  1. Aussies are the best. And they export the Fosters and keep the best beer to themselves.Once you've had a Crownie....:)
  2. I keep an old pair of ski gloves in the boat every time we have to work on our course. Just coming into contact with them can leave razor blade cuts on your hands.
  3. You need to check fuel pressure with a gauge at full throttle. Premium or Regular fuel should have no effect on fuel pressure.

  5. Along with @vtjc I use a 90lb. Giant Schnoodle to balance the weight. He's our official spotter anyway.
  6. I got pulled by one years ago. It had no problem yanking me up. 275hp if memory serves. My 2002 PCM based 350 Chevy is 315 or 330hp.
  7. Free to good home. OJ 13x13 prop that I've had for a spare for some years. My original OJ is in perfect shape and since I'm on a private lake, there's little concern that I'll ever damage it. Buyer pays shipping.
  8. Tried cable skiing in Australia when I was there for the 2000 Olympics (working). I could never get off the dock. The big speedometer next to you says 36mph and let me tell ya, that cable is whistling over your head. And when you said go, you better be ready because you're literally shot out of a cannon. For me, it was one faceplant after another. I went over the the Wakeboard lake (12mph) and had more fun. :(
  9. @BraceMaker I happen to have and still use my old Dwell Meter. Mostly for vintage and antique motorcycles, but every now and then, I get to throw it on a V8.
  10. @itsallyellow Remember that an 80's era boat is usually carbureted and possibly running points and condenser ignition. So don't expect it to start and run like a modern fuel injected engine. Translation....sometimes a lot of cranking and constant adjusting of the carb, ignition as well as timing. My buddy's '83 ran pretty well except.....his wife could never get it to start reliably.
  11. Skiied behind a '83 MC for years. Plenty of power from it's stock Ford 351 4V. Only complaint would be the softball sized spray in rough weather, at 32 off and shorter.

    Knock sensor

@dvskier Now that I recall, I replaced mine a few years ago because the end of the threads were pretty beat up. Good point.

    Knock sensor

The sensor doesn't wear out unless you're talking about the threads.
  14. Along with Scott, I lace mine (Connelly Sync) just snug and at the end of a set I can kick the ski off. I'm even more diligent after a buddy broke his leg earlier this season with extremely tight laces.
  15. yeah, if GM only knew how to build a proper small block. lol
  16. @A_B "The NRG at stock really shuts down in the preturn and wants to turn on its own. I'm seeing the same." I'm seeing the same behavior and after moving the rear boot back one hole, and skiing a set this morning, the offside turn is even more amazing.
  17. @slow I’m on the same 68”. Did you go with the factory settings and 8deg on the wing?
  18. New D3 NRG R2 demo arrived on Friday and I spent an hour setting up the fin and bindings. It's beautiful out of the box and feather light. First set was a noticeable improvement over my Carbon V. The biggest difference was the offside turns (don't have to work as hard) and acceleration once you put it on edge. Got another set in Sat morning and late last night. My buddy's wife says my spray got even bigger :)
  19. @Mastercrafter That tip has helped alot of the skiers in our club. When we see someone pull up flat behind the wakes, we usually suggest your advice and it's helped alot.
  20. @DW first couple times, the paddle wheel based Faria speedo. Then an app. Not scientific, only pointing out that older boats can still haul a$$. :)
  21. Just for the fun of it, we did some 0-36 hole shots the other night with my PCM based '02 MB. (5.7L H.O) and it ran pretty consistent 5's to mid 5's. And that's only 330hp. Even the biggest stud in our club never needs more than about 1/2 throttle.
  22. We're also looking at adding an Off Course to our club. Our slalom course is in the middle of the lake and due to seawalls that line the shoreline, we get about 2 passes before conditions deteriorate. One of our best skiers recently broke his leg due to the crap conditions. An Off Course would allow us to shoot a simulated course in smoother parts of the lake as conditions change. We're hoping to demo one ASAP.
  23. I bet it skis amazing
