  1. I ski with a friend who has the Syndicate and it's definitely more durable than a Camaro (I have a blacktec shorty), but it takes him about 3 minutes to wiggle into it. It looks great and functions well.
  2. I’ve got to go change my vote on this one. I had a pre-release on this last Friday night going through the gates and had the worst fall of my life. My free foot hit the water and flipped me at least twice. I lived, but it was terrifying for me and for everyone watching from the shore and the boat. I hurt my neck and back, lots of Ibuprofen the next day, but nothing worse. I’ve been in the Reflex SuperShell 5.0 for about a year, so about 100 sets on it. Nothing close to this had happened. I had it release on a fall perhaps two times before. After the crash I checked everything, and tightened up the release settings after some land testing (Horton style). It didn’t pre-release again. But, I just don’t trust it now. I think about it every time I hit the wakes and wonder if it is going to try to kill me again. I think I am going to go back to something else that is attached to the ski. My rear boot Wiley low wrap did a great job and let my rear leg fly out no problem. Not sure what to try next. I loved the control of the hard shell for sure, but it was a scary crash
  3. That’s looking way better. More of that! Those times you barely feel the wake, that is success!!
  4. Prayers and condolences to the Brown family and all of Matt’s friends.
  5. How does the team at Radar make me want a new ski every year?
  6. Why wouldn’t you try something more like a trim tab?
  7. If I were to suggest a few things I'd start with that you should not do that "pull out to the side and stay there" thing. I don't think that does much for learning to slalom ski. You need to work on skiing back and forth across the wakes. Second - when you cross the wakes you need to do as Chris Rossi suggests (and you should listen to the Spray Makers podcast) - arms straight, arms straight, have fun. So pull out hard, pause, turn and zip across the wakes, arms straight. Coast out, turn, and zip across the wakes (arms straight). Get a rhythm going side to side. Keep working at it!
  8. As someone who has been where you are a 71” ski is what you need. Radar Senate is another great choice. I’d buy whatever build you can afford, but you really would probably not need a Probuild.
  9. And for those who don’t like the price tag - the fins are beautiful and made of aircraft-grade high strength aluminum alloy. And, $300 is a lot less than a new ski? Just sayin’. ?
  10. I should have put down where I am at as well. Big guy, 230lb skier on a 71” Radar Senate. 53 yrs old. Working on my 32 MPH pass, most sets with the WF Pro was a 30 or 32. I have a younger friend (low-30s age) I ski with who is of similar size and same ski, and he moved to the previous WF last year and has not taken it off. He skis through 32 MPH 15 off pretty consistently. He says similar things: finishes turns quicker with better angle, especially on his off side. I am LFF and he is RFF.
  11. @igkya Yes, was on the stock Radar fin before, essentially on the stock settings. I have not tried the non-Pro version.
  12. Have not heard much about this new fin lately but I put it on my ski this weekend and I am absolutely thrilled with it. It is like I have purchased a new ski. I love the finish of the turn and the angle I get - that I can hold (!!!) especially on my offside. I used the suggested settings with a set of calipers from Jay's web site. I equaled my best pass from last year on my third set with the fin over the weekend. I can't wait to see what this summer holds for me with this fin!!! Thanks to @SkiJay for a GREAT product!
  13. That is weird. I don’t know what to think.
  14. @tjs1295 Go to finwhispering.com and download the free wing angle gauges that you can print out from your computer. A little time with some scissors and enjoy measuring your wing angle.
  15. To be clear, it is the boot of a friend I ski with often. I’ve told him what has been said here and he’s going to work on it before deciding what to do. I’d probably return it if it were me, but it is his decision. I’ll let you all know what happens.
  16. Now we all have to post here endlessly to get the page to wrap again...
  17. Perfect. That is exactly what I needed to see and it turns out what I thought made sense. Thank you so much, @Cam
  18. This is the rear boot of a dual Reflex setup. See that plastic tab that keeps the boot locked forward? Is that normal? It looks like it is just bent-over plastic.
  19. The calculations at the start of this thread by @Horton and @jayski seem to make sense. If a boat loses 10K in value over 200 hours that equals 50 bucks an hour. To move this into the reimbursement realm, I think you have to take into account the cost of maintenance as well. $10 a set seems high until you really start to do the math. Older boats and the current market does mess with the calculations and really is a different topic. If we are working out what is adequate compensation for boat use, we cannot count on a wild market. That issue has to be set aside.
