  1. I ejected over the front hit / kicked the back of own my head with the back of my foot full scorpion. My parents had left for 4th of July, I was 19 and had a good friend and some girls lined up for a day on Folsom Lake, CA. I had taken their California Skier out a few times with permission (without them). I strategically did not ask or mention I hoped to take it out on 4th of July in case they would have said No. They strategically placed one car in front of the boat that was in the garage and hid the key. I was able to rock crawl the boat through the front yard sideways out the garage without damaging it around said car (and back in). I had a friend whom had only driven an inboard once before pull me on what was surprisingly good water for the 4th on a public lake. Showing off I crashed, very hard full scorpion. Hurt my back bad but I was able to sort of walk. I tried to hide my injury when they got home and that was tough. Ultimately a week later my neighbors ratted me out. I almost could not stand straight for a month, but luckily I was able to go on with my active lifestyle without issue. 10 years later I started getting sharp pains in the same area of my lower back riding motocross. Chiropractor did some X Rays and said I must have broken my back years ago in that location. Luckily with help of Chiropractor, stretching, strength and fitness it no longer bothers me. Payback was a bitch though. Hope to share the story with my daughter when she is old enough to learn from it. My parents can laugh about most these bygones, but this one still a soar spot 24 years later.

  3. Actually skiing on a course with some regularity, lol. After a 22 year break then only 6 ski days in the last 6 months I hope to take advantage of a new private water membership and: Ski at least weekly Off the water I will work on further enhancing my anaerobic (sprint/fast twitch capabilities) as I have been more focused on endurance sports previously. I developed a H.I.T. workout that I call "Cold Starts" trying to improve my ability to go from being inactive and not warmed to full aerobic capability in as short a time as possible (without ramping up so fast I hurt myself). I will film myself and try and make my body do what I know I am supposed to do - comparing it to pros at the same speeds and line, then I will lean on my ski partners to offer additional advice, then I will seek professional coaching when I know what blanks need filled in and hit any walls.
  4. Run Rotella T6 15/40 in my 1994 Mercruiser 454 EFI Ski without issues.
  5. Thanks for the responses ballers. @UWSkier porpoiseing is a pretty good way of describing it however it seems to be worse the faster I glide into the turn and it feels like a water troll pushes up on the ski from under the ball of my left rear foot at the end of the glide. I am thinking my winglits may be too shallow actually pushing the rear of the ski up when its most flat on the water in the glide? I will check later today and possibly just remove winglits as others have suggested. I am RFF @Deanoski and this has been most noticeable at 3 ball (offside) after a strong onside turn and cut from 2 to 3. I will take some video next time.
  6. Just getting through the course 15 off 30 MPH. P.R. 20 years ago was 32 Off 34 MPH; never had much course time and I had not skied in 21 years until last August. Only had about 5 days on the course over last 6 months until now; just started at a private lake membership so able to ski once a week now. I understand ski mechanics but need water time to link everything and time everything (don't we all, lol). I am 6'2" 200lbs skiing on a 2020 69" Radar Senate Graphite Reflex Boa Bindings - Rear HRT. Running Radar Recommended fin settings and fin winglets pretty shallow / not steep angle. I have been getting what feels like a ski bounce (up and down hop) at the end of the glide when I first start to transfer to inside edge to turn back towards the wake, right before the start of my full turn. Its almost like I am hitting rollers, but I am not. This throws me a bit off balance initiating the turn. Not sure if this is possibly a ski equipment set up issue or my body mechanics. If anyone wants to offer advice with this limited info I would appreciate it. Hopefully take video next time out that may make it more obvious what is going on.
  7. Many variables but willing to chip in to possibly help a skier enjoy the sport. Others probably more qualified to answer but here is what I would do . Possibly try different amounts of knee and back flex when you get up. I would try floating with a tight rope and your knees only at a slight bend with ski tip up in front of you. Immediately when the boat takes off keep pressure on the ski through your feet but absorb some of the initial pull by a controlled squat through your knees, ankles, possibly almost until you are sitting on your bindings with your weight still centered over the ski. By now the boat should have enough speed for your ski to start to hold up your weight and you can start to stand more upright again. Hope this helps and have fun with the processes.
  8. @horton I know from hauling gas for my DirtBike it has more to do with the Canister itself than where it is carried or secured. I got a fixit ticket for hauling a very secure square VP style jug on my hitch hauler like that, cop said I had to get a "certified jug" like the style you have shown.
  9. I'm 6'2" 210lbs and got a 2020 69" Senate Graphite. I had not skied for 22 years and now on the course again. Great Ski but If I did it again I would have gone for a pro-build or Lithium. As @Horton has pointed out, the build / edition of these skies has a significant impact on how they ski. I read this before buying; but should have taken it more literally. Coming off a 1996 Connelly Revolution Speedbase, the "activeness" of modern ski felt strange at first compared to the super stiff and dead feeling of my old Connelly.
  10. Google Trends is a great tool to look at this:
  11. Hey, Epstein didn't kill himself
  12. Anyway... we have been trying to reach you about your cars extended warranty.
  13. I blame the now common 15 year+ finance option that drove up watersports boat prices. A friend of a friend is 32 y/o makes 60k/year financed a 150k Nautique Wake Boat for 26 years. It has a head and was considered his second residence.
  14. Should we tell someone about this or keep it to ourselves?
  15. Good input @Horton buying a ski today is like dating; you can go out with one of the Smith Girls but if you are going out with Cindy Smith (Graphite Senate ) you may have a whole different experience than with her sister Mary Smith (Pro Build Senate ). * Fictitious sisters, I am not referencing any real Smith's My Radar Senate Graphite is a great ski, just not used to the relatively slower flex rebound response; especial coming off a virtually no flex 1990's stick. If I would have taken others or Radar's advice more precisely and got a Pro Build, would probably be a perfect ski for me. No fault of Radar or the ski, but hopefully others can take note of how different the material and/or core version make. Just like Miss Smith, I think it best to take it out on a test whenever possible before you marry her.
  16. I have never bought the "Advanced" "Expert" "Pro" version of sporting equipment and ever had buyers remorse. I do regret buying my Radar Senate vs a Vapor. I skied on a 1995 Connelly Revolution SPeed Base in College, took 21 years off. Got back into it and took advice from others and bought a new 2020 Rader Senate Graphite 69" I'm 6'2" 220lbs fit. I have huge buyers remorse. Not a bad ski at all, but for the same price could have got a Radar Vapor. Probably a combination of lack of skill and changes in technology the ski feels way too soft. I am going to keep skiing on it and try to adapt; Im sure the ski could out perform me, but would would rather be adapting to a "too advance" ski. I am already getting through the course again and feel the ski is to big and soft.
  17. I would rather test it myself or non-government entity. Last thing I want is unnecessary attention brought to a place for recreation; only if water is truly a threat to public health would I bring attention to it. California not exactly friendly to public or private land use. One minute G-Man is testing the water, the next lake shut down for an endangered virus called freedom that could threaten government dependency.
  18. Are there any cheap lake water testing kits that one could trust? For myself; if I don't grow new body parts or get sick, good to go (if its glass maybe a little sick or another toe ain't so bad); however for my 9 y/o daughter, I would kind of like to know if harmful bacteria, toxins etc. Seen some kits on amazon, but have not had any experience with them?
  19. That looks like an great adventure @cougfan I had family that lives on the Puget Sound. What kind of mileage you cover in the Malibu? Did you have to stop for gass?
  20. I am a bit biased to my 1994 Tige SLM Comp 454 EFI. 21. Technically it was Feb 28th. Great day skiing Hidden Anchorage Mission Bay with San Diego Water Ski Club. Enjoy watching Robin Harwood ski while I fly the drone. Hope to get a SkyDio 2 fully autonomous drone soon that can chase myself while I ski.
  22. @Horton I was looking to delete after I posted. I see its almost no different than some old post on this same boat. Feel free to take down or let it lay.
  23. Came across this new video today searching YouTube. Boat has been discussed already but this is a new video I believe.
  24. I am the owner of www.ev-mods.com and pretty knowledgably on the subject of electric vehicles. I founded the site not to save the earth, but rather purely for the performance capabilities of electric vehicles and the driving experience. A better car or better boat will win market-share over the internal combustion engine long term vs. temp artificial stimulation from legislation. This is how Tesla is winning, building a better product. A good friend of mine and V.C. have discussed electric 3-Event and Wake-boats; even considering what it would take to launch a company. Retrofitting electric drivetrain into existing Dog-House / Fuel Tank locations would not be our approach; rather we would build from the ground up incorporating the battery as a structural part of the hull. This is what Tesla and other Electric vehicle companies are looking to do as well. https://techcrunch.com/2020/09/22/future-teslas-will-have-batteries-that-double-as-structure-making-them-extra-stiff-while-improving-efficiency-safety-and-cost/
  25. I installed the Optima Blue Top D31M on a Perko switch along with the existing traditional battery already in the boat. I weighed the value of saving space and weight by running only the Optima, but rationalized the 40ish lbs additional weight of 2 batteries was in front of the boat and a good counter balance for no-spotter or petite spotter scenarios. Using only the new Optima Battery (Bat-1) Starting the Mercruiser 454 EFI cold, it still took a few revolutions to kick over, starting only slightly better than a cold start on the old battery; however, once warmed up it started much faster on repeated starts-stops than with the old battery. Additionally; My blower sounded clearly more powerful. On this day I was recalibrating my Perfect Pass 6.4 to a new ACME 515 Prop cruising solo around a small lake. I had the confidence to run the stereo through stops and starts and overall very happy with the new battery set-up.
