  1. We have TWBC. We don't need ESPN anymore.
  2. The short answer is yes, provided that you let the ski finish the turn to maximize your angle. If you don't let the ski finish, you can lean has hard as you want, but you have lost any momentum you could have gained.
  3. I have the D3 Leverage Blackouts. Did not like them at first, but they really grew on me. They are supportive, and easy to get out of once they are broken in.
  4. I saw a small ski like along the Ohio Turnpike around Toledo. Anyone know anything about it? I will get on the map another time to pin down a specific location.
  5. @Gloerson, 400 HP in a 2300 pound boat would be a beast. I would only do the repower if an engine rebuild is not possible. I would do a cost comparison first. I am at 2200 hours right now. I will be taking it in for its 400 hour service this spring. I have them change out the cap and rotors as needed, plugs and wires too. I also have them change the fuel filter, do an engine alignment check, and a compression check. The last compression check showed it was well within tolerance. I would like to have Zero Off, but that is the only thing the new boats have that I would want.
  6. @Kelvin I checked the PCM website. The displacement of the ZZ5(5.3L 355 HP) is 325 CID. The engine in my boat is 351 CID. I checked the PCM website. It should fit unless the other parts take up more space. I would be interested to hear from anyone who has repowered a boat with a ZZ5. The other engines the ZR4 (400HP)is 400 CID and the ZZ6 (450 HP) is 376 CID.
  7. If I had to repower today I would use the 5.3L PCM since the displacement is smaller than my current 351 Windsor PCM. 100 pounds lighter. 1 cubic foot smaller in the hope I would not have to alter the engine cover. Would change from the 1:1 transmission to the 1.23:1 if needed to make it fit. 1994 Ski Nautique. I would be interested to find out which engine would fit and also have Zero Off.
  8. I am worried with Correct Craft buying up the competitors, most recently Indmar, it will become more expensive to restore/modify older boats. If gasoline engines get banned we are all screwed.
  9. I see a few VENTURE trailers in Pennsylvania. Give them a try. Prestige Trailers took over for the Correct Craft trailers when they quit making them in 1995.
  10. I just bought a new Quantum Trick ski. First one in 22 years.
  11. Check out the hub motors on the Lordstown Endurance pickup truck. Stack 3 or 4 of them together there would be plenty of power. More space available for the cooling system and batteries. They are 150 HP each. I am sure they could be configured for marine use. Take out the brakes and they will be even smaller. The technology is there, but more adaptations are needed. With current technology it takes 100 pounds of batteries to store the same amount of potential energy as 1 gallon of gas which is about 5 pounds.
  12. I just replaced the original tires on a 1994 Correct Craft trailer which probably has less than 3000 miles on it. I has probably only been outside for 2 months its whole life. The tire dealer said the originals were still in good shape. Changed them as a precaution.
  13. There used to be a 1989 on my lake. It was a good boat. The dashboard was not good for manual driving(the days before Perfect Pass) when compared to a Nautique or Master craft, but overall nice to drive and ski behind. Put Perfect Pass with Z box in one and you have a good solid ski boat. Takes the shortcomings from the dash out of the equation. You had to look up to see the boat path, and down to see the speed while in the course. The Speedometers were not in your line of sight as some other boats.
  14. Hopefully more options to repower old boats with.
  15. If you store in a cold environment and have a metal gas tank store full. I have a plastic tank and store with 1/8 tank of gas, but with enough Sta-Bil to treat 80 gallons.
  16. I checked the Correct Craft website. They did buy Indmar.
  17. What would it cost if you built a ski boat with an interior comparable to a 1999 Ski Nautique(no Sea Deck), modern running surface, analog gauges, traditional source unit for a stereo, a 350-400HP engine, keyed ignition, traditional control switches, and Zero Off. The only touch screen would be for the zero off only. I am thinking a basic traditional closed bow boat with a modern running surface. I am guessing a boat 19'6' to 20'.
  18. Move your fin back for your onside, and make your fin longer for your offside. Do one adjustment at a time. Keep the wing at the recommended angle for your top speed per the ski manufacturer.
  19. Season ended early this year. When there is a hurricane in Florida it gets cold and windy in PA. The year of hurricane Harvey, one tournament was rescheduled because it was cold, and very windy. Dave's Pond in Edinboro PA had 1 foot whitecaps on it. The lake association ordered all boats had to be out by 10/23 for lowering the lake for maintenance on the dam. Missed a few weekends of skiing due to high winds and rain. Now it is Insanity workouts in the morning, and P90x and P90x2 in the evening. X stretch and X2 Mobility and recovery on rest days. Missed two tournaments this season due to illness. I have dropped off the rankings list completely. Skied in my first Nationals last year. I want to go back if I qualify.
  20. When we sink our course there is nothing left on the surface. Ice is not a problem. I use two landmarks to start dragging my grappling hook from my canoe to find it. Once I snag the cable and pull it up, I start swapping out the jugs with the buoys as pictured above. No tools required. The cable and pipes float a foot above the bottom.
