  1. Where is nationals going to be in 2022? How far in advance is the location decided upon?
  2. Check out www.WaterSkiAustin.com That's our ski club in Austin, and if you join for $25/year you can get a lot of ski pull opportunities throughout the season and connect with other local skiers in the Austin & San Antonio areas.
  3. Wow. Look at that glass!!!!! What a beautiful picture!
  4. @unksskis Not a bad idea either during this crazy time.
  5. I think it would be hard for people to ski "in order", but we could arrange for everyone in a particular division to all ski on the same day. It wouldn't be exact, but by the end of the day we could have all of the scores for a specific division tallied (or maybe within a few hours?). I don't see any real way to have it live to where we could all know what the competition was doing given the different time zones, and number of skiers in each division in each area, etc.... If you can figure that out, that would be awesome though. I do agree with what someone said earlier in that it should not be called "nationals". I like the idea of "Covid Challenge 2020" as an alternate to nationals. We certainly would be making history with this type of new format.
  6. I had a similar thought, but the biggest issue would be the wide variance in conditions across divisions. It could be blowing 20mph at one site, rainy and cold at another, and perfect glass & 90 degrees at another. With everyone at the same location, people are competing on much more equal ground. I'm not sure what the creative answer is, but I really don't want to fly myself yet.
  7. I'm in W4 and I would love to see USAWS vote for the change to 32mph!
  8. @Luzz, @MarcusBrown What an awesome podcast! I enjoyed every minute of it! I could have listened to more stories for hours. Marcus, it was so cool to get to know you a little bit more and hear about how you got started in the sport. Thank you both for all that you are doing for the water ski world.
  9. Thanks Marcus for all that you do! You're awesome.
  10. Amazing content. I love hearing the history with Jay and learning about how it all began. I really hope we can bring the sport back into the main stream again. We are moving in the right direction as Jay suggests, so I'm excited about what's to come!
  11. Love this interview with Jay Bennett! This will be one to remember in the history books many years from now. What an Icon Jay is. I have talked to Jay many times but this interview helps me to know so much more about him and his beginnings. So inspiring! Thanks Matteo for bringing us this content.
  12. Love this!!! Thank you. I was hoping someone would do this. I just subscribed on Apple!
  13. This is all great information! Thank you to everyone who has replied so far.
  14. We have a Roku and when you click "search" on the left hand side, you can find all kinds of interesting channels. It's some free, streaming channel but just appears to not have been updated in a while.
  15. We have the Roku system with nextflix, Hulu, etc... and recently discovered a "waterski" channel that says "powered by Unreel.me". It's a free TV channel that has a series of short ski videos on it but they all appear to be from a few years ago. I'm curious who is behind that channel and in charge of posting the content? I'd love to see more updated videos and content but I'm not sure how we can make that happen. Any ideas? On another note, I just discovered the "Red Bull TV channel" and they feature some pretty cool water sports content in case anyone else here might be interested in that.
  16. This will be our first time traveling by air to a tournament and bringing all our gear. This will also be our first time to Florida and Okeeheelee Park. I hear that the site is quite spread out and there is really a lot of walking involved to get from one event to another, so we need to plan accordingly. If you've been to the site before, I'd like to hear any tips or recommendations you have for us as newbies. We will be traveling with 2 kids (ages 13 & 7), so if there are things we should plan to check out or do in the area (on or off site), we would like to hear those recommendations as well.
  17. Bring it all!!! And add some stickers to the list if you have them. We want to decorate our ski travel case that we just bought as this will be our first time flying with our equipment.
  18. I've only skied 3 regionals myself now, but I thought you weren't allowed to change the running order for regionals or nationals?? Is this not correct? Someone earlier in this thread mentioned that the entire running order changed with no notice and he missed his turn??? I find that hard to believe (based on my limited experience). I always try to be way, way, way early of any projected time so that I don't miss anything! I know a few people who missed their turn at the SCR regionals because things were moving faster than they expected. So very unfortunate. I think this sport is a little tough, but the rules are the rules (I guess). What I find the most discouraging is watching skiers who are top in their division miss their gates, or not completing their opening pass and then they are done. It's devastating. Especially for boys 1 and girls one who are just getting started in the sport!!! Those young kids don't have the emotional maturity to process that situation and not be devastated. As a parent, it's very hard to watch. I think a slight bit more leniency might make this sport more attractive to a lot of people, especially for the large cost involved to participate.
  19. I haven't seen any video yet. If someone comes across one, please post the link.
  20. I thought nationals was amazing. It was our second year in a row to attend. I was very impressed at how well organized the event was, especially given the amount of skiers who attended! 1. I loved the site. It was beautiful. 2. I loved that they brought in all that power for us to be able to stay in our RV without running a generator 24/7! That made the trip much more affordable, and enjoyable for us to just stay on site and get back in the air condition when we needed it. 3. I thought having the kid activities and swim area was amazing. I have a 6 year old and a husband that do not ski, so I was happy to see some entertainment options for them. My husband really enjoyed the cash bar that they brought on site, and he really enjoyed watching the pros for the America's cup (as did we all!!!). My 6 year old enjoyed all the bouncy houses, slides, the swing set, etc... He also really enjoyed all the snow cones! 4. I loved that Dennis worked out a deal with the local YMCA to get people visiting for nationals a $5/day pass vs. the normal $10/day. The YMCA facilities were amazing (water park for the kids, etc...) & we were able to let the kids swim, and also take showers there vs. using all the water in our RV. 5. I loved how they allowed you to sign up for practice in advance. I thought that was a great way to handle it, and I hope they do that again next year. 6. Having a coffee bar on site was pretty cool. 7. Knowing that my son qualified a year in advance was very helpful as well. It's the main reason we decided to attend this year. We had lots of time to plan ahead. My one suggestion would be to add more healthy food options next year for all the athletes. More salad options, healthy protein smoothies (with real fruits & veggies), raw veggies snacks on the side, or even cooked veggies or fruit on the side (vs. funnel cakes, french fries, etc....) I was impressed and look forward to attending next year.
  21. Ok. Thank you. I will try that and see if it helps. Thank you!
  22. I am having the same problem! It's nice to know I'm not alone. I wondered what the heck changed. In addition to this issue, my video is really shaky on my Iphone 7. It never used to be, so I'm wondering how I can fix it. I hope it gets resolved soon.
  23. Do you mean just hit the reverse camera button as if you were taking a selfie? That somehow will stop the video from shaking?
  24. Jibbo, what do you mean "the front camera"? I am having trouble with my Iphone 7 and was going to start a new post on this subject. My wakeye used to work just fine, but now the video is horribly shaky and I'm not sure what the heck changed. All I can figure is maybe all the Iphone updates are no longer compatible with the Wakeye ap? My friend has a Samsung phone and the video is calm, smooth and crystal clear on her screen! How do I get to the "front camera"?
