  1. What about a time limit. Each skier gets 7 minutes, can choose their wait time and can crash more then once in the set and still win. Big clock on the shoreline and the announce counts down from 10. I'm only half serious but I think that would be entertaining!! Boat driver proceeds to all pickups exactly the same
  2. @Edbrazil How did that come about??
  3. Always ski my best in the course when I get a bunch of open water sets in. A mile per hour faster and a rope length or two shorter.
  4. Nate looks like he has more then a few inches when rounding one ball too! If I was to bet I'd say he retires with 4.5 or 5. Nate won me over when I watched him ski 41 like his life depended on it, after he already put his competitor out at 39 and had another round to go. That's youth, but also an entertainer and intimidator!
  5. I'll be honest I was disappointed when I saw this title, but ended up thoroughly enjoying it!!
  6. @Glock Glock, I'm pretty sure those are your legs, you shouldn't mess with us like that!
  7. Sometimes I wonder if anyone will ever run a full pass at 43? I try and keep in mind the swing set momentum effect, but think about how many shots Nates had at it and "only" walked away with 2.5
  8. @Stevie Boy Oregonians flock to outdoor concerts!! I wonder what the numbers say about day jump verses night jump?
  9. @LeonL - @klindy That estimated budget would cover a nice payout for the competitors. Oregon has a HUGE water oriented market and is packed with companies that like to support anything out of the box. Combine that with a watersports/boat dealer who is an old school skier makes me think it's not too far fetched. Hats off to those who actually pull of a pro tour theses days, I've always admired their efforts!!
  10. @Horton all I care is Greg and Debbie keep bringing the California Pro Am there
  11. @Edbrazil Ed, I think I got ya on this one, I was there in 03 and 04. You got me wondering now if it was called something else? But I'm 90% sure it was titled Malibu Open
  12. Roughly estimating things I'm my head while working, I'm thinking 170 to 200 grand with some free labor involved.
  13. I am going to do my homework, just thought I'd throw a couple questions out here first. I may be dreaming but I picture a tournament like the 2003 04 Malibu open. I personally think you have to add Wakeboarding in to draw the crowd I'm wanting. There's 7 or 8 private sites within an hour or so to this lake, all with die hard skiers, and no pro tour that comes to town anymore. It may be a realistic goal...
  14. @ral I'm not sure if I agree with you or not, because yes, I'm going to watch every webcast and attend every pro tournament I possibly can regardless. That said, I bet 90% of the spectators could tell a difference between 22 and 40 off (or what ever the conversion is)
  15. @Chad_Scott Are any of the skiers travel expenses included in today's tournaments?
  16. @Horton @RazorRoss3 @bishop8950 - the course was just re-surveyed this September. Sounds like the only thing missing with the site is a judging tower, but I'm in construction. The dealer I know is a long time amateur 3 event skier and I'm positive I could get him to supply any model of Nautique or Malibu, plus the food stands. If I could convince him he'd sell a boat or two out of it he might even be willing to put up some prize money. 've only recently got a serious about trying to get it around. If everyone broke even somehow I know I could make it happen.
  17. @Horton You may be right, but many of "us" haven't been attending tournaments either. The more skiers getting 4.5 buoys or 5.5 buoys the better for watching
  18. @Roger @Horton my theory is 39.5 and shorter is very noticeable even to the untrained eye. An in between loop is going to bring scrappy skiing and probably several skiers barely getting through the end gates which does draw attention from all spectators! Adding a loop before 41 does require taking away one earlier in the set...
  19. @Horton I'm going to do my best to get it around for a pro tournament but want to try an experimental line length tournament for an amateur event as well. Both would take some serious campaigning!!
  20. I'm talking like the old pro tour where everybody showed up over one long weekend. It used to be a very successful turn out here in Oregon. I'm friends with the local ski shop/boat dealer, who shows interest and ski at a lake that could accommodate.Leaving prize money out of it is there anyone out there that could give me a ball park figure that I could run with? Anyone??
  21. A pro tournament would be WAY more exciting to watch if there were two suspenseful passes before 10.25. This can only be done by changing something or other in the precious rule book, I agree with @soIski that we should take a 2nd look at rope measurements. I want to sit on the shoreline, be blown away watching 39.5 (or whatever) then watch the pass knowing each guy has a 50/50 chance of running it. Yes 41 is becoming more commen, but it's still only 10 guys in nearly 20 years!! I'd love to host a pro event with experimental ropes to see how all involved felt about it? I picture it being a blast!!
  22. I equate Regina verses Whitney to the good old days of Magic verses Larry. Great entertainment!!
