  1. Thanks guys for all your help. Cup has been epoxied and is curing. Might take one session on it in this evening or morning. Ordered a replacement from SKIDIM and should be here tomorrow for peace of mind.
  2. So I'm on a lake vacation with the boat and discovered the water strainer bowl is cracked and leaking. Anyone ever have this problem? I've called 6-8 dealers in a 2 hour radius looking for someone who carries this part and no one has it in stock. A couple of the mechanics have suggested using 3M 5200 to seal the crack as a temporary fix. Boat is running fine with no temp issues and I'm sure it's been this way for days/weeks without my knowledge. I'm Ok with a "Deadliest Catch" style fix to get me through the next two days, but I also don't want to ruin the engine either. Thoughts?
  3. I wish slalom skiers could pick their boat like trick skiers. All the same arguments apply.
  4. I can tell you that I ski behind the one in Ohio regularly and it’s in perfect condition. You can fly round trip from Orlando to Cleveland on Frontier for ~$100. If he’s not interested in this boat, he’s not serious.
  5. It's my understanding the tube flipped over with the rider on it. The rider was knocked unconscious, sank and drowned. My assumption is that the vest actually came off. The basis for my assumption is my own experience, in a major crash almost two years ago my vest came almost completely unzipped as I laid face-down unconscious in the water. Are the new style competition vests safe enough? As skiers, we generally don't like tubers because they mess up the water, but really most are just reckless and have no idea the danger that is posed when whipping someone (usually a child) at a high rate of speed. Water skiing has inherent risk to it, but it's generally done in a controlled environment. The contradiction of tubing is that while it's the easiest, it's likely to be the most dangerous. Solution - take your kids kneeboarding. You can still buy your 200k boat, but it's much safer.
  6. Will this have an impact on manufacturers ability or willingness to make competition style vests? Link 1 Link 2
  7. I’ve had the same problem. The whole thing is pretty much gone. My dealer tried to fix it, but they did a crappy job.
  8. Why not look at @SkiKolb Centurion?
  9. @Drago yes. I ski with @SkiKolb a lot and I like to give him a hard time when the opportunity presents itself - which is probably more than he prefers and more than I should.
  10. Does this come with free shipping to anywhere in the continental U.S.?
  11. My boat path looks pretty good in those pics though... ;)
  12. Shortline IPA gets my vote. Ball of Spray IPA gives Horton even more control over the intergalactic empire.
  13. Do they twist a certain way because the boat always turns in the same direction to pick you up?
  14. Phoenix trailers are the best for 200. I’ve owned 4 different 200s, with 4 different trailers, Boatmate being one of them. Phoenix was the clear winner.
  15. @Ed_Johnson yeah man - you helped a Baller out that day! We are doing great and my kids are probably going to pass me up this year.
  16. I would have given you at least 15500. Too bad I was late to the auction.
  17. @CollinSpradlin I don’t think so. This guy is a little more handsome. ;)
  18. He's missing his body guard https://www.ballofspray.com/forum#/discussion/12610/who-is-seth-stishers-body-guard
  19. I highly doubt the sales & marketing execs. at the boat manufacturers rely on the tournament promo program as a reliable means for marketing and selling new boats to consumers. Isn't the real reason for the promo program to generate revenue for our governing body? USAWS needs revenue Skiers need boats for tournaments USAWS makes a deal with boat manufacturers USAWS requires promo boats to be used for tournaments USAWS collects money from boat manufacturers Boat manufacturers get free labor from Promo owners Skiers are expected to compensate Promo owners I was a promo boat member for 4 years and to me it's a scam. IMO there are 4 things that can be done: 1 - USAWS provides its own set of standards for promo owner compensation - at the very least they could mandate that all promo owners are not charged tournament fee. As a regulatory body, there is a conspicuous lack of regulations on a major source of revenue. 2 - The boat manufacturers can start paying for their free labor. The modernization of the programs to "take back" the boat is real progress, but still too little for guys like @skiinxs 3 - Charge more for tournament fees and specifically allocate that to promo boats. At least in Ohio the cost of a tournament (nearly all Class C) has been stuck at $50 for a decade. By comparison it's $80 to run in your local half-marathon. Tournament directors can't make enough money with 35 skiers (less discounts to officials and juniors) to pass on any compensation to promo owners. This could be an option for tournaments - much like skiing Class C or L in the same tournament, but with a different pricing structure. The difference is that if you pay the "promo fee" you get to ski behind the new Nautique, if you don't pay, then you ski behind the 2012 200 with 650 hours on it. 4 - Get rid of the promo program altogether. The reality is most tournaments (in Ohio at least) are held at private sites and personal boats are used. If the program went away, we would just keep using the same new boats provided by the same boat owners each year.
  20. Depends on the format. If you were just running a regular 3 round tournament, then I guess you take the accumulated value of the averages for a total to determine the winner. But as you know the BBT always uses a "fun format" (spin it to win it, run the gamut, pick your poison, pick your partner, etc) to narrow the down the field for a finals.
  21. @John Brooks We do not do it that way. If a skiers average entering Rd1 is 74 buoys (2@22off). If their actual Rd1 score is 75 buoys then their handicapped score is 101.35% and their new average entering Rd2 would be 75 buoys. If their actual Rd1 score is 73 buoys then their handicapped score is 98.65% and their average remains 74 buoys going into subsequent rounds. The limit someone can increase their score is 102%. So if a kid comes along with a 20 buoy average and runs 35 buoys (175%) in Rd1, their handicapped score would be 102% and their new average the next round would be 35 buoys.
