  1. Thanks guys. took one of the old bad ecms off the shelf and inspected the capacitors on the motherboard out of curiosity. Found both to be bulging. I believe the heat may have caused a hydrogen gas expansion in the capacitors. This ecm has nichicon capacitors which were known to be faulty. I have had many Ford Trucks and Mustangs with somewhat similar ecm with never a problem. Just my bad luck. However, my boat runs 3 to 6 times a day in the summers. No idea what my hours are since the hour meter went out when it was fairly new. I replaced many a capacitor on IBM computers when I worked there. Will let all know how the capacitor replacement goes.
  2. Any one else out there having problems with the pleasure craft ecm's for the GT40 ford engine? I have replaced 3 so far in 12 years. Seem they fail consistently at 4 years. At 500 bucks a pop, it can get fairly annoying.
  3. I was talking with a tournament boat driver that was skeptical of the drive by wire conversions. I was going to convert my 98 SN with a total loss 2008 SN motor and tranny. I was outbid big time. Guy paid 11 k for this boat. hull and top deck and interior total loss. I bid 5k. Before you go with the conversions, I would take a test ride behind one first and then behind a new boat and try to control all the parameters. Just my two cents.
  4. Does anyone know if the 2010 Radar Senate C is the same as last year but with different graphics? I haven't put my hands on a Strada but from pics it doesn't look to be too different from the RS-1. Thanks.
  5. Stoked to get this SenateC ski. Got it off of Craigslist.com for little to nothing. Awesome ski. This is an older one with the brownish orange color. Not a good looking ski but performs very well. Try one, even if you are skiing 38 off and shorter. You might be delightfully surprised.
  6. Thanks for all the tips. Since migrating from the Jobe to a Goode, she improved by 4 whole passes within 8 weeks only skiing once a week due to school. Doesn't load up nearly as much. The Jobe just didn't have the speed that the Goode has. She is glued to the Goode now, she will try nothing else. Thanks again.
  7. I would like some in depth discussion on the design of the Strada. What sets this ski apart from the RS-1. Also, has the Senate-C's design, flex and other characteristics changed from last year. Thanks. Rossi, on the youtube Video, skis much better on the Strada than the RS-1. Could be the ski, maybe not, but the Strada really seems to blend with his style well. One thing I noticed is the ski casts out well. Works really well at 41 off for him, not early not late but rounds the buoy at the right time with respect to where the boat is.
  8. I know they say a pic is a thousand words. Look at this pic and tell me what needs to be improved upon technique wise. Thanks.
  9. Is this a good ski school? Where is this ski school? Thanks.
  10. There are many skiers out there you have never heard of running into line lengths ranging from 38 off to 41 off. These guys just have no interest in the time and money involved with going to tournaments. I personally know of a 44 year old skier to gets into 41 off on a regular basis. And that is with a record certified course with Perfect Pass. Path straight as an arrow. Also, know one who gets into 38 off regularly and one who gets into 39.5 off regularly. Point is, these guys have the same coach. I am sure there are probably at least a couple dozen souls across this country that could get on the Nationals podium if they really wanted to.
  11. I have tried many skis and found the Radar skis to be the best all round. But that is just my opinion, you should try many skis first. I ride a 67 Theory at 30mph and a 67 Senate-C at 34.2mph. Both skis will run 39.5" off. Have never tried 41 off. The thing that I like about these skis is they ride good from 15 off all the way to 39.5 off. Most high end skis beat you to death at low speeds and lower line lengths.
  12. Guys,  I have a stainless cable course that is coming apart in need of repair. I bought this second hand. It is continuous with diamonds at the arms. My question is does anyone know what type of crimps these are and where can I get them? Just the crimps are breaking down not the button stops. They look to be copper but I am not too sure. Thanks.
  13. I came even begin to wonder why Goode's do not have inserts. Either it is a business decision to increase powershell on powerplate sales or the material really weakens when blocks are put in. That's the only two things I can come up with that make sense to me.
  14. Has anyone ever put inserts in a Goode 9500? Good or bad idea? Thanks.
  15. I need some interloc for wileys rubber bindings? I do not want the boot and rtp to release from the ski. I just do not want to put holes in the ski. Am I correct in that I will need the 400 level Interloc? Also, where is the cheapest place to get this stuff? Thanks.
  16. ordered a 9500 an older ski which was a demo. This is for my daughter. I am exclusive to Radar for my skiing. I ride a Theory and a Senate-C. This order is really to test the waters with Goode, as I have no experience with Goodes. If all goes well, I may proceed to whatever they offer next year for juniors which probably will be a 9900.
  17. I have ordered a Goode from the factory. It has been four days and the ski has yet to be shipped. It this typical for Goode? Most other ski companies get skis out that day or the next. I was thinking maybe they ship way more skis. Any thoughts? After watching the Webcast for the Diablo Shores, I couldn't help but notice that Goode dominated the podium. Goode still is the ski company to beat it appears. Thoughts?
  18. Ok guys, If you had a choice between the Goode 9500 and the D3 Nomad, which would you pick? They both are the same price and come from private sellers.
  19. Any of you guys know the width at the bindings for the 64.5" Obrien Sixam 2? Thanks.
  20. I have a 63" HO Revolt I would let go for 100 bucks. Also, I have a 65" 2008 Radar Annex I would let go for 100 bucks. I also have two Wiley's high wrap Jr. front boots and a rtp with some glue oversspill on it. If interested, email me @ jgoss7@nc.rr.com
  21. You will be shocked to hear this. But then, maybe not. My daughter lost two whole passes on her new ski, tried all types of adjustments with the stock fin to no avail. I had a friend build one out of an outline of an old fin Chuck Forrest used to ski with. Now, this bad boy is 7.247" long and 2.661" deep. She picked two whole passes back and got a few at 28 off. However, bear in mind, she skis at 32mph and I am thinking that this works at 32mph and lower speeds but probably will not work at higher speeds and shorter lines.
  22. Anyone know what the fins today are made of? looks to be 80,000ths thick. What type of aluminum stock is it and where can I get some stock? I would also be interested in the old style tee stock. Thanks.
  23. Hmmm. A lot of naysayers here. Well, no way to get to the bottom of the Goode issue. So, all the naysayers know a goode deal. For $25 dollars you can demo a GOODE. Go ahead, demo it. And when you ski your pb, buy it. I will bet that none of the above will post complaining of delamination or bad customer service. I would surely hope not.  John Goss
  24. The subject of Goode ski's durability and customer service take up a lot of the conversation on this forum. I am a former tournament skier. I have no desire nor the drive to purchase a ski that is going to bankrupt me to gain a few buoys. Hence, I am very impartial to any of the ski companies. I buy the cheapest ski out there because the truth of the matter is this: I run 38 off on all of them. They are all good skis. Even down to the mid level skis. It seems that Goode's reputation is on the line. But like he says, a large percentage of the Nationals winners are on GOODE. That statement has to be taken with a grain of salt. The level of customer service is at a higher level with those skiers, I am sure. If GOODE wants some good PR, have him send me a ski. I will ski on it all summer, document every set and document how I take care of the ski. Then, I will return the ski back to him. I will post a diary on the ski's performance, durablity, and it's care. What has GOODE got to lose? I get nothing out of it. I do not ski tournaments. I ski for fun. What you get from me is totally unbiased performance evaluation. If the Goode product is as good as claimed, then Dave would jump at this opportunity.  John Goss jgoss7@nc.rr.com
