Current setup works great with GoPro hero 4 set to narrow field of view, 1080p, 60fps...

Now using a ski doc with a GoPro (looping) and a homegrown lipo power supply which will run the camera for hours. Previously used a cell phone mount like this one though. It worked great with my iPhone 6. One trick I learned is to disable the cameras stabilization. Stabilization caused some really weird effects in the video....

Thanks @jercrane, @skimtb , and @VTskier great info. I’m in a shallow lake in Maine so vis in mid summer is about 2 ft if I’m lucky. I like the idea of a guideline run to my beach, or.... maybe a whole flock of decoys!

@jercrane we’ve got a portable course on a small lake and it’s a pain to deploy many times a year. Can you tell me more about how you sink the course? Does it go to the bottom, or do you use Sub buoys? I’ve thought about doing this on our lake but visibility is only a few feet in mid summer and I’m afraid I might never find it again!

THANK YOU. I’m sure on reflex this season, and although I often check and tighten the screws into the ski, I never looked closely at the “horse shoe”. Mine was about to come off on one side. I doubt I had more than a thread or two left... Question-I’ve never used loc tight on my binding screws. I think I remember reading in the paperwork that came with me of my skis that it’s a no no. I’d never use the red stuff, but any reason for not using a little dab of the blue? I’m guessing the ski manufacturers might be afraid of the anchors coming loose from the ski before the loc tite releases?

In my experience larger/wider skis like the triumph are better with a soft pull. All that area creates lift (good) but also resistance (bad) if the pull is too fast...

Sometimes barefooting you’re better off holding on. Especially short line on the boom the upward vector can keep you from breaking something.. like you’re neck. First time I’ve ever seen it in slalom, but looks like it worked out nicely. I’d be curious to hear if down deep Freddy was doing it out of determination, or intentionally trying to prevent a painful digger.....

Also, the folks a pp were VERY helpful. For some reason the system wasn’t quite right in my boat so their electronics guru modified a board and fedexed it to me free of charge without making me jump thru hoops....

I upgraded my 03 malibu to pp stargazer zbox. Absolutely love it-I also ski behind ZO boats and as a 34mph amateur I can’t tell the difference...

@MNshortliner not to be funny, but maybe better to upgrade the fishing boat to something with a 60 or 70. By the time he outgrows that he’ll definitely be ready for your MC.....

Im at a similar level, but maybe spend more time in the course. In the last few years I’ve been on two senates, a d3 helix h2, and a Connelly carbon v. The carbon v is hands down my favorite AND was the cheapest of the bunch....

I’m in the market and looking for a zero off boat. Maybe it’s just me, but that seems to be a big factor between really expensive, and reasonable. Almost anything with zero off is 40k, most are 50+. Find something a year or two older w pp and it’s half the price. I’m hoping nautique 200 owners will get anxious to upgrade to the new hull and start pushing prices down. So for now I’m sticking with my old malibu....

Hi everyone-I’m Dan, age 54. I started skiing around age 10 on a small lake in Maine where my parents had a camp. There was (and still is) a show ski club on the lake which I skied with for several years. I participated in several novice tournaments in the 80s, and then pretty much dropped out of skiing for a couple decades. 10 years ago my wife and I bought a camp on that same lake, and my son joined the same ski club. I helped by chasing skis, driving, coiling ropes. Then 6 years ago my son showed interest in tournament skiing so we spent a week at Swiss ski school just for fun. I had assumed I was over the hill and was shocked to see many skiers at Swiss in their 60s or even 70s. So... there goes my whining about being old. ;-) We bought a portable slalom course we use in Maine, and plan to continue visiting Swiss as often as possible. I ski like crap. But love doing it and after 5 or 6 years I think I’m finally beginning to fix a lot of bad habits I burned into my brain back in the 80s......
