  1. All the above advise is spot on. One thing I’ll add is even if the trailer tires look good, consider replacing before the tow home. SOOOO much easier and cheaper than replacing on the side of the road and you don’t have to worry about trashing a fender or your boat with a blowout. Had my dad haul a ‘95 PS 205 from Louisiana to MN. Blew out both tires on the trip even though they looked perfect.
  2. I have a 11.5 foot and use the regular size. I don’t think I could kick into it but putting on at the platform is super easy.
  3. Than’s post about gloves and the comments about various handle diameter lead me to wonder... Is there a way any of you use to experiment with different diameters without actually buying a bunch of different handles? Top of mind was tape like hockey players use on thier sticks. Sorry if this a newb question, I did a search and got some great info on handle diameter, bend, profile but nothing specific about how to play around with diameter ‘easily/ cheaply’ Thanks!!!
  4. I went from double d3 t factors to a HRT with the BOA laces and am very happy! I didn’t like the rear t factor as it would rub my ankle due to the foward flex of my ankle/ leg. No issues with the HRT. I also think the the move to the HRT has reduced my bad habit of stomping down with my back leg. Noticed by not having a soar quad muscle in my back leg. This also could be due to me being aware of this habit and trying to do it less :) While I haven’t noticed it I do totally follow the issue of heal lifting and maybe not resetting properly. If you lift your rear heal this might be an issue as the rear of the HRT is pretty straight up and down so if you go over the top of the back I don’t think your foot will just drop back in easily.
  5. Moto track and water skiing... I'd be in heaven! My body would probably hate me for a while until it adjusted :)
  6. Sage advice! Now I just need my brian to kick in before my facial expression say something different as my words don’t always match.
  7. You also use baby powder (talc) to thicken up your resin to use it to fill that in. Gel coat is the ‘easy’ part once you build up. My understanding is that you can’t gel over Marine Tex so take that into account if want to gel over the repair.
  8. As a newb who grew up skiing behind an outboard I can tell you that the ‘95 205 Prostar wake is soft and almost unnoticeable. The 205 didn’t change hull until ‘96, one year behind the 190. I can’t comment on differences between ‘95 and ‘96 but can say the ‘95 wake is amazing! I never squared up for hitting like I was used to doing. Skiing both is the only way to confirm what you like or don’t like.
  9. The reusable warmers will work when wet. They have a solid, flex plastic shell. They are the ones that looks like liquid before activating and then looks like they are full of salt after activating. I’d post a link but it would be too long and I don’t want to get in trouble and i’m too lazy to figure how to post a short link :)
  10. I’ll be going to the MN show this weekend but I know what to expect. It’s winter and it’s something to do. Looking at boats is fun even if it’s not a proper ski boat.
  11. Here I thought I was going to see a smashed turtle... those pics are why I couldn’t be a person mechanic!
  12. If you are looking to shoot stationary but elevated video then I would think any GPS enabled drone would work. Just find a DJI one on Craigslist for ~$400. Point it at your ball of choice and then run the pass. Just have it high enough to avoid hitting it with the spray! Launch from shore and if battery runs low it will fly itself back to shore.
  13. While I haven’t sold as much ski gear i’ve sold LOTS of other items via forum and boards. I always get payment up front prior to shipping. I send as many pics as needed for the seller to be comfortable. Pretty quick you can tell if you are dealing with an enthusiast or a tire kicker. As a buyer i’ve only been burned once and CC company took care of me (repaid me) and went after seller for fraud. There are criminals out there but most people are good )
  14. Here's a thread but looks like you go to service reset and then hit up, down, up, down or vice versa. This is what did it on my VDIG screen. This is the sequence on the mmcd guages and VDIG so likely still the same for yours. http://www.mastercraft.com/teamtalk/showthread.php?t=81726&highlight=Service+reset See post #3
  15. It's time based, no issues are present. I don't remember process to reset but a search on the Mastercraft forum will tell you. This same thing came up on my '08 but it has VDIG so reset process is different.
  16. 95 and older Prostar 205 wake is amazing!!!
  17. Feel like you owe us a comparison of all the different boats you had on your lift this summer :) Not many people cycle through that many boats in one season. Would be great to hear what you liked or didn't like about each for others that might be interested!
  18. I had a '95 Prostar 205 and it worked out well for my family of 4 however was a little tight with more adults in it, however doable. The lake we boat on is lake similar to the lake you boat on. It's the busiest lake in all of MN, on the weekend there are large 50+ people dinner cruise boats and personal ~40' pleasure cruisers which throw some big wakes... Often times the main lake is a like a washing machine with rollers crashing into other. The PS 205 was manageable in these waters however you had to keep it off plane and just push the bow. Doing this allowed you to push through the waves vs bounce on them. You also had to be ready to 'pop' the throttle in no wake areas if a big boat sent a wave your way otherwise you'd get some water over the bow. Can't say it was alway enjoyable to drive through this but once you got to quieter parts of the lake it was nice! All in all I'd say a DD ski boat will be best for your water sports needs however it will 100% be a compromise on ride quality. For your price you can find a decent PS 205 but it will be closer to $10k and ~$12k is more realistic. I looked for mine for over a year and when I sold it I sold it for what I paid for it despite more hours due to the demand for the model. Know that in '96 the hull on the PS 205 changed to be slightly bigger but this changed the wake, thus the purest prefer the '95 or earlier PS 205. Also '94 was when EFI was introduced to the PS 190/ 205, something else to keep in mind as you look.
  19. Got ya! While I don't have a go pro my understanding is that the new ones can link to your phone so you can use your phone like a viewfinder as well as playback video and adjust. Not sure if this link from phone to GoPro would work from boat to skier. I also could be remembering this ALL wrong! Of all the folks I've encountered with them (mostly during MX riding). They aim them from their helmet, confirm the resolution they are in before starting and then just hit the button to start recording. The fish eye lens really allows a wide margin of error on what's in the field of vision. The 'cool' stuff seems to be added in during editing. Likely not much more helpful but trying to help :)
  20. I tried to put a helpful comment/ thought in after my very not helpful one ;)
  21. 1st not helpful comment - you're supposed to add some 'cool' background music! Hopefully your new Prostar has some kick a$$ tower speakers, then you won't have to add the music post production  In a more helpful thought - I do like how it shows very clearly when you are on edge, or not, and could allow you to tweak your approach if you wanted to be more consistent in a specific spot. Might be interesting to get a chest mount or head mouth to similarly show where your body is pointed coming into and out of the ball.
  22. I had a '95 PS 205 and the wake on it was amazing, hardly noticeable! As others have mentioned the 205 lagged the 190 by a year for hull changes. So a '95 205 will have the same hull as the '94 190. 205 can be a bit pricey though, I've rarely seen a 94+ 205 that didn't need major work (like interior) for less than $12k - I'm in MN but have been watching national listings for over a year. 190's seem to fall in your budget as the closed bow limits them from being a choice for traditional boaters vs slalom purest.
  23. Mastercraft x14 ticks most of your boxes but has the motor in the center however it does have wrap around seats. I find the DD motor nice to spread out the cabin and not loose the space next to the v drive in the back... however you don't get a sun pad. Surfing is tough but it's doable with ballast. However still won't be great. Supposedly the new XT21 has a decent ski wake and does all the other things you've mentioned including surfing. There is a video on mastercraft's site of someone skiing it. We have an x14 and while it likely won't meet a skiing purest wake needs it's pretty damn good and the space/ usability is excellent. I picked up a used one last year and vs our '95 PS205 it is a much better all around boat however at the expense of a slight loss of ski wake.
  24. Thanks guys! Appreciate the input based on what you can tell. I'll see about some video at some point. Wife is typically my driver and 9 yr daughter isn't much for action videos :) On vacation and had someone that wanted some action shots. Might have a get s ski doc or the like to get some video.
  25. Been free skiing for years with no input from anyone that knows anything so likely have some bad habits! I know from reading on here that arms in nose high isn't correct (but you do get a nice shot of the underside of the ski ;)) Not a course skiing but would still like to be more correct so I can get that perfect 'carve' What advice do you all have? Ski is '15 radar lithium vapor setup to stock number Running ~32-34mph and '15 off I have the same 'issue' on both sides. Thanks!
