  1. We are headed to Brentwood, CA, for the Diablo Pro-Am. This tournament is a blast, if not to ski then to watch. Skiing, pros, prizes, I can't wait. I am dragging a few fellow ski club members to watch. Any BOS members going?
  2. Regarding the goggles, my theory is true. Once you reach Mens 3, you suddenly become more concerned with being comfortable than cool. According to my theory, it gets worse as you get older. By the time you reach Mens 5, you are wearing head bands, wrist bands, spray leg, goggles, neoprene shorts (for less drag), back brace, knee brace, tennis elbow brace and possibly a bandana.
  3. With the mix of switch ropes and regular ropes out there, make sure you are very careful when running tournaments. I know in Arizona, one round got scrapped because they found the switch pieces on. On our tournament earlier this year at our lake, the dock starter removed the switch piece on one rope, and it was not discovered for several skiers later. Ok, so no more switch ropes, right? Got it. No switch ropes at all at this last weekends tournament. BUT, this last weekend, a skier accidentally brought in a switch piece that stayed connected to his handle when he removed it from HIS rope. That piece then stayed on for a few skiers before it was discovered. So, we didn't know when the #^$#^! it was brought in, so we were on the verge of scrapping the entire round. We were finally able to figure it out and re-ride a few skiers. Dock starters, beware, pay attention to this stuff. Tournament directors, learn from these mistakes. It will still be a few years before the switch ropes are cycled out.
  4. I am still on the FM Quattros 6 after trying the E-series and the RS-1s. Keep going back to the old standby. I have now mounted by FM shells on the Goode plate and used the inter-lock. Love the feel, response and simplicity. But, back to your question. If you don't want to buy a new set of FMs, you may be able to send them in for a rebuild. Otherwise I would try the Reflex and wiley rear. Lots of great skiers are on this set up which says something.
  5. "Ok Boody, I call for a forum grudge match. When is your next tournament? I have 4 rounds left this year." Horton, grudge match it is but you are a better skier than me. I just do a ton of tournaments so I am bound to bust out a good score every now and then. I have about 8 rounds left this year. The next tournament is Diablo Shores, then a few tournaments in Sac. Like I don't have enough pressure already, what have I done? First one to get a full 5 wins!
  6. Great skiing, nice form. That place is beautiful.
  7. Thanks guys, looks like Horton and I PB'd on the same day with the same score! Ironical. Scott, its a 9900 SL. I can't wait to get some more practice on it, me likey.ÂÂ
  8. Looks like I divorced my A1. Just a few sets on the Goode before the tournament today, ran a 38 in practice and got a tournament PB today of 4.5 @38. I am pretty psyched, I haven't PB'd in a long long time. I didn't know what to do, pump my fist? Jump for joy? I am so used to just swimming back to shore. It was a great feeling. The 9900 is working very well for me. I really wonder now about how skis break down and if that was the problem with my A1, it used to feel great. Oh well, not looking back now.
  9. I will check it out, but we are looking for a specific color combo. The black/grey/white. That is my first choice, but if that doesn't work out we will start looking at other colors. Thanks!
  10. I am looking for a 2008 Ski Nautique 196 with ZO. The colors I am looking for are the Black/Grey/White combo. I found two on the East coast, but am looking for something on the west coast. Thanks.ÂÂ
  11. "Or you could just buy a Goode. They don’t break down." Well........I did. Took my first set on a Goode tonight. Been on the A1 for one year now, have about 150 sets or so on it. I do ok on it, but it hasn't got me thru 38, a few times in practice, when the stars were all aligned, but I am sick of 2 or 3 at 38 in tournaments. Watching all the Big Dawg skiers on the Goode got me wondering.  Other than that, I have never considered a Goode. I saw a Goode SL9900 on ski-it-again with just 6 sets for only $850 so I said screw it and bought it. Took my first set on it tonight, 28,28, 32,32, 35,35 and 2.5 at 38 (off the dock). That is exactly what I do on my A1 for the most part, but I was happy to get that considering it was the first time on the ski. I do think there is something the Goode. It was very light and fast, pretty stable too. Now I have a double header tournament this weekend and am really wondering what ski. I should probably stick to my A1 because I have so many sets on it. Riding the Goode with just one set under my belt is crazy, right?
  12. Wife and I are kicking around getting a ZO boat but many of the boats for sale are outside of our area (Oregon). Has anyone had experience shipping a boat and if so, any suggestions on a good company? I know he cost depends on miles, but any idea on cost at to ship a boat from the East coast?
  13. I am thinking about off centering my front binding, I have hardshells. I am a believer in canting the rear binding for more comfort and balance, but I had not considered the front binding until recently, actually after seeing Goode's website on binding placement. I don't like the idea of canting the front, but off centering to counter the rear makes sense. I am right foot forward so moving the binding to the right (but straight) and then pivoting my rear binding out seems like that would balance the ski better. Anyone else doing this? ThanksÂÂ
  14. Not sure about these boots, they are so low cut. I wonder if they provide any ankle support, something I like in a hardshells. I like how the back is cut away so you can get the ski out in front of you without it rearing up. Excited to see how the release system works. But it looks like a bad fall can tweek an ankle pretty easy. We will know soon, hopefully I am wrong.
  15. Thanks for posting, I have been chomping at the bit to see this new set up.ÂÂ
  16. Whoa......wait a #%^$ minute. I just took off my carbon fin on my A1, now Bruce and John are in agreement that it helps? You guys are trying to get in my head, thats messed up man. What is the verdict on the carbon fins? I used one for two years and loved it, but I also like the way the ski holds the speed at the finish of the turn with the stock fin.ÂÂ
  17. I am on the HO A1, and have been on the Horton fin since last year. I have had great off side turns but crappy on side turns. After regionals, I decided to switch back to my stock fin. This greatly improved my on side turn but I do not get as good of off-side turns. It appears to me that the carbon fin helps the tail slide around. Also, it looks like we tail slide on our off side turns, but not so much on our on side turns? Just trying to figure out ski set ups, etc. If this is the case, I wonder if the carbon fin would work better on the S1 that more uses the "sliding" principal. I also wonder if there could be a fin that helps sliding on one side but not the other.
  18. Sweet pics, looks like the ski makes you counter pretty good! Finally a ski that makes you ski in good form.
  19. They can be a little hard to get on as your heal sticks to the liner. Here is what I do: Jam the front of your foot into the laces as much as you can to get your foot as forward as possible. This allows enough room to bring the heal down but its still snug. Leave the cuffs on and the liners in the boot. Step into the boot with your bare foot. You shouldn't have to mess with the thumb screws at all unless you come out obviously.  Hope it helps.
  20. Wife and I had a great time at the Western Regionals this year. We flew in on Thursday night and visited the sight at dusk. Saw Jeff Milford (Mens 3 champ) and David South at the dock, both great guys from Utah. Both on the Goode wide ride and both skied great. I skied the next morning but missed my 35 so I was bummed. The lake skied great though. Then my wife went out in W3 as the 3rd seed. She put up the score to beat with 4 at 32 off, but got edged out by Dana Garcia with 4.5 at 32 for the win. My wife took 2nd which was great! She was so psyched. I met Richard Doane whom I only know from this forum and he is a super cool guy. He skied great by the way, getting 3 at 38, then running off with a few others and coming out on top for a 4th place finish. Way to go Richard!! A lot of great guys and gals in this sport, we are lucky to have such a great group of folks in our Western Region. What is up with those wide rides? Jeff Milford ran his 38 and it looked stupid easy, like he wasn't laying over and fast like others. Most 38s are fast and radical.  The wide rides look like they ski much slower than other skis, but that is just my take, it could of been the skiers. Congrats Jeff!

Our ski club is hosting a raffle to benefit one of our lake member families. To make a long story short, a great family at our club lost their 2 year boy to bacterial menengitis in early May so we decided to do a raffle help the family out. The raffle proceeds will benefit the family and the menegitis foundation. We have compiled some great ski prizes and are now opening up the raffle online (US only). See below for our list of prizes. Our drawing will be held August 29th at the Sunrise tournament in Redding, CA. You can purchase tickets via paypal at mkbudreau@charter.net. For more details on the cause, visit http://dylan-mcneil.memory-of.com/about.aspx . Club website:  www.roguewaterskiers.com.  Tickets: $5 per ticket or 5 tickets for $20. Please include your area code and phone number! HO S1

I am interested to see the HO hardshells, but have one concern. They mount with three inserts in the front / rear center of the ski like the new AI and SI have. I have an older AI. When I inquired about mounting the new hardshells with wood screws I was told they cannot be mounted unless they are on a new ski. Apprenntly, when the skis are made, the inserts are enforced with a block. So cannot mount the new HO boot unless you have the updated hole pattern. The fogmans are mounted with wood screws and have a similar location.
  23. I just noticed that too, kinda yellowing, rough to the touch. Only on the bottom of the ski.
  24. Very nice boat, how much you asking?
