  1. @Onic Palandjian It was a joke. Multiply your age by the number of years you've been skiing. you should come up with a ludicrously large number
  2. As a junior, the reason i ski local tournaments is almost entirely social. I go hang out with everyone in the community, ride in the boat, and ski a few rounds that mean nothing more than practice. For a junior, tournaments don't mean anything unless you're competing for the regional/national title. For those of us who are below the top 10 there is no competition. Actually having some competition would make things fun for once. It's time for a format change...
  3. Muscle care as well as not killing yourself. A couple years ago I went too hard at it in the first week and ended up having shoulder and back problems for the entire season. Don't end up like that. Pace yourself
  4. The number of sets per week that you ski should be your age multiplied by the number of years you've been skiing
  5. So i got back home a couple days ago. The snow was hard packed, but it was definitely skiable. It was a lot of fun.
  6. Thanks for the info! Hopefully it won't be too slushy next week with the warm temps. Last time i went was January of 2014 and I thought the snow was excellent, so I'm a little spoiled.
  7. So I'm probably going snow skiing in Colorado next week. Usually we go to Utah and try to do it when the weather is better, and I know there hasn't been much snow up there lately. Apparently there has been some this week, though. However, the temperatures are supposed to have highs in the 40's and lows in the 20's next week. If anyone has been there recently, I'm wondering if anyone knows how the snow is up there?
  8. And to think I just dropped a ton of cash on a Helix back in July... I wonder if the H2 is worth selling the old one and buying?

  10. I know I'm WAY behind on this one, but what was the suit over?
  11. I've talked before with someone about doing this for a state tournament. Group people into divisions by actual skill level. You may or may not have 14 year olds against 40 year olds, but it's fair because they are on the same level. None of that 39 off skier vs 9 year old running 17mph bs...
  12. How about instead of a handicap, you group people into groups based on their average (calculated however the heck you want to, that's beside the point) and have them scored whatever they actually score instead of a handicap. Then you have winners for D1 D2 D3 etc, instead of a 39 off skier getting beaten by a 12 year old who pb's at every other tournament
  13. I've been on a 13" forever just because of a recomendation that it would be easier to grab. I don't have a very broad chest, and honestly a 12" would probably fit me better.
  14. What was the purpose of the change? More low end torque?
  15. When I first started skiing at 36 I thought it was outrageous that anyone should have to ski at that speed. Now I wouldn't have it any other way.
  16. So now we have a link and everything for a spy cam on @Horton
  17. For the tournament skiers out there, what is your max speed for your division?
  18. @lpskier I too was excited about it being at SMRR, but had to miss it. Now that it's at okeeheelee it's just the same ol' tournament to me.
  19. I am level 8, currently ranked 18th in B3 slalom. I would enjoy a prelim/finals format, and maybe others would see it as an improvement.
  20. As a junior, it interfered with school which was too important last year. I would have gone if it was a week earlier or later.
  21. Thanks. I didn't know if anyone else was having this problem.
  22. For the past two days, nearly every time I go to the forum I see a page saying "Were you looking for the forum? Now might be a good time to go to the home page." I assume this is some kind of error message. While sometimes I can view the main forum page, I get this message every time I try to open and view a thread. I'm using Chrome. Any idea what's going on?
  23. Don't go with the masterline rope-type gaurd. You can put a hand or an arm through and it not come back out easily. Im a fan of the mesh one pictured above, and I might like one for myself. Where do you get it? Duct tape is probably the simplest answer, but if you want something more aesthetically pleasing...
