  1. May sound simple but I have to ‘remind’ myself to pull my back foot to my butt/ not push at all with back leg until ski is out of the water. Doing this has made my deep water starts much easier. I had a tendency to push evenly with both feet too soon which would cause my body to want to pivot over the front.
  2. Also missed this... totally would have signed up. This is pretty cool!
  3. @Horton for this to work properly I think you'd need to put it on your vest. Do you think the water would still mess up the GPS if it was mounted ~5'+ above the water? I don't think you'd be able to put this on your ski as they say you need to mount on your body to help dampen some of the 'noise' that would come through via the ski. I'm happy to mail this to you if you want to give it a shot between ~Oct to March. Will just need to figure out how to keep it dry :)
  4. Getting into data logging for MX and have recently picked up a LitPro data logger which the majority of the pro teams use to monitor lines, speed and lap times. This thing does 20 samples a second and picks up speed, accel, deccel, G Force. Seems like this could be pretty interesting to see how different settings translate to different forces on the body. You could also see where/ when the ski is accelerating after the ball as well as your coast into the ball. You can take overhead shots of the course and overlay your run onto this so you can see how your lines compare to the course. As well as compare runs to different runs to see how your data from each run compares to the next. The major 'snag' with this device is it isn't waterproof... but it's about the size of a deck of cards so I'd think you could put it into a waterproof phone holder and attach to your jacket somehow. Litpro website Here's a screen shot from a recent ride. The colored line is speed and the small bars are the decel rate. Curious what you all think! Seems like could answer some questions I've heard asked before about how fast are folks really going across the wake as well as cornering speeds as line lengths shorten. Given I live in MN I might be willing work out a loan program if someone with some skills wants to try this out during my off season. Would just need some mutual agreement about protecting it from damage :)
  5. @MDB1056 this is an older rear T factor.
  6. Have nothing to offer on skiing outside of what’s been said. More skiing = more comfort and you’ll be attacking that wake in no time! What are you using for to capture videos? Looks pretty good!
  7. @OldboyII top laces are completely loose, so much so I might as well take them out. If laces are too tight, on the top I could issues with releasing as there is no give on the side. The tongue and heal are rubber so some give but nothing like a double high wrap, all rubber binding like stokers or Wiley’s. Bottom laces aren’t that tight but tight enough to hold the clip in place. I have a 11.5 size foot and am running the large. I have to use slime to get foot in. The rubber is tight but not so tight foot cramps. With significant use the inner rubber can start to peel/ chip off the tongue and back of the binding which would probably be costly to replace. While it’s doesn’t look new it doesn’t affect performance. See pics.
  8. I was on double stokers for a number of years. Tried Wiley’s wraps as they looked like the stokers but didn’t like the closed toe, too tight. I’m now on a T factor in the front and a HRT in the back. Love the T factor for all the reasons others mentioned. Similar to the stokers but better lateral control. Knock on wood they have held tight when needed and let go when needed. HRT in the back took some adjustment but it helped me kick the bad habit of stomping down with my back leg in the turns thus using my front leg as you are supposed to do. Get some T factors - should be an easy transition!!
  9. As others have said make sure your tires are good as are bearings. If both are good tow as far as far as you’d like! Trailers were made to be towed :)
  10. MN titles the trailer but not the boat. You'll need a bill of sale to get title if state you are buying from doesn't title the trailer. Bill of sale will also apply for the boat. Advice on trailer trailers is very sound! I bought a boat in LA, hauled it back to MN and ~150 miles form home 1st tire blew. Another 50 miles 2nd tire blew. Tires looked great and had seller have bearings repacked before trailering... should have had tires done as well. I've bought lots of motorcycles out of state (and had them shipped) and a boat from LA. As others have said I've found that talking to the seller you can learn a lot. Pictures are super helpful as are trying to track down others that you might know in the area that can take a look for you. Certain states offer boat surveyors who can do a technical assessment of a boat for you. Similarly you can ask the seller to take the boat into the local dealer to have them do a compression check/ leak down check as well as anything else you'd like - all at your own expense. Having said all of this only you know you and your degree of anal-ness. If you buy not seeing it in person and see something post delivery how are you going to feel? If you will have a stomach dropping feeling, then you better look at in person for yourself. If you are a roll with a type of guy knowing that so long as it's mechanically sound and if the seller missed showing/ telling you about a minor bump or bruise - you'll be good! Looks like you have some pretty solid feedback from others that have seen and skied behind this boat, in your other thread. So seems like it's a matter of figuring out how to get it paid for and shipping it. Wire transferring the funds is going to be the best way to make the payment if you aren't doing it in person for the amount it's selling for. You can sequence the wire transfer to tie in with the shipping picking it up. Talk with the seller, get on the same page, you want the seller to be comfortable with the payment as well. I like to sell something like I'm the buyer and be as up front as I can but people see/ react to different things that may or may not be a big deal to others.
  11. $200 with bindings for a Radar butterknife.... seems like a pretty good deal! Binding sizes are pretty small so likely would only work for you.
  12. Not a specific ski recommendation but if you haven’t yet check out ski it again. Great place to find lightly used gear like skis and bindings. Doing the lightly used route can allow you to get something at a pretty deep discount and then resell for little loss if you don’t like it. Radar has a pretty good line of skis for various ranges and there seem to be plenty on ski it again. Check out Radar’s page for their recommendations on speed, weight, etc. Others will chime in with some specific skis to check out. I remember going from using the slalom side of combo ski set to a ‘proper’ slalom ski and asking myself why I waited so long to make the switch?!?!
  13. That seems like a steal of a price!!!! No way could you build something like that for the price. Pending membership and activities a person could maybe make a small profit... who wants to start a business with me?!?!
  14. There is a ‘94 PS 205 on the mastercraft forum for $10k right now. Has 1700 hours but looks to be well taken care of. PS 205 and PS 190 share the same Hull so generally the comments you hear about PS 190 apply to 205. I had a ‘94 PS 205 and the wakes were small and soft - like not noticeable! I don’t shortline so the chine spray was never an issue for me.
  15. +3 for leadwake $60 shipped for 50lb is a pretty good deal for a bulletproof option. I’m cheap and love all the other approaches but i’m also lazy and having a sealed up bag all ready to go straight out of the box is nice.
  16. Love it! I’m an aggressive free skier typically skiing at 32-34 mph and ~22’ off and use a ‘15 Radar Lithium Vapor as my ski. It serves me very well and riding other ‘crossover’ skis just don’t feel right to me. They just don’t have the same initial turn in and feel like they want to ride flat vs initiate a turn/ require more effort to get the turn started. I know my form isn’t perfect, especially across the wake but I cut hard turns and feel like I got a great workout when I drop! Thanks for the paper and making me feel less like a poser with my ‘course’ ski ripping up the open water :)
  17. CC dispute will get money back ASAP if that is the goal. Might be the best option if it’s been radio silence so far. Bummer to not have heard anything but sometimes it happens.
  18. I had double T factors and went to a HRT last summer. As others mentioned took a few skis to get used to it but love it now. The biggest issue I had with the t factor in the rear is it limited my ability to move my rear leg/ shin forward and when I did I would get chaffing on my shin. HRT has eliminated this problem. HRT has also helped me use my front leg more and less back leg stomps in the corner. All in all a great transition for me that has helped to improve my overall technique. I have the BOA version and like the ease of use but haven’t ever used the bungee version.
  19. Look very similar to radar vector bindings. Which people that have seem to be happy with. I had a concept with double stroker bindings, similar to Wiley’s wraps but with open toes. I liked these and they were easy enough to get on and off in the lake without a platform.
  20. I use this and put it through the drain hose, not dipstick. Works well and makes it super easy. Oil filter - now that is a mess! Sorry for the long link- posting from my phone. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000GU0MMU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_cIDmDb71EYNRT
  21. I have a mastercraft x-14 which is a 22’ OB dd boat. Haven’t skied any of the other boats but it works well for my family. Prostar 214 is same boat just without tower and built in ballast.
  22. Impressive! Do you know the weight difference between the 2 models? Curious if that is part of the reason for the difference.
  23. I have nothing constructive to add other than this is my exact story- free skiing one week a year for 20 years and then buying a boat in my mid to late 30’s. Will be following this as his form looks similar to mine so can use the same pointers :)
  24. Awesome place - best of luck with the sale! FWIW there are some great MX tracks close by as well. I head to this area almost every other weekend to ride MX at Hurricane Hills or Meadow Valley. You can also try your hand at the national track at Milleville.
  25. I wear a 11.5 and have the ‘normal’ sized BOA version HRT. Fits just fine. I do have to put on when on the platform and just pull back on the heal a bit, like any shoe, to help my foot ease in. I know I would not want one any bigger than what I have now.
