  1. This season in my log I skied 82 days (and I do miss entries) which is the most I have ever skied, quite a few were 2 sets so that is a great season for me. I need to focus on making more passes with out scrambling, and in particular I need to work on finishing offside turns and remaining over the ski (stacked) . I can get started soon as I am in NorCal . All the best in 2021
  2. Nice guitar there @otf . I am thinking of building out a Telecaster but have not started yet.
  3. Thank you for this thread, I have had some minor removals but have not been to the dermatologist in 3 years so I will be making that appointment. All the best in 2021
  4. @jhughes Yes T Factor was Terry's design. Intersected him when he was working on it as we skied at Sunset Ranch (now Valensin Ski ranch). There was a lot of time and interations that went into it's development.
  5. Skied the Pond this morning, water 55 air 68 when we left at 11:30.
  6. So I am 66+ with multiple injuries (snow and water) and to me, do not give up at all. I will run the course on jump skis if I can't get up on one some day. AND pay attention to your rehab therapies whatever they are-- i just went through a period of figuring that out with my Dr and less than 30 minutes a day has helped immensely. I had a goal this year to ski without using Ibuprofen at all (which i have used for decades I think) and I could do so most of this year. Had some back pain (duh) and now my new PT exercises have me back to my goal I think but it's getting cold.
  7. Did you break the talus in the ankle? Over 10 years ago I was trying a Connelly Draft on the front binding, and hit 2 ball (offside) at 28 off rear came out front did not. Fractured the talus. Turns out there a lot of skiers who have done that. For me good orthopedic surgeon i have two screws in there now. It took a while, I had to ride one of those scooter things around the office, earned me nickname scooter. BTW that L foot has 5 broken metatarsals too, also a water ski incident in the 1980s which well, I will go there (true story) could not stand on L foot, tournament at Great Lakes I fell and the ski came off weird ( i had really tight rubber bindings) hopped out of water Dr. Jack Horton came right up you could see the bones sticking up, without much formality he mashed them into position taped my foot and told me to put in the cooler. He got them aligned well enough so when I got to Xrays back in Long Beach where I lived then they said good and casted it. But that's not the main point. I still ski and the talus injury is almost negligible, I am 66 yo so i think your prognosis (others attest to the achilles part) is good. The talus injury used to be known as 'Aviator's fracture' as it happened in plane crashes.
  8. Got in two sets at the Pond today, water temp still 60.
  9. I was born in Farmington Main (1954). My parents ran a hunting and fishing lodge there. But now, well, it's color on the community.
  10. @ESPNSkier it's a world where USAWS has redirected the sport to the ultra high end distillation of maybe 3 boat manfacturers and 6 ski companies. I get that about 40 athletes maybe 60 worldwide will play at all in a broadcast that TWBC will cover (I THINK TWBC IS THE BEST PART OF OUR SPORT'S MEDIA IN YEARS- COVERAGE, FORMAT VIDEO LOVE IT) Without pull to youth in wider areas (like public water which USAWS has abdicated defending) I really don't want to see 4th gen from private ski lakes or families being the premier athletes in the sport. Our club has done learn to ski days for literally decades -- support and media from USAWS ZERO .
  11. it was 66 deg at the Santa Clara County Water ski Club Pond yesterday
  12. You know what I object to? It's like all 6 or nothing. You can search the USAWS database to answer your question. Applaud Ron and Art please.
  13. Art on his 91st Birthday skiing at the Pond. Off the dock at 2.

  15. @lpskier Newcomb was great... and there was a hot tub which in the Adirondacks was more than welcome
  16. John @lpskier yah but that was in driving distance in summer and tournament fees were $30. And the results were good . Timing boats all of it. My children (3) were all put off by the onerous and time consuming rules of practice sites and tournaments that did not engage them.
  17. The sport has become increasingly elevated to the small minority who go to lots of tournaments. This impacts ALL who would like to be in the game but can't go to numerous tournaments (most of which now are on private lakes as USAWS support for skiers on public lakes in almost non existent- BTW that is how I am am still skiing). This impacts youth and new skiers a great deal, who would like (if they can afford it) to go to tournament and get on the rankings list and see how they are doing. So this originated with old AWSA. There are PENALTIES if you ski less than 3 "sanctioned" tournaments. This has been in place forever. In 2020 my club could run 1 tournament. There are a LOT of locations (away from USAWS headquarters) where normal people will ski their locale's tournament and that's it. They do not have a motor home to travel to 2 or 3 tourneys in say AZ or the south. So HOW does it make sense that in 2020 with COVID if you ski ONE tournament in the past 12 months you get deducted 10% of your score? How did that ever make sense? Or IF you can make it to 2 , they still deduct 5%which with a spouse and a child would be thousands in expense, now you are legit to the rankings list? In any year- but this year? Who runs this stuff at USAWS? It is so high end biased it makes no sense at all. It's like a golf club that guarantees their members get high rankings. So yes I have a beef- Our club's tourney was a great event- I skied a season PB and my score was reduced the equivalent of a pass and a half. Because that's the only score I have for 12 months. And there were like 4 tournaments in my area I could have even skied- after taking weeks off and leaving a fire zone where we were evacuated with three offspring dealing with COVID rules. .. that is not life possible . I do not even agree with a buoy reduction for tournaments not skied. You ski a sanction that's your score. Have been following the other thread on how rankings work, love the drive there. USAWS is contributing to the decline of the sport in my view with this antiquated and not current world situation. I am prepared for gnar here.
  18. How often are the USAWS rankings updated?
  19. Well it's was 84 deg today, water temp at the Pond is 60 so it's still time to be trying things when *we hope) we are in ski shape. After 18 yrs on Goode, a 67" D3 Ion demo was at the dock early summer. So I have demo'd a lot of skis over time, for me it worked so well on my offside I just got that ski. I have not skied Syndicate or Radar, or others, but am more than pleased with the Ion.
  20. This is great, the anticipation is upon me. Really good to see
  21. That is more than Brrr. Air temp here has been in the 90s. Will get back with water temp tomorrow after ski time.
