  1. And I forgot to mention @Mateo_Vargas retained his crown as Corn Hole champ for the 2nd year.
  2. While I am not the producer (Ryan Selsor is) I just wanted to post this great video of the Berkeley Delta Fall Open, held annually at the end of the season at the world renowned Berkeley water ski club site on the delta. The aerial footage is fabulous and transcends what we see from the boat when we go there. This tournament is put on and produced by the Selsor clan many of whom are not on BOS. I forget how many successive years but it's a lot. The site is boat access, so setting it up includes a ferry boat service from a nearby marina and all. I skied there this season, we had guests from several countries and for all of you ballers out there, this is Sacramento Delta skiing. Thanks to the Berkeley Water Ski Club for a great event. Some great performances here in... from Russ Selsor chair of tournament: Ryan just completed a video of the Delta Fall Open. The link below also includes 60 photos. I think Ryan did a good job in capturing the essence of the weekend. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1i5XXPipG0l2Knr8wHS8GAWSsqbjxVMiE?usp=share_link
  3. @BKistler Tim O'Brien of Hot Rize that's great been a fan for decades his song 'Walk the way the wind blows' was a hit for others as well. Someone take him skiing again.
  4. I would have been skiing a little less in the reply and was going to go Monday but came down with Influenza A (even after getting the flu shot) and now we have some cold and rain for the next bit so I hope to get back out before thanks giving. I keep a (mostly accurate ) log and have skied 98 sets this year (including tournament sets) so I have to break 100 by gosh. Last tournament was the Berkeley Delta Fall Open Oct 15-16.
  5. Sooo I will try to keep this shorter as I could go on and on, skied the old Leverage bindings (with the lace up the back) for way more than a decade -- then 4 (or 5) seasons ago I went to (on front) Reflex white cuff with 840 binding, kept the leverage rear. The upper cuff overlay started to tear but it seemed I liked that better (BTW did not cinch up the back laces on the rear for years) Then it was fading fast and an illustrious SCCWSC member (another Kevin) gave me a complete Leverage binding assemble (L-XL rear) without the plate- and he used another rear rubber and mentioned that Leverage did not do the trick for him.Having had the chance to ski more sets than ever this year, here in the fall I took the one with the ripped overlays apart and cut it down (seeing some of the newer back booties my hypothesis was why not?). I found there are some stiff plastic shells around the ankle which I removed. I attach photos of the new shortie v the original. So I hope the photos attach. My hypothesis is more freedom of movement and it would take me months to get back to an RTP ( i tried it) , so give this a go. I skied it today (haven't skied in 2 weeks to be clear) but I like the way the ski comes around both sides better. My design mistake is I did not get way to grab the rear and pull it up and I have to squish my foot in. All that said I am planning to ski on it further.Any baller comments or experience on these experiments appreciated,,,,From Santa Cruz
  6. Stealth Kevlar, by far the best ever for me. Why? I do not have to think about it as a factor. Everything works. Velcro, fit just go ski.
  7. Ok so live in CA and had a 'camp' where I learned to ski in upstate NY I kept a Connelly F1 there years on and moved to other skis here in CA but could go back to NY and ski the F1 and be real close or equal to my new ski. In other words, you have a great baseline ski. I like all the fanfare on Radar skis, but here in Norcal the dock is primarily D3 and I highly recommend their great demo program. Since on the F1 try the new Neo, it's designed to ride deeper (like the F1) and you might adapt quickly.
  8. Yes the closest is Berkeley Aquatic Park. IN addition to Wednesday night ski league which starts 4 on Wed https://www.berkeleywaterskiclub.com/wed-night-ski-league Matt's contact info in the link above, they also are pulling rides on Saturday starting there at 10AM but I am not sure if it's every Saturday.
  9. Way back there used to be the option for one handle throw at the start of your set does anyone recall that?
  10. What did Jack run? Actually what did you run? I will be in M8 sooner rather than later.
  11. you will love Gates which came out this past week on Monday. I love Alignment, Path of the Handle, Edge Change, Apex and well all of them. I listen to them on my way to ski. I am With you on the reward, it is not easy to do in a talk format and they have it going on. The Path of the Handle one had more than one Aha moment for me.
  12. @swbca Yes the Aquatic Park is still in operation and will start Wednesday Night Ski League fun tournaments including dinner and refreshments apres ski this coming Wednesday.
  13. Greetings Ballers, This is a video shot by drone footage recorded and produced by Ryan Selsor. The Delta Fall Open is held at the Berkeley Water Ski Club Delta site annually at the end of the season. BWSC is one of the oldest clubs in the Western region, founded in 1958. Seeing the Delta from the air is just awesome, and a a shout goes out to Ryan for producing it. Here it is: Here is a link to the finished DFO video. Same as before, but with some small refinements and adding names to each skier. https://drive.google.com/file/d/123Tnb-DjfRLolERGmtv2CL0JauuvSBNs/view?usp=sharing
  14. I am left handed and left foot forward. I bat right handed probably because that is how I was taught. I play tennis left handed. Play guitar right handed too.
  15. I use a 1.092 13" bent and switch to a 1.00" also 13" bent sometimes for variation. I agree larger diameter seems to help with elbow pain issues. I am using glove liners now as i am just getting going -mid season I do not use them anymore.
  16. Left my home in Santa Cruz at 7:15 to join up with huge alumni friends from my Santa Clara Water Ski Club and BWSC (Russ) we hooked up the boat went to pick up older alumni Jerry (former national champ) at the donut shop near his home. Loaded with donut holes filling and after $100 in boat (let's go Brandon) gas we got on the delta at Holland Marina That aside , it was an usually great spring day the best ski site on the delta. Jerry, first ride this year on a course, set the pace and skied an amazing set for his first ride in the course this year, last pass had a huge dismount and we wish rib shot will recover so he can join us next week.
  17. So I jumping in here at page 40 of this thread, my membership became inactive as I had not taken the training. So I took it, it's closer to two hours of your life you will not get back. And it was (somewhat) useful and I do want to participate in tournaments in 2022. So I am not commenting on all the above pages. I do know several people in my and adjacent clubs who are opting out, lifelong AWSA contributors.
  18. Well we had an interrupt June 18 when the Pond was shut down and it remains so. I keep a basic log and still managed to get in 107 sets this season, which is more than prior seasons. Even though in Men7 I am still learning and improving. I got into 32 off 3 tournament days which was rewarding. There is still some time left so I may get in a few more. And a shout out to Paul Crawford for hosting the Old Guys Club at Valensin ski ranch esp on Taco Wednesdays.
  19. So I had the chance to ski the newest Omega Max Labor Day at a demo day with Chris Parrish at the Valensin Ski Ranch here in NorCal, which is a fabulous site that has a 2019 Mastercraft. CP was nursing a shoulder injury from the Hilltop tournament on his last 39.5 off, and was not skiing so he let me use his ski. I went out with CP' fin settings which worked for me. I am Men 7 ran 28's on it easily which is a fine day in my book. I think it would be a good choice for 32mph skiers (like me) with the width. It is stiff I will say that. While the 67s are tooled I think the 68s will be in production soon.
  20. First I think it's great Regionals will be at Bell Acqua. I think the overhead on making 3 days work out is significant.
  21. John Crivello will be there Wednesday, while he is @wski831 on BOS he rarely checks in, I just spoke with him. He does know RVs. I sent you a message with contact info.
  22. I am aligned with @BlueSki I used Kevlar liners for years. I went from 41Tail Gloves to Stealth gloves with no liner and have minor callous issues. I use the below gloves. Ryan Dodd has a new thinner model which I have not used. I love them the straps stay on better than the 41 Tails I had. https://www.perfski.com/brands/stealth-gloves/stealth-gloves-by-ryan-dodd.html
  23. @The_MS well it varies a lot, I live in Santa Cruz area which is coastal and about 20 miles from the Pond. The rain season is recorded Jul 1 to Jun 30, here are the rain totals for the last 10 years: Season Rain, 2020-2021 22.31 in Season Rain, 2019-2020 30.39 in Season Rain, 2018-2019 63.00 in Season Rain, 2017-2018 30.90 in Season Rain, 2016-2017 95.17 in Season Rain, 2015-2016 47.06 in Season Rain, 2014-2015 33.82 in Season Rain, 2013-2014 20.78 in Season Rain, 2012-2013 35.54 in Season Rain, 2011-2012 36.27 in Season Rain, 2010-2011 62.55 in Note 5 years ago we had rain forest amounts of rain. This year will end at 22.3 which is really low. CA has not built any new dams or reservoir capacity in like 50 years. The Anderson Dam retrofit project is really important as that reservoir was being kept at low level as the dam had some of the same problems as the Oroville Dam. When completed (in 10 years ! ) Anderson will operate with full capacity it is the largest reservoir in the San Jose area.
