  1. Our course is out in the middle of our medium sized lake. No trees to protect it and it runs east to west. So, course skiing is always challenging. We have a large island so we use that to our advantage when open skiing, as it always gives us a protected area for some glass.
  2. I lost my older brother in 1994 after a long battle with cancer. It's hard to express what an influence a great brother can have on your life. The laugh's, the stories, the motorcycle trips, the camping, and definitely the fun times at the lake, trying to throw big spray to impress each other. Sincerest condolences....Losing a brother sucks.
  3. I would be looking at either a Carbon Omni or a Connelly Carbon V, in 68" or 69" lengths, based on your weight.
  4. Our club is doing a 'Demo Days' this weekend with various Connelly, HO's for evaluation. I'm interested in trying my buddy's GT-R to compare it to my Carbon V.
  5. About ten years ago I took a bad fall in the course and thought I sprained my ankle as I could sorta, kinda walk on it. Went out of town for work and walked/limped on it for a week before seeing a doctor. And it was broken. Actually, the 5th metatarsal but since I walked on it all week, the crack only worsened. My stupidity resulted in a full leg cast for 14 weeks. Took another bad fall just three weeks ago with a very sore ankle and this time, went to the doctor that day and luckily it was only a deltoid ligament tear, which she said would heal in 2-3 weeks with a brace and daily P.T. Look up Alphabets for ankle sprains. With those, I started skiing last week. But most importantly, get it properly diagnosed foremost.
  6. Our pooch getting some advanced training on how to be our official Spotter. At first, he didn't understand why he had to sit 'there'. Now he's starting to get it.
  7. One of these will help you troubleshoot and allow you to set the timing by putting the engine in Base mode. https://www.amazon.com/CodeMate-Tester-MEFI-Reader-3851088/dp/B00XQ3I2AS
  8. Right ankle deltoid ligament as a result of a nasty OTF. Fireball Crown Royal Tito's mixed with lemonade. :)
  9. My daughter got up on one ski her first try at 6 years old. But she only did it because her girlfriends were in the boat and never went out with me to ski the course. 22 years later, she still slaloms, but only when there's someone to impress. I never worried about it, never wanted to force her into slalom. As others stated, the boat was about having fun and most of her weekends at the lake as a kid were tubing and knee-boarding, and just hanging out in the bay swimming with the dog. She'll tell you she had a great childhood. :)
  10. Any chance you mis-routed one plug wire when changing the plugs? I worked on a boat with your same exact problem and discovered the guy crossed the 2, 4 plug wires by mistake.
  11. Lately I've been appreciating: Working from home Skiing at 8am Skiing at noon Skiing at 9pm My 20 year old Direct Drive, which still runs perfect Conning my neighbor each day to take time off from work to ski with me My dog, who makes a great spotter in a pinch Life is good........
  12. A year ago I was paying $2.01 for premium. Now it's close to $4. My older PCM mill runs fine on 87. I don't see much of a difference in my boat's performance to justify getting raped at the pump.
  13. I'm on a private lake and we have a course. Problem is that it can only be "up" for a few hours each weekend per the deed restrictions. Coupled with it's location in the main area of the lake (determined by the State DNR and Lake association), UN-predictable weather, most skier's being weekenders and the main guy off in California, it's rarely used.
  14. It was pretty awesome in my telescope the other night.
  15. I was going to add one to my Lakeshore Lift, but $1900 for a new unit!!. I'll just crank mine the old way (good workout) or look for a used one.
  16. I play some keep away with the pooch, and run around the yard with him before hitting the course.
  17. pull the spark arrestor and verify that the carb squirts a strong stream of fuel when the throttle is opened. I just rebuilt a Holley with the same symptoms you have and it was the accelerator pump.
  18. A few years ago my buddy's kid was in the boat with us and being a brat. He grabbed a pair of gloves and threw them in the lake and was told, "better not do that again". The gloves were retrieved and sure enough, the kid threw 'em in again. So my buddy takes his T-Rex dinosaur toy and chucks it. It's still down there, waiting to be discovered by a future paleontologist.
