  1. I have been skiing on a new ski for a few weeks now and my knee on my back leg gets sore after each set. Right on the front of my knee. Never had this problem before. Any ideas on how to fix it? Wondering if my binders are too close. Not sure if I should try moving the rear back, the front forward, or both.
  2. I've tried the belts and they helped a little. Only thing I have found that works is a power vest. Takes all the load off my back. Takes some getting used to to ski in. Really messes with my reach. But it is the only thing that allows me to ski without pain. May be more then what you need now, but if you ever get to that point it actually works. Stretching before and after skiing and heat. Sucks getting older.
  3. Here are a couple of good videos to watch gates. The second one is interesting because it is Chris Parrish side by side with Andy Mapple. Andy rides back on his ski compared to Chris. Chris looks like he runs the pass with less effort though. Regina Parrish vs. Andy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7Yt9aRCxEg
  4. @crashman the second one looks better. You're standing up tall on your ski. In the first picture you are sitting back.
  5. Always doing stupid stuff like that. Done wrong foot forward. Used the slalom from a combo set. A billboard. A trick ski no bindings. Two handed. Jump skis. Old wooden ski. It's fun screwing around. Billboard was the most fun because you would have to run from one side to the next to turn.
  6. After being hurt last year and not skiing, then tearing my ski up before the first tournament I will take what I can get. Got a new ski, and I'm starting to get it figured out. Getting some decent starts at 38 in practice, and hoping to at least get back into 38 in a tournament before the end of the year. 100 was my goal to start the year, and 102+ is always my goal. Only run 38 once in practice this year, so I have a ways to go. Feel like I'm right on the edge though.
  7. I was more impressed with the flat screen tv mounted on the windshield
  8. @Brady I disagree. The majority of rule changes in football have been for player safety not fan excitement. If anything football is less exciting because they have taken away a lot of the big hit opportunities. If you want to change the gates due to some legitimate safety reason I could understand that. I personally don't see a safety issue with the gates. Personal responsibility, if you want to try and hold onto a bunch of slack, when you know the potential consequences that is up to you. But as my father always told me "If you're going to be stupid, you better be tough". If you really wanted to go after a safety concern why don't we ban hard shells, or all binders for that matter. Seems to be the source of the majority of injuries. I'm not sure what to do about fan excitement. The average person cant tell the difference between 15 off and 38 off. If you aren't invested in the people skiing (A friend, a really good skier, or someone you know face plants a lot), slalom gets boring to watch after awhile. At our local tournaments, one thing that does make it exciting is we have two skiers that are good friends and extremely competitive with each other. They talk smack and taunt each other, even while they are skiing. It's exciting and fun to watch who is going to win between the two of them. I always stop what I'm doing to watch. So maybe we need more competition and less skiing for rankings.
  9. Hopefully he knows I'm kidding about having gas money
  10. Going to be working in Panama City Tuesday - Thursday this week and didn't know if you needed a ski partner. I've got no talent, a bad attitude, drive like crap, but I do have gas money if you are interested.
  11. @normwenzel I know I don't know how to do it correctly, and you probably know better then I do, but I have always been told the only way to get good lift and control in the air is to to be balanced on your skis and drive through the ramp with your skis, knees, hips, and shoulders pointed in the same direction and driving towards the top left corner. If I let up at the bottom I will sit back. I have a bad tendency of dropping my left shoulder and opening my chest to the ramp. Causes me to slide out on the ramp and lose lift. Unfortunately I'm not very good at explaining myself.
  12. @kfennel yes. The only way to land on your toes is to pull through the ramp. The second you quit pulling you will sit back on your skis. Take singles and learn to pull through the ramp.
  13. Yeah I think I'm going to really like it the more I ski on it. It is a lot different, then my old ski. Not as fast, but gets me early and wide and turns well. The rest is on me.
  14. Hopped on an a3 after my elite did a cartwheel down the highway at 80 mph. I was stupid and didn't start with stock settings. I moved the bindings forward and had the fin all over the place. I couldn't get anything to work for me. Was getting so frustrated I wanted to chuck the ski in the trash. Decided to go stock settings and the ski came alive for me. I haven't set any Pb's or anything, but atleast now it feels like I could. Ran a fairly easy 35, and if I wouldn't have butchered my gate I might of had a shot at 38.
  15. Crappy picture, but I ended up doing a flip and landed standing up on the ski just didn't have the rope.
  16. I've only talked to one person that had one and he liked the hump. If your going to get a stokes you got to get the hump. It just looks cool
  17. Yes. Top 5 at regionals qualifies you for nationals.
  18. Sorry for your impending loss. Thank you for sharing his story.
  19. I'm roughly your size and weight at 6'-4" 210. I would recommend trying both the 67 and 68 in whatever ski you decide on. I'm currently on a 67 but on some skis a 68 feels better. You can demo the 67 and 68 quest for $70.
  20. Stoled six and snuck out the gate. Ran a pass you shouldn't have. Busting chicken. Carrying a lot of speed Hold on while I check the prop. Going the bathroom. A@@ holes and elbows- either all over the place or a good crash. Pre jump dump. Obviously started with jumping but used in slalom when nerves force you to go to the bathroom before you ski in a tournament.
  21. I guess I'm old school, because I've always felt short line begins when you shorten the line. 15 off. It just doesn't get fun until 38 off.
