  1. You have to remember the tunnel wings on the EP GX1.
  2. In an effort to get some skiers to ski with chest open to the boat a little more and leaning away from the boat being light on the line and not leaning way back, I put them on the course on a wake board. This takes some time, but I swear it works. Just slow the boat down and run the course on a wake board. It really improves your skiing. And the offside turn and pull is wicked with your toes pointed away from the boat. But, it really improves your on side turns and pulls in that it gets you used to sking away from the boat and with your chest up and open.
  3. This thread brings to mind the 2010 Nats up in Illinois. They decided to have people stand in line for tickets for practice runs and the parents just acted like those people who fight at WalMart on Black Friday. People breaking line. Some folks getting tickets for others. It was just plain disrespectful. I watched with disbelief. This was mostly G2 and G3 practice for Slalom. In my opinion, kinda gave the sport a black eye.
  4. i buy my daughter the high dollar skis and try to find deals for myself. I sometimes get surprised by some skis. : )
  5. I might even sell my car and buy a Goode.:)
  6. OB is right on. The Goode's tend to dominate the podium. Even might see some old one's back again.
  7. Here in North Carolina, this is all you see at tourneys. HO's are killing it. S2 is the hottest thing out. A2's are hot as well. Both are darn good skis. Here and there a few Goode's and a few of the older Strada's. April is the top skier, one of the the top in the world. Smartest thing HO ever did was to sign her. I have tried to tell Eddie Roberts and other's you got to sponsor a couple of the top local skiers. But, what do I know? I know this, North Carolina is HO territory, and there are hundreds of the red sticks everywhere. :)
  8. Anybody know where one could get a 67" Strada 55?
  9. I would've thought the rope would break before the handle. I have broke tons of 64 strand but no 80 strand rope. I have bent some 12" handles but no performer handles (old style). I have learned to be light on the line and haven't broken any since. I wouldn't pull someone who bent handles like that for safety reasons.
  10. She tried and ran 22 off three times for the first time today. She can't run 15 off but can run 22 off. Now I have to figure out how to deal with this for a tourney. If she starts at a lower speed at 22 off and doesn't get to and run the 34mph pass, she doesn't get credit for all the buoys below I believe. Not really sure.
  11. We are going into the fifth week on this ski. Have been trying to get back to good skiing mechanics and posture and all that good stuff. All the while, have been riding this ski at speeds from 28 to 34 mph at 15 off. None of the passes were looking good to me. However, we chose this ski because it looked to be the best fit and the most potential. Tried something different today. We slowed the boat down a bit and started running some 22 offs. Boom, the ski and skier is looking like a totally different skier. Ski coming around nice attaining angle all the way through the wakes, tight line, and skiing way upcourse. What I may have learned is that this ski is more of a shortline ski and more suited for skiers who start at 28 off and shorter. But, it also looked much better at 22 off than 15off. Horton has helped alot and I have returned to stock fin settings with the front binding being about 1/8th forward of stock.
  12. I think you are right in that you used to be able to look at a ski and tell what it would ski like. Now, it seems to be difficult to do so. And, you can't beat demoing the ski first. I have only demoed one ski in that I really do not ski much anymore and I can say from that experience that the Radar Strada is a bitching ski. Put the right skier on it and he or she won't be beat. However, my daughter does not like it. She has demoed all the skis and basically skis the same on all of them. No one ski stands out for her at this point. Basically, to her, some skis are easier to ride, while others no so much. But, at the end of the day, she skis the same on all of them.
  13. Dusty, when you say rounder bevels seem to hunt, that brings to mind the EP Pro Stock. That ski was not for the faint of heart. Always felt like you were sliding to 2nd base going into offside turn.
  14. Starting this thread because it appears I don't know shi.......... about ski design. I think I need to better understand slalom ski designs before I drop another K on another one. I know we have bevels, concaves, tip and tail rocker, etc. But what does each do? I stand corrected that the tail rocker does not increase the ski's turning characteristics and that larger bevels do. And that generally larger bevels make a ski slower from side to side. Some people are looking for stability, some easier turning, some easier skiing( good luck with that one!) What I am looking for is some of the best turning skis, the easier turning skis. Hopefully, some of the ballers in the know will chime in. It seems like I am always trying to adjust the fin for better turning. For once, I would like to be adjusting the fin to stop the ski from overturning. Now, that would be nice. I think!
  15. In G2 she was able to run a couple at 32 off/32mph. She grew alot this winter and was skiing her 34mph/15 off passes when she was demoing the S2. After I bought it, she has been struggling with 32mph/15off. She ran 2 and 4 at 34mph/15off in tourny this pass weekend. I am going to start another thread about ski design. Hopefully, alot of the ballers will because it looks like I don't know shi...... about skis.
  16. As Charlie Brown says, "oh, brother".
  17. Maybe I am not measuring the dft correctly. Are you guys using the needle to measure dft or are you all laying the caliper flat up against the back of the fin? I have it set at .730 by flat against the fin.
  18. Here's to hoping you are right Horton. The only thing I can conclude is that every ski we have demoed or tested has been late fall or early spring with much cooler water temps, we are now getting some 100 degree days so the water is heating up fast so the water must be getting slower changing the way the ski rides. That being said, I am going to have to figure a better setup for the warmer water.
  19. I've been hit again with the honeymoon effect. Sad thing is we tried this ski out for 4 weeks before we bought it. Stock settings didn't work. Shallowed up the depth to try to get the ski to turn, as well as moving dft to .750 from .730. Tried all depths from 2.475 to 2.51. Moved the bindings as far forward and back as can be. Looks like I have a skier who just can't turn a ski period. However, she can turn the crap out of an old Jobe. But consistency is a concern with the Jobe. I am beginning to believe that maybe the S2 may be above her level. She has tried a Senate C which didn't work too well either. Any thoughts?
  20. Could be . I check tommorrow.
  21. Has anyone ever had trouble with the timing function not working on their zbox. Nothing in the troubleshooting manual covers it. I checked the gate mapping and the coordinates are still in the system and are correct. Any ideas?
  22. Maybe they should make it against the law to be stupid. Now, could they enforce that and what would be the penalty.
  23. I took all hoses off, the tranny cooler, the filter assm, pump and cleaned them all up and reassembled. All I can figure is that there must've been some air getting sucked in although there was no leaking of water.
  24. it is a mid ride. probably really helps out at the 32 mph speed. At 34, I believe she will go to a traditional.
  25. Jobe open class, full carbon layup would put all other's out of business. :)
