  1. When we sink our course there is nothing left on the surface. Ice is not a problem. I use two landmarks to start dragging my grappling hook from my canoe to find it. Once I snag the cable and pull it up, I start swapping out the jugs with the buoys as pictured above. No tools required. The cable and pipes float a foot above the bottom.
  2. I have a custom grappling hook that I use to maintain the course. I will post a photo the next time I am at the lake. Boat is in the garage. Time to start detailing.

  4. @swbca You want the round end pointed down. The buoys will float upright. No problems with hitting the buoys with the boat. They float like the inflatable ones.

  6. Lake Latonka is similar conditions to a public lake. We have an Accufloat Course. We attach the buoys with mason string and brass clips to the eyebolts. If a buoy gets snagged it will break off without ripping the whole course out. We swap out the buoys with the jugs half full of water for the gates and 3/4 full of water for the skier buoys and sink it for the winter. The waterline on the buoy down to the eye bolt and clip is about 6 feet. It is out in the middle of the lake and it is about 15-20 feet deep. We tightened up the anchor and cable by hand as much as possible. We have a ratchet at one end to adjust the tension. No tools required to submerge or bring it back up. Canoe, rowboat, and grappling hooks. When submerged it floats about a foot off the bottom. We use the jugs so we can make adjustments to the buoyancy if needed. During the season we keep a few spare buoys in the boats. I only had to replace 2-3 buoys that got snagged and broken off. The yellow bullet shaped foam buoys work very well with the eyes made out of rope. Only lost 1 this year. If you use the foam buoys for the gates they can take hits from a prop, they last for years, can be refurbished with SEM Marine spray vinyl, but if you use the metal eyes and mason string you will lose buoys more frequently since the metal eyes will wear out the string from bobbing around in the waves. Hope this was helpful!
  7. I have a 1994 Ski Nautique with 2200 hours on it. I will get it rebuilt or repowered if the engine dies. Six figures for a depreciating asset, a new boat. I hear Dave Ramsey's voice in my head saying, "Well, that is just a whole lot of stupid". I think our sport will be dead on 30 years if not sooner. No one is interested and can't afford it.
  8. I have a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox now. It does the job for the short distances that I tow. 3500 pound towing capacity.
  9. Send your gps antenna back to perfect pass in the offseason to get the firmware updated. I had to do it to mine.
  10. I have been to Regionals in Center City MN. I have extended family in the twin cities, and in Duluth. Great place to ski.
  11. Lake Latonka, Mercer PA Aurora Shores, Aurora OH and Dave's Pond, Edinboro PA
  12. I order cylinder shaped float for my handles.
  13. 3M Restorer and wax, followed by meguiars cleaner wax, then meguiars flagship wax. Try that before wetsanding. It may take more than one attempt. I do it by hand.
  14. I use Rain-x on my windshield and mirror.
  15. @ETskier I have a 1994 Ski Nautique with the 351 Windsor PCM 240 HP with the 1:1 transmission. I am running a 13x13 RH OJ Legend. I am considering the Acme 540 13x12 RH 3 blade, or an OJ force 13x13 4 blade. I primarily pull slalom and tricks, but some barefoot. I have not decided which way to go. I currently top out at 43MPH and wide open throttle is between 4100-4400 RPM. I would have to check the engine manual, but if my memory serves me the maximum RPM at wide open throttle cannot exceed 4400 rpm.
  16. @ETskier I have a 13x13 RH OJ legend(factory) prop on mine. I have heard the 4 blade can flatten out the slalom wakes on some boats. How did it affect your top speed, and speed holding? Did it add any turbulence in the trick table at trick speeds(14-20 MPH)?
  17. You can do a surface 180 fb and bf, and reverse 180 fb and bf you will get credit. You can do a surface 360 and reverse. If you do any more surface tricks they are considered the same trick after that.
  18. I always have my engine alignment checked every 400 hours when I take it in for a tune-up since the boat was new. Don't have the guts to attempt it myself.
  19. Rain-x on both sides does help. You will still need to wipe it off though.
  20. Thank you Jody! I needed a good laugh today.
  21. I put Perfect Pass in mine in 2008, Upgraded to version 9.2 and Zbox in 2017. Over the winter I replaced the entire steering system with the one used in 1998 and newer models, except for the rudder itself. Changed the helm, tilt, cable, clamp block assembly, and repacked the rudder port. I replaced the second speedometer with a GPS one. The original was faded. The pickups were about to fail too. Wanted something more accurate to pull barefooters. It is easier to drive manually while reading an analog face. If money allows I may upgrade to an ACME prop. Trying to improve the speed holding to make the pull feel like the newer boats. The newer props don't slip as much because they have better grip of the water.
  22. Check out insta-slalom.com It has river adapters.
  23. Go to boatliftanddock.com. They sell all kinds of dock accessories. There may be something that will work.
  24. I have a '94. Still going strong at 2200hours.
