  1. On older boats, the 1997-2001 Ski Nautique(aka bubble back) has the best slalom wake. If you do more than slalom then the 1990-1996(a.k.a. slant back) is a good boat. It is still my favorite for tricks/kneeboarding. The crest of the wake is sharp and hard, and the table in between is flat and smooth. The slalom wake is just as flat at the bubble back, but not as soft. It is a bit less forgiving if you are not in the correct pull/lean position. I remove the back seat which flattens it out a bit. The bubble back when compared to modern boats when equipped with the GT40 engine and the latest version of Perfect PAss Stargazer and zbox will give you the best bang for the buck.
  2. I have bought several from C and S marine, and had them installed locally. Very pleased with the results.
  3. @Oldskier If that is an accufloat course you can submerge it. Just swap out the buoys with antifreeze/washer fluid jugs half full of water. I use zip ties to attach the jugs to a brass bolt snap and just clip it to the eyes on the pipe and let it sink. Two of us go out in a canoe and a rowboat. The only thing we need to bring out is a rope with a grappling hook.
  4. I am beginning to think I had it last January and February. It was like a cold that would not go away. It would go away and come back. My lungs never felt completely clear. I went to Florida in February and had to come home after two days. I could not hang on to the rope to get up on my trick ski by the end of my second day. When I came out of the water on my slalom ski it felt like every muscle in my body was going to snap like a rubber band. I felt fine when I left for Florida, but noticed I was not 100% when I tried to ski. I had a mild cough, mild shortness of breath. I went through 3 rounds of antibiotics before I felt normal. I got better then the whole thing breaks out. I could have had it, but don't know for sure.
  5. Not legal in Pennsylvania. Even on a private lake the your property rights stop at the waters edge. The Fish Commission can come in at any time. The only exception is a barefoot suit, or trick skiing. You still have to have a USCG approved vest on board for all passengers and skiers. The comp vests are too thin. I like having padding for those bad crashes. I have two Ski Warm/Connelly USCG neo vests.
  6. On Lake Latonka in Pennsylvania we get the foam gate buoys from skier to skier, and the orange buoys from Overtons. The Overtons buoys can take more punishment verses the others. Fading is not a huge issue since the course gets submerged at the end of the season, and the buoys get rotated in and out as divots get cut loose during the season. It is a private lake, but the course is set up to be jet ski and tuber proof. The buoys are attached with mason string so they break off if snagged so the whole course does not get ripped out(Accufloat).
  7. I just use the overtons buoys inflated to actual size. They are only held on the pipes with mason string so they will move if you hit them, or in a worse case they will break off. If you have an individually anchored course with sub buoys, thick ropes, and 6 feet or less of water they are not going to move which is where I have seen most of the injuries.
  8. I have only got 6@35 off once, but lost the handle at the exit gates in practice.
  9. Most people don't understand how hard the sport is in general. In college I had a guy scoff at me saying water skiing is not a sport, he said it took no talent to get dragged behind a boat.
  10. A friend of mine bought a 1984 American Skier. The engine was in perfect shape, the upholstery was like new, and the hull was like new. The floor and the stringers had rotted out. He rebuilt the stringers and the floor and put in new carpeting. He also installed Perfect Pass Stargazer. It was a kick ass boat. It had a great trick wake, and slalomed good too wakes were great. There was some spray at 32 off and shorter, but not bad. It had 240 HP but since the boat was under 19 feet it was like a rocket coming out of the hole. One of my favorite boats to drive.
  11. I am not an attorney, but I don't see how anyone under the legal system can show any actual harm to the person being suspended. There is no financial loss if a person is not allowed to participate, and no injury by not being allowed to participate. You are in a voluntary relationship with the organization, and by participating you agree to the code of conduct. Under that code of conduct the organization has the right to suspend or terminate the relationship. I would be surprised if a court would take such a case. Any attorneys out there? Am I on the right track? My take for being no is, we don't need the added legal costs to have an organized sport. However, law enforcement would have to get involved if there is a case of assault, battery, or sexual assault.
  12. I getting full course times from 16:95-17:00 at 34MPH. My split times are coming out at +-.02. I had to adjust it to stop the surge.
  13. I think I have mine dialed in. The B2 setting feels like a slightly softer pull than SG setting. Is anyone else getting similar results? The pull feels pretty solid on both.
  14. 70% of the boats on my lake are pontoons. I would not want to see ski boats get any bigger. Towing and storage become problematic as they get bigger. I like the interior of the Pro Star. I prefer an open floor. The saddlebags on the Nautique are a good feature, but prefer the open floor. Easier maintenance, and fewer moving parts.
  15. I would like to see 3 options, open bow, closed bow, or open bow with the cover. I finally got to drive one of the new pro stars(2016). I thought is was a piece of cake to drive. I like the bow cover so you have a closed bow most of the time, but I would like to see a better mechanism to lock it down.
  16. Andy Mapple was right foot forward. Cory Pickos is left foot forward. Much to do about nothing. Go with the one that feels more natural. I am left foot forward, and my brother is right foot forward. Stand up and tie your shoes while standing on one leg. Which ever one you have better balance should be forward.
  17. @Edmund I think you can, but slow down to disengage before changing it.
  18. @Edmund you can make the turn back into the course without stopping, but you will want to slow the boat down 4 mph to disengage the system, then throttle back up after you have finished the turnaround.
  19. I still use the USCG Connelly and Ski Warm Neo vests. The non USCG comp vests in Pennsylvania are not legal.
  20. I have 4 Masterline slalom handles, and 4 ropes from Performance Pure from Performance Ski and Surf of Orlando. Bought them in 2011. Still like new.
  21. I went there and Lapoint Ski Park in February. Had to leave early due to illness. Planning to return in November 2021.
  22. I tried the following numbers 45 ball 1, 25 ball 3 and 35 ball 4 to exit. My course times came out between 16.96-17:00 with most of the split times coming out at +-.01, with one or two of them coming out at +.02 or .03. I entered my numbers on the sheet. I think I have it. I have zbox so I tried it in both SG and B2. The B2 pull felt softer. Sound about right?
  23. I think I have mine dialed in. I set ball 1 to 45 , ball 3 to 25 and ball 4 to exit @ 35. At 34.2 mph my full course times were between 16.96 and 17.00. Most of the split times were +- .01 with one or two of them at -+ .02 or .03. I tested it first with the zbox off. The full felt pretty solid, but no surging that I could tell. Set it to B2 and the pull felt a bit softer. Ran a bunch of 22’s and 28’s at 34.2. I have the keep set to +. I have mine set to use the crew weight. Had slight windy conditions, but perfect water. Does the SG setting feel firmer than B2 for anyone else?
  24. @Keith2oskier that works but I still like having both of them working. Mine still works from the factory.
  25. @UWSkier I would drop a new engine in mine verses going 15 years in debt for a new one. My boat turns around 3100 RPM to go 34, and 3300 for 36 MPH. My next upgrade on my boat is to convert my analog speedometer to GPS. There is a kit where you can convert your boat's original speedometer to run on GPS, but look like the original Airguide speedometers. http://www.nauticlaugic.com/airglide.html I still use it for manual driving if I am pulling barefooters. Just upgraded my Perfect Pass Stargazer to v9.2 and zbox. Still trying to get it tuned. I got the 2-3 ball surge taken care of, now just trying to tighten up the split times.
