A similar course is required in California for everyone that's employed. Managers/Supervisors are mandated reporters of sexual abuse (as of 2021) and all employees must complete a sexual harassment course every 2 years. (As of 2020, for any business that has 5 or more employees!) We have spent a small fortune on these "required" courses to stay compliant and we employ 20 year olds! Managers/supervisors have the brunt of it with multiple courses, covering all facets. It's just the way our litigious country is going, i'm not surprised its in sports now, then people can't claim they "didn't know" the rules. Its a crazy world and I hope we can all learn from it, Safesport is a quick and painless course though! (unlike some of the California employee ones!) Just bite the bullet....its never too late to learn something new despite how crazy it may seem!

In California starting in 2021(AB 1963) any manager/supervisor has to take a similar course if they have employees under 18. It's in every industry and sport, why not waterskiing!?

Couldn’t agree more.Tons of tournaments here & some abroad. Many Juniors from all over the world were in Florida working their butts off. The ranking list for Juniors is accurate & chock-full of current scores, a record tournament available most weekends. The Juniors most affected by Covid were already invited, as they are defending Champions. In addition, US Nationals WAS held in 2020, yet Champions don’t get an invite like in every prior year. Yet US Masters Wakeboard are taking their 2020 National Champions to same US Masters. Also Moomba 2020 was very well attended, Waterski Champions from Moomba don’t get a Masters Invite like in the past, Yet Wakeboard Champions from Moomba 2020 do. Nautique is basically saying the 2020 Waterski season counts for nothing, zero, nada. For Wakeboard they totally acknowledge the scores. So skiers can spend their money and a whole month in Florida this Spring (again!) and do it all over (again!) to re-qualify. IMO the same criteria as in the past should apply and hold an LCQ, To deviate from the ranking list, especially for Juniors, is just crazy $$$.

Based on the ranking list, Florian killed it and should be invited and not have to stress about spending 1 month+ in Florida trying to re-qualify. @Luzz I can't speak for the Pros but Juniors were actively competing, whether in the US or in their home country (albeit limited competitions for some) Defending champs are already invited so their spot is secure, it just makes 0 sense to repeat the Fall season for Juniors, many who moved to Florida to ski Fall 2020. It's expensive, we're STILL in a pandemic and if the reasoning is for better attendance the extra time & money is a huge burden for families to attend 3 events over a months time. (Juniors still need their parents for hotels, rental cars etc) It's also a slap in the face to not invite US National Champions as they have done EVERY year in the past. Nationals was awesome and Tri-Lakes worked their asses off to pull it off and Nautique basically acting as if it didn't happen for Waterskiing. This sport at the Junior level is like throwing dollars out the window on the highway, the moving target keeps changing....

Even bigger BS...the US Masters is not using the ranking list for Juniors, alllll the Juniors were in Florida all season working their butts off to qualify and the ones that weren't were already qualified as defending champions. Bigger BS part 2....US 2020 National Champions as a qualification for Junior Masters as they have done EVERY YEAR in the past. (Yet no one outside of Australia can even attend the event, the waivers haven’t been approved. That’s in addition to the 2 week quarantine) However, 2020 Moomba Champions (another well attended event!) will not be invited to the Masters for waterskiing. (Only wakeboarding) I could go on and on...Nautique is basically saying 2020 counts for nothing...spend your money in Florida this Spring (again!) and do it all over (again!) to re-qualify....

I asked this same question when our sweet young lady was looking at schools and getting ready to graduate from our Adventist K-12 school with 25 kids in her class. We toured so many including Point Loma (hoping to start a ski team) University of San Diego (Catholic School w/ski team) and Florida Southern (more “tame” group we heard ) So many awesome choices and after incredible scholarship offers to some very nice small ski schools lo and behold she chose ARIZONA STATE! Wtf!?! Had she lost her mind!? We were scratching our heads! Turns out, it’s incredible! It was the best decision, year-round recreation & outdoors 24-7 with an incredible group of kids. They’ve worked hard to be the #1 non-scholarship D1 school. Also not as much time to get in trouble when your waterskiing, jet-skiing, hiking, exploring and trying to study :) Maybe a little wilder than what we would have picked for her but “train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” I would visit them all and she will make the right choice! Ready to do it again next year with our son, lots to see! Good luck, it’s a fun process!

Teenage tumble...I would say the iPhone is a huge part of the issue. Apps, gaming, social media fills that void of camaraderie and competitiveness of sports. It's a false reality but kids take refuge in it and its easy. 24-7 its right there :(

California had tons of record and Class C tournaments, an almost normal season despite Covid. A number of them were rescheduled but certainly plenty of options to choose from. @ALPJr for AWSA the scores at same site count, for IWWF your highest score from each site counts.

Even more incredible it was a record previously held by his Dad, Jaret, until Adam Sedlmajer broke it. Back in the family now! Overall is incredibly difficult, none of the three is easy and tricks especially takes an insane amount of time on the water. Congrats Dorien, couldn’t have happened to a nicer kid!

The Wailua River in Kauai is pretty amazing. It’s like going through a rain forest and then you stop at the Ocean! Put on your bucket list!
