  1. I also have an EZ Slalom course I splash in WI. It is pretty clear that it must be removed daily... Permits are required for permanent courses. HOWEVER, I think it’s worth fighting the dollar amount in court. And I’m not sure what your “due process” is in this matter. Might have to lawyer up in this case... If you had a reason to leave the course in (sudden bad storm, or other issue) I think any reasonable person would either drop it or reduce the fine to a more manageable amount. A warning in my opinion would be more than enough. However, common sense and reason has disappeared from our society. JMHO....
  2. Friend of mine just gave me one of these. Pretty cool unit that fits my Brendella just fine. Doubt you will have any issues selling it.
  3. I flew the old GE CJ-610 Lear 25’s also. Those straight pipe GE’s (at the cost of being a flying fuel emergency!!) will easily out climb the 40/45’s. We are certified to FL 510. Haven’t had it above 470 (I’m always @ 45/47) have to be REALLY light to get it to 510. About 5 hours flight time till it gets really quiet.
  4. I like good Scotch...18 yr Macallan is fine.... See my Aug 10th post... Will share! @Horton still owes me a bottle from the submarine ski boat that threw the rods out...was right one that one too. (All in jest of coarse ;) ;) :# )
  5. Yeah it’s a cool site...will have to throw my ski in the back and see if I can get some lessons. Suckage level is still excessively high... Can’t read the numbers whizzing by on the FMS..too fast, can google search it though... Thanks all...
  6. Yup, airport is on Johns Island. Thinking it’s Seth’s as it’s only one ski “lake”. Looks man made but pretty cool. No homes around it just the lake.
  7. Flying into Charleston Executive Airport (SC) last fall and found what looks to be an awesome ski site about 7-10 miles west of the airport. Couldn’t get a better look at it since I was kinda busy getting ready to land.... And ideas? Going back there this fall as well...
  8. That’s a good move pulling the other head...all the work is done and it’s just a few more bolts... Your engine will like that... PLUS if it got hot there might be damage on the other side as well...might save you a bunch of work to change the other gasket when you could be skiing.
  9. Slight CG shift and they would have nailed it!
  10. Go with a permatorque head gasket as well...only need to torque it once... Better make sure the head isn’t warped if it overheated...easy to take a few thousands off to true it up (machine shop).
  11. Having the boat run with no load on it would not recreate the issue as mentioned... Haven’t seen a electric pump on a carb motored ski boat (not saying they didn’t do that). USUALLY a electric pump has an external regulator, but I’m more familiar with race pumps. If the fuel pressure was too high it would pop the needle off the seat and cause flooding, not a lean condition. Too much fuel isn’t the issue. Crank the regulator all the way up and see what happens....not going to hurt anything...3.5 is a little low in my opinion... I might have to come out there and fix your boat! Still fly for free since I retired from an airline...
  12. @So_I_Ski unfortunately no...it will run like a raped ape with all that extra fuel at high power settings with a stuck/sunk float...however when you come off full throttle or close to that and get below 1500rpm(ish) it will run EXCESSIVELY rich and quit at idle...plus, it will probably blow black smoke, you will see fuel dripping into the carb from the vent tube and you will smell the excessive fuel in the exhaust....not to mention the engine will not sound happy. What we think (the Collective) is you’re basically running out of fuel (lean) at higher RPM due to a lack of fuel. Hence, a fuel delivery issue. Could be a fuel pump failing as well but those mechanical pumps are usually pretty bulletproof. The GOOD news is this should be an easy issue to solve with the old school carb and fuel system. I LOVE my carbed 351 and points ignition...a screwdriver and a matchbook cover will get me home!!
  13. A float in a carb that sinks cause the engine to run rich, not lean...when it sinks it holds the needle and seat open flooding the engine...usually fuel will run into the engine thru the bowl vent.
  14. Fuel filter, collapsed fuel line from tank not venting, dirty, plugged or restricted tank pick up filter, restricted fuel line... Easy tank venting check trick is to run with the fuel cap off... Not accelerator pump.
  15. How much $$$ are you willing to invest in a boat (one of the 4 “F’s)? A new boat is 100K +.... There a lot a really good boats out there for less than 25K. I have a total of 6K in my 1989 Brendella. Stargazer Perfect Pass, Digital Speedo, only 951 hours on the boat... I’m a good wrench and do all the work on the boat myself. The 351 carb motor is bulletproof. No EFI issues, no TP sensors to mess up etc etc. It’s a simple, lightweight 240hp boat that gets the job done. The ONLY issue I had last season was 1 time the rear needle stuck on the carb and a wack on the float bowl with the crescent wrench fixed that (knowledge is power!!) and we skied the rest of the season with no issues. It just depends on what YOU want/expect from your boat... The hardcore competition skiers hate PP but for anyone else the extra 94K buys a lot of gas, insurance, burgers, beer and fun... I’m pretty sure Terry Winter could rip off a 39 off pass behind my boat with his wife driving (she’s an awesome driver)... JMHO
  16. Radar Senate Alloy... 625kts eastbound from LA to Wisconsin @ 45,000ft in the baggage compartment of our Lear 40...
  17. The Katana is good up to about 32mph... Pick the boat sped up to 28/30mph or so and as suggested take 15 off the rope (down to 60 ft from the standard 75). You will see a noticeably flatter wake crossing which will make that a bit easier. When you work into the course I would slow down to 26 and start there. Form and technique become very important when running the course...it will come... Most importantly HAVE FUN!!!
