  1. Insanity and P90x workouts. Detail and overhaul steering on my boat. Change cable on the lift.
  2. 303 makes a waterproofing agent. I was able to use it to extend the life of a cover to 17 years on a boat that sits on a lift during the season. Buy the spray bottle and the gallon refill. It will be more than enough to treat it. Once it cures it should make the water bead up and run right off.
  3. When I winterize mine '94 Ski Nautique with the 351 Ford. When I drain the block and the manifolds I spray a hose into the drain holes and let the water drain out. I keep repeating until the water comes out clear. I put the plugs back in, then draw the RV antifreeze out of a bucket while fogging the engine. Since the boat is stored in a semi heated garage which is dry I store it with the gas tank at 1/8th of a tank, but I add enough sta-bil to store 30 gallons. I run that through the engine after changing the oil and letting the boat idle for 10 minutes before draining the block and manifolds. I take the tension out of the belts, and remove the battery and charge it once per month. Going to overhaul my steering system. There is some side to side play in the rudder(not bad yet), and some rotational play(not bad yet). New tilt, maybe a new steering head, cable, going to inspect the clamp block, and the rudder port. I am hoping the rudder shaft is not worn. If it is I will replace it with a tunable rudder. The current cable is okay, but will have to replace it if I replace the steering head since it requires a newer cable design.
  4. I use a two part teak cleaner called Teak A Teak B. I use Amazon's Golden teak oil. I apply the teak oil with a paint brush. I use a tire brush while cleaning.
  5. 7 stiches above my right eye from getting hit with the ski. Lucky my right arm took most of the hit. Still have a half inch scar above my right eye socket. Got yanked over the front of my ski 36MPH 28 off.
  6. Try out as many as you can. There are no bad skis out there. You have to find the one that works for you. I have been on O'Briens, D3, and Connelly. I am on a 2015 Connelly GT right now. I get into 32off most of the time and sometimes 35 off. I sometimes think the GT may be above my ability level, but it is great in rough water. It slices right through it. The Radars and HO's are very fast. I could not get in sync with the HO Syndicate A1 because it would slip out from under me, and the Radar felt unstable in rough water but felt like my Connelly otherwise. Bear in mind I will ski on water that most of my peers would sit out for the day. Most of the skis I had required some fin adjustments and binding moves, but the D3 Nomad RCX was the only ski that worked perfect for me right out of the box.
  7. Eric at OJ recommended the 4 blade Force prop for my boat.
  8. @skimtb Sounds like the 3 blade Cnc may be the way to go.
  9. Currently running a 13x13 oj legend on a 1994 Ski Nautique 1:1 transmission 240 HP. I am looking at upgrading to the OJ force 4 blade 13x13, or the Acme 430 13x13 3 blade CNC. The Acme has a .080 cup and the OJ force and legend(current) have .090 cup. I primarily pull slalom and tricks, but pull some barefoot too. I did an acceleration check last week, idle to 36 in 6 seconds with no skier, and top speed 43 MPH. Looking to improve speed holding if possible, any maybe help improve acceleration. I have heard some props help flatten out the wakes on some boats. Anyone had any experience with that? Any ideas?
  10. Never liked an open bow on a ski boat. I have brought water over the bow while driving them. Two different brands.
  11. No change in the wakes, but the pull feels stronger.
  12. All of the boats are getting to be too big and too heavy. The Ski Nautique wake is bigger at 22 off 34 MPH than my '94 Ski Nautique, beyond that it is okay. It kicked my butt at the Midwest Regionals where I fell on my opener. I was not expecting the bump. I was better prepared at Nationals. The Pro Star is the best for slalom hands down. I like the Ski Nautique, and the Malibu for tricks. I like the 2010-2018 Ski Nautique 200's the best for both slalom and tricks. The Carbon Pro was a great boat too. I would go back to that design and try to make them lighter and quicker, and maximize floor/cockpit space. Keep 3 event boats 20 feet or less and under 3000 lbs.
  13. @bracemaker I already emailed him, and he did recommend the OJ Force. He said it would be better hole shot and a smoother ride. No affect on top end. I am leaning toward that one at the moment.
  14. My boat has an OJ legend 3 blade 13x13. I have the 240 HP engine with the 1:1 transmission, 1994 Ski Nautique. Any opinions on which prop would be better, OJ Force 4 blade 13x13, or the Acme 430 13x13 3 blade? Primarily pull slalom and trick, but some barefoot.
  15. @TomH, if you get a chance, can you let me know what your original prop specs are?
  16. Skiing my first Nationals Men 4 slalom and trick. Will be there thurs, and leaving after Men 4 trick is over on Friday.
  17. One fin setting for cold water 72 degrees or less, another for warm 77 or above. 76 degrees lately. I like it around 72-73.
  18. OJ props recommended for the the OJ Force. Essentially the same prop I have now, but with 4 blades.
  19. @TomH What boat do you have, engine, transmission etc..? I am curious which Acme prop you have. the acme 430 may fit my boat.
  20. @dbutcher I don't know. A metallurgical engineer would have to answer that. I have seen pictures of broken driveshafts on surf boats. I have been told the CNC machined props are more accurate, and have less slippage verses a forged one. I have 2140 hours on my boat with no issues.
  21. I have only had to remove my prop twice in 27 years, for minor repairs. All I needed was a monkey wrench, pliers, and a rubber mallet to remove. Boat has been on the same lake all its life, so I know where the hazards are. Thinking of a prop upgrade. I have the 240 HP 351 PCM with the 1:1 trans. I primarily pull slalom, tricks, and barefoot. Any suggestions for an upgrade? Current prop is a 13x13 RH OJ Legend. 3 blade (stock)
  22. On Lake Latonka we have an Accufloat course. We swap out the buoys with plastic 1 gallon jugs half full of water. The ski buoys are attached with mason string and brass dog leash type clips. I have another set of brass clips attached to the jugs with zip ties. The cables and pipes float below the surface between 6 feet down to 1 foot off the bottom. I can bring it up and submerge it by myself in my canoe with no tools other than a rope and a custom made grappling hook(all edges on it are rounded and smooth). I have help. Two of us can sink it or bring it up in under an hour. Antifreeze or washer fluid jugs will work.
  23. @horton I happened to luck out this time, both Regionals and Nationals are in Illinois which is just a 6 hour drive each way from where I live on Ohio. Looking forward to meeting skiers from other parts of the country.
