is a big reason why people my age don't want to get into this sport... they don't have a group to do it with. I think many of us agree that nat's can be a royal pain in the ass, so make that one tournament per year for someone my age. If you're wondering about state tournaments, in TN there are usually only around 3 B3 slalom skiers... not much competition.
  12. Another question.... I trick with the same boot I slalom with, but only about 10 times a year. Will the heel strap get in the way?
  13. How much softer is the white cuff? I've grown out of my current reflrex black cuff and I'm looking at maybe getting a white one for the next. I like the heel strap because it looks like it would help protect the achilles tendon, but I like the way my current cuff feels.
  14. Dang, a lot of people seem to really not like these. I mean, I don't trust them either, but I've never skied on them. Anyone have any stories they wanna share about a bad experience?
  15. Head hitting the water you're probable best without the helmet. It would have more drag than just your head and could cause neck injury. It could help if you hit the ski though, which I personally have never done
  16. @Chef23 who cares what event it is... it's skiing and it's on tv. Jump is every bit as good as slalom and vice versa... same goes for trick Wakeboarding however, not equal
  17. @rico the reason I'm so surprised is because he had agreat 1. He was likely too fast to turn and get away with it, but he was by no means barely squeaking by. Pause when he's right on top of two... so relaxed
  18. What I mean is it is more difficult to turn the ski and point at 3-ball like you mean business. Being able to turn 2 takes a lot more than barely getting there and standing up. If I see a skier turn a ball and go down trying I think he is more than capable of getting to the next on a good day. If he stands up, I might not think he's even close to getting to the next ball any time soon. In the video it looked to me like CP could've turned. He still would've scored 1.5, but it would've been more impressive.
  19. In my mind turning 2-ball and falling puts more pressure on the other guys than standing up for a full two. Millisecond decisions I guess...
  20. @Horton I just expected him to go for it and fall instead of try to stand up. Considering the score was 1.5, I didn't think he would turn and make it to the wakes.
  21. I was expecting him to turn 2. Was he just too fast?
  22. @ShaneH I'm a little off topic, but are they really that good?
  23. If the fin is mounted further forward, wouldn't that just change the place where the ski can't flex because of the block? So the tail can flex, but what about the place further forward where it's mounted? I don't know much about ski flex, so is the ski supposed to be stiffer there?
  24. looks like goode finally came up with some interesting graphics for once...
