  1. For what it's worth, my daughter picked up two whole passes on her first ride on a SenateC. If I can get rid of the other ski she is coming off of, I might have her try a Strada next.
  2. Any one still riding their Strada55's?
  3. May the best skier win:) Andy would definitely push the Dawg competition to a higher level. I would be willing to bet some more retired pros would come forward and ski as well. I believe it is tougher however to run 41 at 34mph vs. 36mph. So it will be interesting to see if he runs it. Jeff Rogers has yet to do so. I look forward to the 41 barrier to be broken this year.
  4. Somebody on this forum please correct me if I am wrong. When the water gets cooler, what Horton says above gets even worse. That is if the fin was deep this summer, cooler water would make the lack of angle, wheelie-ing, slow turns even worse.
  5. I am thinking she got into Regionals on a State Championship placement. Is it correct that if you win your State Championship in a certain event, you are then qualified for the Regionals in that event? Very impressive little girl skiing at that age. She is definitely fearless.
  6. Very impressive skiing by the little girl. Hope she sticks with it. Eventually, she will be tricking on one ski and won't have to worry with the rigid connections:)

  8. If you are having trouble on your offside, you should get your feet closer together. This should improve your offside and the tradeoff it hurt your onside just a little. It seems to me that those who ski with rear toe strap have the best off side turns. But those who run dbl boot have the best on side turns. Just my two cents.
  9. I am riding a 69.5" Strada. Bitching turns on both sides. Fin is set up per Matt Rini, so you may need to talk with him. I am finding that the ski also skis better behind a ZO boat set at B2. I find it odd that a ski rides best behind a certain ZO setting. Other skis I have rode didn't much matter. Just a thought though, it may be that the 7" wide forebody is turning really well. I would what a Senate C would ski like layed up like a Strada?
  10. Are these dft measurements done with the needle or holding the caliper flat on bottom up against the back of the fin? I guess it also will make a difference with the silver fin vs. the red fin?
  11. I was thinking the same thing. Ski behind a MC to be prepared for the big wake. Then, one of the engineers in our ski club says why beat your knees up everyday crossing the wakes. I saw this statement as a valid point. We ski behind a SN. The MC doesn't bother me as the ZO doesn't either. But, the kids do have a bit of trouble with it and they do get psyched out when it shows up at the starting dock.
  12. I think Horton should just lock this one up. It is and will not go anywhere. I see the obvious and at the same time, my daughter PB'd twice on a 2011 MC. This boat was set up properly. I have seen many a MC not set up properly. Which is a shame. Want to keep kids in skiing, knock em down on their first pass. For all those who are not seeing the obvious, I would be happy to pull you with a 1980 SN. And, gas is on the house. :)
  13. I decided to look at the scores of those divisions that skied behind the MC at the SR. Specifically those at 32 mph or less. So, it appears that in the G1, G2, B1, and B2 , more than 50% of the skiers fell on their first pass. Last year, these divisions were pulled by the SN200 and I do not recall many of those same skiers missing their first passes. Keep this up and there will be less skiers in the Regionals and Nat's next year. I hope not. I would like to see the sport grow.
  14. Why would you not get to pick the boat for slalom or jump as you do for tricks? This can be done. But if you are top seed and your boat pulls the first group of skiers then you ski last for that group. Or is there any better idea? In all fairness, I have seen some bad promo SN200's although it is still my choice. And I have seen one MC promo this year that has soft wakes and a softer ZO pull. It wasn't going to be at the SR so we didn't go. I kind of figured things weren't going to go well, but I had no idea it would be this bad.
  15. Hopefully, we will see some softer flexes. :)
  16. I would agree that it is going to be very tough to better the strada shape. Even as bad as I ski, the ski works really well for me.
  17. I am hearing that a new Radar ski is coming soon. Don't know if it is true or not, but I am demoing Radars right now and I best wait until the new one comes out if it even does.
  18. I am also trying out a 69.5" Strada. With Chris Rossi's settings from the Radar website, the ski came alive. Really didn't have to work hard. Ski turns very well, ride outs to the buoy line wide and early and sets a good angle across the wakes. Have tried all the skis and the Strada has really stood out in my mind. Just my two cents.
  19. With Rossi's fin settings the ski came alive. Skiing way upcourse on 22 and 28 off. Pretty happy with that since I haven't skied in 10 years or so plus my wife hasn't really driven in as many years as well. Decided it might be best to step away from the table if I want to ski some more. Even at 69.5" the ski turns on a maximum angle, slides around and sets solid and takes off across the wake maintaining outbound direction. I had my daughter try one, but she didn't like it, may have to get another one for her to try. This ski is just too good not to work for her.
  20. Try Rossi's settings. I went with his settings on a 69 and the ski was more stable and wider. The exact opposite of what should happen when you take out length and depth.
  21. I am trying out a 69.5" Strada. The first set was with the settings on the website recommended by Matt Rini. Ski turned good on bad side 1,3,5 Right foot forward. Good side turn not so good. Seemed to be throwing me out the front going to 2,4,6 side. Going to move fin fwd for that. The Chris Rossi settings on the same website under the fin chart is radically different. Anyone know Eddie Roberts email? Thanks.
  22. Thanks for the info guys. Now I need to pick some to match my badass Radar Strada built for the big leagues. This bitch is so big, I might need one of those old small fins they use to put on the Connelly HP, so I can get it to turn.
  23. Hello Horton, What ski goggles do you use? I need to get something and have my doc put a prescription lense in. Do they float? Next thing you know, I will need false teeth. Wonder if I can get the floating type. Thanks.
  24. How much did these folks weigh and what size ski did you set them up with? I have tried three different brands thus far and always return to the old ski. Tommorrow, we plan on trying out the Vice and the Senate C. I am more curious about the Senate C as it seems to be much different than anything else out there. Thanks for the info, could possibly point us in the right direction.
  25. I should not have bought the ski period. I should have went with the RBYB program with H2osmosis. That's the way to go. First mistake I made was buying the ski based on what the daughter ran at a ski school. When she skied on her regular practice site she had a time with the ski. And continued to struggle with it. I sent an email to the ski school letting them know that the ski wasn't working well for her and that there was trouble with the inserts. At that point, I started adjusting the fin and the binding placement. My daughter is just a junior skier and the ski is incredibly stiff so it just isn't going to work for her. I took her back to the ski school just two weeks ago as they said a fin adjustment would fix it. The fin adjustment didn't work. She basically has lost about 4 to 5 weeks of this summer dealing with this ski, so we will probably skip this year's regionals and nat's. So, it's a tough lesson I've learned this summer. Ride b4 you buy on your own practice site and boat!
