  1. I spent two years on the beaches of he Mediterranean sea in my young years. I was so brown but back then we had no idea it was not good for one. Sun burns was the norm. I just might be paying the price now. The rest of my life has not been short of way to much sun! Making big changes now and the last seven or eight years but the damage has been done. Be careful!
  2. Go Blue and I own a Malibu. I still would help but not near TC.
  3. One of my ski buds had both done same time and had polio as a child. Done early Feb. and skiing early June. Never looked back and asks why he did not do it earlier. Not chasing balls but skiing better then ever.
  4. Snow is so much more a choice to the skier. I don't care if its pack or powder. I don't snow ski any more as I have been spoiled skiing mountains. I don't travel enough to ski the Rocky's or Cascades and I don't like snow if I don't have at least 1,000' vertical drop. Good powder is an experience. Glass is special but not like good powder. And packed or off run skiing if your no getting enough excitement find a cliff a jump, trees and up the anney. I was so lucky in my young years I got to ski with Olympic skiers free skiing. Did some racing coaching and gave lessons. Worked for two years at ski sites. Even got to ski prototype skis. Then I grew up and got a job that payed. Still spent many winters skiing around Colorado I volunteered for many many winter trips for the company one to two months each trip. I love water skiing but it not snow. Even gates in snow rhythm yes but never the same like balls. Water skiing is often with a special grope of good people often early mornings or late evenings special yes but not quite as good! Could be I was a better snow skier.
  5. Sam as jepski drain the block, manifolds, remove lower water hoses and drain them. Then reconnect them and remove top water pump hose and fill with AF and reconnect. Remove manifold hoses and fill with AF (or until AF drips from exhaust), then reconnect. I leave the AF in for the winter. I don't have knock sensors so I use plumbers tap on my plugs and they look like new and I do not get any rust when draining and my impellers last for years. We see -20,s many times each winter. 07 boat and never had any issues and my other inboards the same.
  6. I am looking every time I am in front of a mirror. If something is changing I am watching. As I said I called for a check from my Dermatologist this spring and what I was in question about was not a cancer. But I was pointing out another spot I was seeing starting to appear and did resemble my first Melanoma. Her first answer was it nothing. But as she was freezing the spot I ask for the appointment for, she kept looking at the other area I pointed out. In the end a biopsy was taken and weeks later I was in Ann Arbor getting the first of three surgery's. Get it early and its very simple to work with. Don't let it get into the system if so its going to be a much bigger battle!
  7. + 1 on gel coat blisters. Its a hit or miss. It's nothing to do with the manufacture but gel coat is pours. We used special marine epoxy and bottom paint on hulls of boats we were leaving in water. And that will not be good on resale on boats like ours.
  8. I am only skiing open water now. But I was amazed at fin settings even in open water. I have never kept a setting that did not seam ball park from the get go. And some skies seam to be very noticeable others seam to be less. So the only changes I make now for open water is if the lake temp get into the 80's. My skis seam to get sluggish in warm water. I also take my brake off for open water skiing. I think my old Goode 9500 was the ski I could feel the most effect with small settings. I also have not skied many of the new skis. I am so happy with my old D3Z7. I will never be able to ski beyond the ski and it's so forgiving for a fat old fart. I am still skiing at 36, 35 off got to love a good fast run in the mornings.
  9. My 07 has 350 hours and runs and look nearly new. I also treat and maintenance the boat very well. I would have twice the hours if we did not ski a CC196 most of the time. We also have one other nice boat we run so two of us just don't put the hours on our boats as we ski. We often ski with just a driver and The 196 just can't be beat for us without weighting our boats for driver only. The 196 is coming up on 2,000 hours.
  10. Started course very late in life then lost our course so never was much good. Still skiing open water. I know I ski better but I don't think it would help me ski the course much. For me the timing is nearly everything. Without a dough I ski better today and would bet I could run the course much better after a month on a course. I know I understand and have much better technique. Looking good on a ski is one thing but making those balls is another thing!
  11. All I can say is at what sport if you take it to your best can't you get hurt at? At 68 I have done so much and yet not many things I would not do today. I don't look at what can happen just don't be completely stupid without practice. Still enjoy my skiing but may well be slowing down this year. More just old body heaving issues not related to sports. And yes for skiers and boat water lovers the sun we worship can be our worst enemy.
  12. + One on Wiley's has many parts. Should you go new Wiley's Pro wraps are still my go to bindings.
  13. She froze nine spots! That is the most in one visit. Also back to 6 month checks.
  14. Pat M You give me way to much credit! It 6balls that is so wise! Sixball is just an old fat guy that hangs around and dreams.
  15. I will try to make time. I am lucky to make time for some sets this season. This is a wild summer for me. I do agree!
  16. I am on the other end of the 60's. Still on my D3 Z7 and know the ski is not holding me back. All I will say is my D3's and Goods have been very forgiving well performing very very well. I would try to find a forgiving ski. But if you have the ability to demo some skis do so. We each have our preferences. one of the things I like about my old D3 is it is friendly to poorer water for open water skiing. i
  17. I lost one on my 07 R-lxi
  18. Update... So my bud just got a original PCM hose and it is significantly better then the hoses he has been using! Maybe boats are not a place to save money. I think it was just how quick he could get a replacement.
  19. Finley had a good weekend!!!!!!!!!!! Cool air temps in the mornings Low to mid 60s but glass and low amounts of debris. And the cool air kept boat traffic close to nothing!
  20. Its rupturing or splitting the hose.
  21. Love skiing the boat. But it does not look good on the short rope behind my R lxi.
  22. The other side. Near the bottom bend. Its my ski bud's boat so I can't look at it now. I think it is from the motor water pump to the thermostat. near the fuel pump.
  23. 2003 350 Excalibur blowing the J hose way to often. Any ideas, or others seeing this.
  24. How true this has been one of the worst Michigan summers yet! when its been good we have had so much debris its hard to get good runs. Public lake. Had a night late May early June air temp @ 39. Hat to say it but even dug the dry suit out once in June.
