  1. Looking at finding a way where I can take my lift out by myself without getting in the water. I was thinking these would work. We have two Hewitt Roll a Docks that we pull out with an electric winch attached to lawn tractor and utility trailer. Trying to do the same with the lift.
  2. Has anyone installed Smarte Jacks on their boat lifts for removal. Are they a good product or are they junk?
  3. The bunks on your trailer are a good starting point. The important thing is to have the weight of the boat on the stringers. Don't have them too narrow. The engine compartment, and the stern floor panel is a good reference point. They should be at least 6 inches out from the edge of those points.
  4. I tried the yellow Sem marine vinyl on the spongex gate buoys. Makes them look like new.
  5. I found Blaze florescent orange spray vinyl at walmart.com. I am going to see how it holds up. Spray it on very thin, otherwise it will peel off if not smooth.https://www.walmart.com/ip/Plasti-Dip-Spray-Blaze-Orange/45820516
  6. Take out the powerhead and put it in an inboard.
  7. Might make sense for an outboard surf boat. Overkill for skiing unless you were going for a 100 barefooters behind one boat. Hang 3 of those on the back of a Dyna-ski?
  8. I have a '94. Still the best dashboard set up of any boat for manual driving(barefoot). Still the best trick wake of anything I have skied behind. The wake is pretty close to the '97-99 if you take out the back seat, but the '97-99 wake is softer which is why it is a favorite among the older boats out there.
  9. Old site was better. nuff said..
  10. I'd prefer not to have a turbo charger on an engine. The extra heat and higher compression shorten the life of the engine, and make it more expensive to fix. Check out the Endurance, the electric pickup truck from Lordstown Motors. The hub motors would be a great way to repower a ski boat. Four of them would easily fit under an existing engine cover. 600 HP with four of them. but two or three of them would do the job.
  11. It has a good slalom wake. Just keep the boat balanced, and don't carry any extra gear on board than you need.
  12. Fundamentals are the same, but at 36 there is much less room for error. Keep knees bent and soft. It is much easier to blow your fin out.
  13. If you get on a single trick ski, get a Wiley's trick wrap binding.
  14. jgills88. PM me. I live near the Akron area. I can help you get started..
  15. I have an old boat. The new ones are so easy to drive that there should not be any problem keeping it straight.
  16. @Stevie Boy If you find yourself in Western PA between May-October look me up. I will give you a pull.
  17. @Stevie Boy I plan to. I am just planning ahead because a rebuild/replacement will happen eventually. I have been told most engines will need one at 3000 hours.
  18. I am at 2100 hours and the number still looked good on the last compression check. Just looking to see what my options are since a new boat is out of reach.
  19. Anyone rebuild a 240 HP PCM 351 carb FORD? How much did it cost? Anyone drop a new engine in a '94-'96 Ski Nautique? How much did it cost? Anyone know if a 5.3l direct injection could be installed in a '94 Ski Nautique(PCM H5 or equivalent)?
  20. Mooring whips are the way to go if you have to leave it in all day. Get a lift if you can if it will be practical in your area.
  21. @swbca Yes they can. If you get good slalom times with no surging once you get it installed you won't need to do anything. My boat is older with a '94 SN 240 HP carb FORD PCM, 1:1 transmission. I have it dialed in. I have to change the Kx setting higher as the water gets warmer. It controls how aggressive the throttle response is. The higher setting firms up the pull. If I don't turn the Kx setting up when the water gets warm my times come out on the slow side(still within tolerance). Making that adjustment puts it closer to actual.
  22. Pros, it works great once you get it tuned for your particular boat. Cons, It may take a while to get the background settings correct if the factory settings are not a match for your boat. I set a new PB at a tournament practicing behind it most of the time.
  23. I don't need the pre-gates at home, but definitely needed at a tournament. I use the 2,4,6 buoy line and the entrance gates to set up my start since I don't have the green buoys to practice with.
  24. We don't have pre-gates on the course at Lake Latonka. Not a problem. We have plenty of runway at the ends so they are not an issue. Some skiers need them to time their pre-gate pull.
