  1. I skied Wednesday night, lake temp 57, air temp 58. every so often western WA weather is nice in the fall.
  2. Deep light powder skiing, especially untracked, is nearly a religious experience. But so is glass smooth water. Both are a blast, nice to be able to do both!
  3. @AdamCord what goggles are you using?
  4. @FOB69 if you are looking to show up and ski - I think a few places offer rides for a fee. Radar Lake, Broho, Hilltop you can pay for sets. There is some coaching available at a few places too.
  5. rear boot is definitely an issue. I made it work by drilling out more holes. Not ideal but it works.
  6. @SkiRV very impressive! Good idea! Seems fairly simple to build and if it works, even better.
  7. @SkiRV do you have that on top of the PVC set up that others here have posted about? Seems like a pretty simple solution.
  8. thanks everyone! Trying to come up with a simple, cheap work around. Maybe buying an old go pro would be worth it.
  9. For those that have created their own PVC pylon camera mount. Anyone using their phone camera? Any chance you can show me the set-up you used and which phone mount you used? I'd really like some video of my skiing, hopefully that will help me improve. Hard to get video with just you and a driver.
  10. @Reg, Damn, good info to have! The PNW is a tough boat market, I'm down in Olympia and it took me a while. I was in a different price range but ended up with a 13 TXi. I talked a lot to Bananaron about boats, and still do. There are some great buys out there if you are willing to travel. The 14 CB SN200 if still around here seems like a great buy at around 35K. Hopefully something good comes along.
  11. https://seattle.craigslist.org/est/bod/d/kenmore-2017-ski-nautique-200-open-bow/6990729094.html Probably better deals out there but this has been "for sale" for quite a while, maybe you can deal with them.
  12. There are some 200s for sale in the seattle area for around your price range. Plus Bananaron knows of others. Shipping from Miami would be a pain.
  13. @bananaron - still skiing. As long as it isn't raining too hard! Hopefully the season lasts a few more months!
  14. I have a 2013 TXi. Overall it has been a fantastic boat. great wake, ZO, plenty of power. For the 2011-15 I don't think there were major changes year to year. I've heard in 15 or maybe 16 about moving the engine more forward. Honestly the boat tracks well, has a great wake. Plenty of space and higher side board so less water over the bow. The steering wheel is a little strange but not a deal breaker. The throttle is very sensitive, small movements make big changes but once the skier is up and you are around the island, does it matter? It took about 2 passes to get used to it. @ToddF if you ever find yourself in the Olympia area and are interested in looking at my boat or skiing, let me know.
  15. I rotated my back binding (LFF) clockwise a bit, going to try it soon. Just to see how it feels. I guess I'll wait and see! thanks for the comments.
  16. As I was recently in the market for a used boat, the late model prices weren't the problem. My experience was the 10-15yr old boats or older is where the glut exists. People were/are advertising and demanding top dollar above what would generally be perceived as market value. Just recently someone listed an 02 or 03 sunsetter on SIA for 32k. Personally, this is insane. That is not a realistic price, IMHO. I purchased a 13 TXi for 35k. There have bee a lot of 97-05 196s in my area, starting price 20k and only go up from there. It was hard for me to want to pay 20k+ for a 20+yr old boat. Bananron is a wizard at finding good deals and he is willing and able to travel for the right deal. My wife wasn't interested in me flying cross country to see and drive a boat, then trailer it back or ship it. I was somewhat limited geographically. But... If people are actually selling them, boats are only worth what someone is willing to pay. In the PNW, people seem to be willing to pay a lot.
  17. ugh, broken hip = very bad! I'm considering opening my back boot, see if I like it. mostly I'm hoping it helps me but hopefully I don't break my hip!
  18. so it sounds like it is mostly a comfort thing or personal preference and if you "feel" like it helps you it may be worth it.
  19. sorry to bring up very old posts but I just learned about this. During a recent D3 demo, the rep asked if I like my rear boot angled at all. I was stunned, mostly that I have never thought of doing this. He mentioned it can help with positioning especially on the off-side. I always wondered why there were so many rear holes on the binding but never put it together that you could angle it a bit. My question is, does this really help with the off-side? My off-side pull is my biggest weak spot. I just feel so awkward that I have a really hard time trusting the ski and my position to avoid going over the front. I tend to go slow and flat and then I have no chance to make the next ball. Does angling the rear boot help or is it just for comfort? Thanks!
  20. I felt very lucky to get a 13 TXi with average hours and ZO for 35k. It is overall in great condition other than a few cosmetic blemishes. An 05 Lxi with low hours sold for 30K nearby. Some other guy just posted an 06 LXI for 35k. Insane prices for >10-15 year old boats. Truth is that all boats are only worth what people are willing to pay. For now, people are or have been willing to pay more for local boats. If you are selling, the PNW seems to command high values for old boats. Just FYI.
  21. as someone recently in the market for a used boat it was very difficult to find one that was reasonably priced. People want insane money for 20 year old boats. My guess is that as new boats are soo expensive that people think their used boat is worth way way way more than it normally would. I had a 95 prostar 205 I bought in 2008 for 11k. Sold it in 2014 for 10.5k, now I see that same boat listed for 15-20K in WA. crazy. A crash is coming.
  22. clarification - the MC Prostar the year you are looking at, the 14+ is completely different.
  23. Most around here seem to say that the MC Prostar has a stiff wake at longer lines/slower speeds. Like anything there is a degree of subjectivity to that and if you ski it and love it, who cares? I recently purchased a 2013 TXi and absolutely love it! Great wake, lots of space, the 5.7 has plenty of power. Plus ZO - not that I am good enough of a skier to really notice the benefits but ease of use is huge. New boat should in theory last longer, obviously many factors go into that but the 15 is 9 years newer. Less wear and tear. Personally if you plan to keep the boat a long time, newer makes sense to me. If you want a temporary upgrade that will last for a few years then upgrade again, the MC is probably fine. Newer boats will have potentially more depreciation. I found that as new boats are insanely expensive that it is artificially keeping the price of used boats higher, at least in some places - like WA state. I can't comment on the 200 - never skied one. SN makes a great boat and obviously they are popular. I haven't had any issues to date on my TXi, if maintained I can't imagine I will.
  24. I recently did a demo for both the R1 and Evo-S. Basically the R1 took some of the grove/tunnel pattern from the EVO and incorporated it into the NRG - basically making it faster. It is still forgiving and predictable but less "twitchy" than the EVO-s. I could be wrong but this is basically what I was told. For my level I loved the R1, EVO was too twitchy for me but I can see for better, faster skiers that it would be a great ride!
